Chapter 1: School.

Ghost walked into the dinning room in time to see that Paladin was shoving the last of the bacon in his mouth. The lion looked to him with wide eyes of surprise. It was as if he was caught in the middle of a crime. Ghost didn't really care though. He never really did get what the bacon craze was all about. It was just pork. Ghost much preferred barbacue with his meat anyways. He rolled his eyes at the big cat's behavior and sat down to shovel some of the scrambled eggs onto his plate while grabbing some toast.

When Prince came in he stared at the serving plate that once held the bacon. "What happened to the bacon?" He questioned aloud as Paladin shrugged like he didn't know, only for Ghost to point right at him. "There is your culprit. He was shoving the last of it in his mouth when I walked in." He said before taking a bite out of his toast. Prince glared at Paladin. "Seriously? That wasn't all for you!" He said angrily and Paladin just shrugged it off. He didn't really care. Not like Prince could beat him in a fight and they all knew it.

Prince growled before walking into the kitchen. "What are you doing?" Paladin called after him, but Prince didn't reply to him as he called out to Luna. "Hey, Luna, Paladin ate all the bacon before anyone else could get any again!" He cried out. "Yeah! I saw him eating the last of it when I walked in! Now me and Prince and get our proper protein!" Ghost called. He still didn't care about the bacon, he just loved messing with Paladin.

Paladin, however, sunk into his seat as Luna came storming in. The lioness was a fierce force to be reckoned with. Her dark brown hair hung in a bun as she came storming over. Her brown eyes were focused on her greedy cub as she glared. She wore a frilly pink apron and a white sundress, right now she was scary as all get out as she repremanded Paladin with Prince and Ghost watching him get what he deserves.

Luna excentuated her little rant with a slap to the back of Paladin's head. Paladin jerked forward a bit and growled. Luna glared. "Did you just growl at me young man?" She growled out as Prince watched with a smirk. Ghost pretended to be paying no mind, but he secretly enjoyed it. Paladin really did need to stop with his food hording habit.

"No mam, my lion is just pissy." Paladin grumbled out. It was obvious that he was NOT happy as he glared at Prince for ratting him out. "Don't you dare glare at Prince like that! He is just as much of a predator as you are young man and needs his protein to. Even Ghost needs his meats, now apologize to BOTH of them and you'll be apologizing to Blake when he gets out of his shower as well." Luna said with her hands on her hips.

"I'm sorry." Paladin said and Luna glared. "What for." She hissed and he groaned. "I'm sorry for eating your shares of the bacon my mom made." He said then looked at her with an 'are you happy now?' look. This just pissed her off more as she growled at her cub. Paladin just shrunk in his seat as Clayton came in. "What happened to the bacon?" He asked. Clayton did always enjoy his bacon sandwiches. Luna, Prince, and Ghost all pointed at Paladin. Clayton then glared at his dear son. "Seriously? I know you predatory shifters need more meat then humans, but I KNOW Luna cooked more then enough for everyone. Did you seriously eat ALL of our protions boy?" He asked, his redneck style southern accent getting thicker in his annoyance. Ghost couldn't help but chuckle because of this.

Clayton looked to him with a quirked eyebrow. "Somethin' funny boy?" Clayton asked. "Sorry, I just still can't get used to how your accent thickens so much at times like this. You sound like one of those cowboys from those old western movies." Ghost said with a chuckle. "Either way, I'm mad to ya know. I'm a predator my self so the lack of proper meat could throw me off today." Ghost then lied expertly. He knew how to defuse a situation. He did still want meat, but he knew he could just get that in the lunch room later. One of the good parts about being the animal he was, he's designed to handle being late in the meat department. Prince and Blake were two, but that didn't mean their cat's weren't annoyed at Paladin's behavior.

Male lions may be natural food horders, but didn't stop Luna from angering. Even in the wild Lioness's have been know to attack males that don't leave food for everyone else. Males, after all, are just sperm donors to them. They can survive just fine on their own. Better even. Hence, Luna was determined to teach her son not to food hord to much. Less he not be able to attract a Lioness in the future. Aggressive, yes. Possessive, yes. Strong, yes. Eats all the food, hell no!

Clayton sighed then looked back at Paladin with a glare. He didn't dare challenge Paladin, seeing as a human had no chance against a lion. He then sighed before sitting down with the newspaper as Luna went back to the kitchen. Prince then sat and grabbed what he could of what was left as Blake came in. "Were is the bacon? I know I smelled bacon." Blake said as Prince looked to him. "Paladin ate it all." He said and Blake sighed. "Paladin, why? You aren't the only one that likes bacon ya' know!" Blake said as he sat. He let his head fall back to stare at the ceiling with a groan. He never did dare to set off Paladin's lion these days. Now that Paladin was big enough to fight back and win Blake knew better then to start something he knew damn he couldn't finish. Well, unless Luna was present to back him up.

When breakfast was finished the boys headed off to their first day of school in their new town. They walked together while Paladin was grumbling. He then ran a hand through his thick black hair with a growl as they got a good ways away from the house. He then turned to Prince with a growl. "NEVER sell me out again you pipsqueak." He growled and Ghost got between the two as Prince started shaking. "Don't threaten him Paladin. You shouldn't have eaten all the bacon anyways. Luna made that for everyone so you deserved to be sold out. Now grow up." He said with no fear. Ghost's cat wasn't built for a fight as much as Paladin's lion was, but he'd be damned if he was gonna let Paladin bully their brother. He was still capable of fighting back and often embarrassed Paladin when he did since he was to fast for hr bigger and slower cat to catch.

Paladin growled and stepped down before stalking off to school. He knew better then to get in a fight with Ghost. Ghost then looked to Prince with a smile. "Just stick to me for the day." He said and Prince smiled with a nod.

Ghost and Prince walked a bit behind Paladin and the three brothers walked into the school office in silence. They waited to get their schedules and school maps rather quietly. Prince was nervously fixing his sandy blond hair while Ghost sat back lazily. Paladin sat with a confident demeanor as he stared straight ahead. Ghost looked to Paladin and rolled his eyes. He knew it was a nervous habit for the lion and didn't get why his brothers seemed so nervous. It was just a high school. He didn't really care. He just had one goal in mind, graduate without letting anyone know what he was.

When the brothers were handed their schedules and maps they went their separate ways. Ghost walked to his class, making it right as the teacher ended roll call. "And why is my class being interrupted?" The annoyed teacher questioned. With one sniff Ghost knew the woman was a jaguar. Her dirty blonde hair helped with that ID as well. Ghost just handed her a slip of paper that she needed to sign to prove he made it to her class.

She looked it over while taping her foot in an annoyed manor. "Oh, your the new student. Why are you so late?" She asked as she signed the paper and handed it to him. "The printer in the office malfunctioned." He replied. It was the truth to. He was pretty sure the poor receptionist would be covered in ink for the rest of the day at the least. "I see." The teacher said. "Well, introduce yourself to the class. Name, were you came from, what shifter you are, and so on." She said in an annoyed manor. Ghost looked to the class. "My name is Ghost Bayer, I moved here from Gorgia, and I'm a feline." He said then turned to her. "Where is my desk?" He asked in his usual uncaring tone.

The teacher raised a brow. "What feline are you?" She asked with a warning tone and he sighed. "I'm a predatory one." He answered and she growled. "All felines are predatory. What are you specifically?" She growled out. "Oh, that? Meh, I belong to the kingdom animalia, phylum chordata, class mammalia, order carnivora, suborder feliformia, family felidae, subfamily felinae, genus miracinonyx, and my species? My parents belong to that long list, but two separate species. mom was a trumani and dad was an inexpectatus." He answered and everyone just stared. No one was capable of figuring out what any of that was. Heck, he was sure none of them would remember what any of those words were due to how fast he said it. The teacher just pointed to the back. "Just take the empty seat back there." She said, her confusion causing her to calm down as she tried to register what just happened.

(A//N: Please, if you know what he is from that or even looked it up to find out, don't comment it here. I want those who choose to be surprised when I finnaly reveal what he is to actually be surprised. Please and thank you.)

Ghost took his seat happily and sat back as the lesson for the day went on. He felt proud of himself as he waited for the bell to ring. When the bell did ring he grabbed his stuff and ran out. He then took off for the bathroom and locked himself in the handicapped stall. He went to the mirror in there and took off his pheromone caller. A trinket meant to to block his pheromones that he constantly gave off. Taking it off could be dangerous, but he was allergic to the herb hiding in the bell that masked the pheromones, so he needed to remove the collar and wash his chest in the sink. The spot was already red and itchy with small hives. He growled as he grabbed the paper towels and scrubbed the spot with warm water and soap. He hated this, but it was necessary.

Once he felt he'd clean the area well enough he took a pill to help regulate his histamine levels before replacing the collar. He then threw the door to the bathroom open as he left and hit someone that was on the other side. He looked to see a boy now spralled on the ground. The male looked to him with a growl. "What the actual fuck?" He growled out and Ghost muttered a small string of swears. "Sorry, didn't see ya." He said as he offered a hand to help him up. The other boy just glared and slapped his hand away.

"Just watch it." He growled out as he stood up. Ghost just put in his hands in the air and made sure not to challenge him. The other boy was a, very angry, lion. Ghost knew he'd win in a fight, but that's against a lone lion like Paladin. This male most definitely had a pride that also attended the school and would definitely spring to his defense in a fight. That would leave Ghost outnumbered against much stronger predators. Not a good idea.

Ghost then slowly backed away with his head down. "I'm just having a rough first day man. I didn't mean anything by it. Really." He said, hoping the other boy could understand reason. The lion growled, but when he noticed Ghost backing down he huffed and stalked off. That was good.

Ghost then took off in the other direction with a sigh of relief. He got out of that, but definitely hopped he wouldn't run into the male again.

This was gonna be a long first day, wasn't it?
