The Girl. Pt2

The dirt crunched under my shoes as I rounded the house, the cool wind blew lightly across my face, I looked to where she was going to be. As the house slowly unveiled her to me I saw her eyes boring into mine. For a few seconds I felt nervous, I could feel my body tense as I stepped forward. The wind had blown a few stands of black hair across her face, it danced in the gust. I wanted to tuck the pieces behind her ear, I didn't want anything obstructing my view from her soft flawless face. The green in her eyes had a glow about it, I watched her eyes narrow slightly. My heart began beating faster, I couldn't find my voice, the air was beginning to leave my body but I couldn't look away from her.. The captivating green had stolen every fibre of my being.. My eyes stung, I needed to blink but if I did, I'd lose sight of her. My mind told me to do it..

My eyes opened again, she was gone. My heart sunk, a weight filled my shoulders. I'd lost her again. Sighing I turned to leave, as my body turned she was there, closer, touching distance.

I went to speak when a maddened look filled her eyes, chaos was dancing with beauty. Before I could utter a word she flew at me.

I bolted up right in the hotel room, breathing heavy and covered in a cool sweat. Looking around I grabbed my phone from the night stand and pressed the home button seeing that it was 3.32am..

The witching hour.

Shaking my head I tossed it back down and fell back on the pillows looking at the ceiling. She was still there... Kelsey. The mysterious woman that Corey wouldn't speak about. I had asked about her but he kept changing the conversation until eventually he broke telling me he couldn't speak of her. Now that to me sounded odd, also sounded as if he was afraid of her.

She seemed like a little thing, what harm could she bring to a man, physically. Mentally might be a different thing, it was a different thing. I hadn't even had a chance to hear her voice yet she was invading my dreams. Replaying the moment over again, only this time everything stood out.. How the wind blew, the hair across her face, how her eyes narrowed and the colour stood out from the paleness of her skin and darkness of her hair. Even the dirt on the ground... Things I had overlooked because I was so eager just to speak to her.

But what I didn't understand was the moment of when I turned.. That wasn't how it went. Aaron had banged his head on something, the man was a walking health and safety dummy. That man found danger where there was none. He was behind me, Kelsey was in front of me. Yet in my dream I turned and she was there.. Not Aaron which was who was there in reality. I replayed the scene again going over every single detail.

How the craziness in her eyes had caught my attention quickly, how I could feel it building behind the emerald orbs of her eyes. Then she flew at me, she had rushed me and I woke startled. A little shaken, confused and now? Now I was looking at the ceiling expecting something else to happen.

Shaking my head I sat up and looked around the room before slipping out of bed. I walked into the bathroom and flicked on the light. I used the toilet before turning to use the basin when I almost fell back over the toilet seeing her stood in the bathroom with her.

"What the fuck!" I shouted as my heart hammered my chest.

Her head cocked to the side slightly in an inquisitive nature before she looked up at the light above us. My eyes dared to leave her, I was still dreaming... I had to be. I pinched the skin on my arm making her eyes flick to mine angrily.

"I- I don't want any trouble.. Just to talk." I spoke holding my hands up as a surrender. Her eyes returned to the light, unfortunately so did mine. As the light flickered and left me in a second of darkness I looked towards Kelsey but when the light came back on I was alone... Alone in the bathroom and hotel room.

I washed my hands quickly and dried them before grabbing one of the memory cards from Aaron's camera. Shoving it into the reader I woke up my laptop and played the recording.

I fast forwarded through the interview and Aaron's accident until I saw dirt, the same dirt that was in my dream. I saw the back of my body, then I saw my face. I hit pause and looked past me at Kelsey. Her head had been cocked slightly when I had turned to look at Aaron. Her image brought my skin to goose bumps, I continued the video but Aaron's camera had lowered and didn't lift again until she was running into the woods afraid.. I must have glared at Aaron longer than I thought for her to get over there as fast as what she did. I rewound the video until she was stood in front of us again.

I couldn't help but think in the few moments of being in her presence that she looked scared. Maybe she was scared of us? Or that we were in the house to begin with? Or maybe she wasn't scared of us but of the house itself?

I had questions, I wanted to know more about her and why she was fascinated with this house. It went deeper than her great- grandfather building it. I wanted to know why Corey refused to speak about her. Did he know her more than what he was letting on? Maybe they had dated for a while? Or he had a thing for her? All I know is there was something about her, there was a fascination in her to return to a place like that and I wanted to know what it was...
