~Chapter 5~
The chilly water splashed onto my skin as I followed the strange boy over towards the trees. I knew he was my so-called "soul mate", but I don't want Arthur to get upset. He's been so protective lately, and I don't want those efforts to feel like a waste. "So, what are we doing?" We were well in the grass now, and the sun warmed me up and gave me a small smile.
He shrugged. "I felt like my stupid brother would've done something either violent or stupid if we chatted over there. Sometimes I question why he's a vegan, but I never do it directly. I probably won't be getting an answer anyways."
I looked down at the grass for a moment. "Oh..." I looked back up at him after a couple moments of silence. "My brother and I get into fights, but we do it to look out for each other."
"Oh, we look out for each other, but only in...drastic situations, to put it simply." The boy reached out to grab my hand, but stopped. "Follow me." He turned around and headed towards the base of a pine tree. "Just be careful of that one branch." He said with a point.
"Why? Will it break?"
"Nah, some weird kid just decided that it was a good place to pee, so he urinated all over the branch."
"Oh..." I started to follow him up the tree. I didn't ask why. I decided that it was just for fun.
"Did I tell you my name?" The boy asked without looking down.
I shook my head, but realized that he wasn't looking. "No."
"Oh. The name's Matt. It ain't a shorter version of Matthew, it's just Matt."
"Huh. My brother sometimes call me Mattie."
Matt chuckled and muttered, "That's cute..." But it was so faint I wasn't completely sure if I heard correctly. I felt a light blush on my cheeks anyways, but luckily he still wasn't looking down. I wonder if he even knows how high up we are... I wondered and looked down myself. We were getting pretty high. I'm not sure if I want to go too much higher...
"Hey Matthew, come up here." I looked back up to see Matt sitting on a branch. I climbed up and sat on the branch that's practically in front of him. "You had your voice already, didn't you?"
My eyes widened a bit, but I assumed that he researched this like many kids do when they think about their stone and what happens when you find your love and whatnot. I nodded. "You?"
Matt nodded as well. "I heard your faint voice — could hardly tell if it was just the wind or not — and it told me to wait right where I was. You'll come to me yourself..." He smiled at me. "And here you are now."
I blushed and looked down with a smile tugging at my lips. "W-Why did you take me up here to tell me?" I said quietly.
He shrugged. "I guess it's my dad, or dads. One isn't really into love, and the other is either all for it or throws up whenever the topic is brought up." He rolled his eyes. "I guess it's better to tell you without my one dad offering a possibly-poisonous cupcake." I gulped. "But don't worry. He's a great cook, but...sometimes he likes to play around with his ingredients."
I wasn't sure how I felt about his dad's cooking skills, but I decided not to question it. "Do you remember when you got your voice?"
Matt shrugged again. "I'm not exactly sure. Maybe when I was about six, seven, maybe eight years old I guess. Allen didn't really care a whole lot, and my one dad said that I was lucky to get it at such a young age."
"The same with my parents. I got my voice when I was seven. It was right after I told my brother that there was a ghost in the woods, and he's terrified of them." I chuckled as I remembered that day. "It happened before I even knew what a voice was. For a moment I thought that I was right and the woods were actually haunted!"
I smiled a bit wider when Matt laughed. "So anyways, did your family move here, or is this just a vacation?"
"It's just a vacation." I answered. "We're going to Science World on Thursday."
Matt nodded. "I think it would be better if I told my parents about this whole 'soulmate' thing then. We bought membership there a while ago, so I could probably get them to go if I have my one dad on my side."
"That sounds good." I said. I wonder if I should tell my parents then...
"You can tell your people whenever. I trust you."

"EARTH TO MATTHEW, WAKE YOUR FACE UP!" Alfred shoved the sleeping Matthew off his bed. Jeez, what are you dreaming of? Alfred thought to himself, frustrated. Matthew sat up and glared at Alfred, who was now kneeling on the bed. "I swear, you're becoming a heavier sleeper than me on a boring weekend. You used to barely sleep at all!"
"Well, you didn't have to make me fall on my face!"
"I tried poking, yelling, and I even kicked you once!"
"Wait, you kicked me?"
"Maybe...Dad's cooking breakfast, so be careful." Alfred walked out of the room, done with his brother. I won't be surprised if he was thinking of that dude at the water park...
"Alfred," Francis called from the couch, "come over here."
Alfred walked over to him. "What's up?"
"How are you doing?" He asked. "You know, with Matthew's discovery and all?"
Alfred chuckled and smiled. "Eh, I don't really know what to think about it, so I'm just treating him like my same old brother!"
Francis smiled and shook his head. "That's not what I meant, mon ami. How do you feel about it?"
Oh... "I...don't...know?" Alfred answered. I guess I'm feeling happy about it?
You liar.
Alfred shook his head. "I guess I feel happy for him. He doesn't have to question who exactly is his soulmate. Everything will just work out!" He finished with a smile.
Lies.
Oh stop it!
You can't fight the truth.
Watch me!
Francis smiled. "Oh, well that's good. If you need anything, just remember, Arthur and I will be here for you."
"I know!" Alfred smiled and sat on the other side of the couch to watch what's on the television.
Francis looked over at him. "You excited for Science World?"
"OF COURSE!"

"WOAH, IT'S HUGE! It's literally a sphere!" Alfred exclaimed loudly as the family walked towards the building.
Arthur looked up at the large structure. "It looks like we have a lot to explore!"
Francis chuckled. "It'll be great!" Matthew smiled at the whole scene. I'm sure we'll do plenty before we bump into Matt and them.
Francis led the way into the building. "Look at all these people!" Alfred exclaimed as he saw the line for tickets. "Do we really have to wait in line?"
Arthur shook his head. "No. Francis ordered tickets online, so we just have to head over there." He pointed towards another line, but it was smaller than the line to buy tickets.
"Great!" Alfred took Arthur's hand and dragged him towards the line. Francis chuckled and placed a hand on Matthew's back as he followed them.

They've spent a good two and a half hours so far at Science World. Apparently most of the activities were for children twelve and under, but with Alfred being Alfred, both he and Matthew had tons of fun. Even Francis and Arthur were enjoying themselves when exploring what the building had in store. They went through an exhibit about bugs, how things worked, the human body, and several other things. Alfred was in a laughing fit when they found a machine that guesses what you'll look like after several years. In his opinion, everyone looked like a dork seventy years in the future.
The family was walking through a room. Something bright caught Alfred's eyes as they went around a corner. "Hey, Papa, what's that?" Alfred asked with a smile and grabbed the startled Arthur's hand, dragging him towards the stage area. Arthur tripped and almost fell as he muttered a few curses, but Alfred didn't really care at the moment.
There was a man on stage and a child who seems to be about ten years old. He had a tube in his hand, and the man was standing near a container filled with something. Alfred didn't really pay attention as he watched from the edge of the crowd. The man said something about oxygen, and the child blew into the tube, causing a large fire to burst out of the container. "WOAH!" Alfred shouted. "That's cool!"
"Did you hear what he was saying?" Matthew asked.
Alfred shook his head. "Nope! But I didn't need to!"
Matthew face palmed. The child on the stage went off stage and back to his parents. "That's all we have for now," the man on stage spoke up, "our next performance is at one thirty, so we'll see you then!" Hm...I wonder what the next performance will be about... Matthew wondered.
"Hey Dad, can we get food?" Alfred asked, looking up at Arthur.
He checked his watch. "Sure. It's about lunchtime anyways, and we have an hour until the next performance starts if you want to catch it."
Alfred nodded. "Yeah! I don't even care if I look like a dork-"
"Because you'll always be a dork at heart." Matthew interrupted.
Alfred shrugged, not really up for another argument. "Anyways, lets go food!"

"Come on, Mattie, it's starting soon!"
"We have ten minutes before it starts. I'm going to the bathroom."
"But Mattie~! We need to get the best seats!"
"And I need to make sure I don't have to miss part of the middle!"
"But-"
"Alfred, stop. Go to the bathroom with Matthew." Arthur snapped. He glanced at Francis, who raised an eyebrow suggestively, and slapped him on the shoulder.
Alfred rolled his eyes and followed his brother to the bathroom. "If we end up in the back, I'm blaming you."
"Aren't you supposed to let the smaller kids in front? Don't you call yourself a hero?" Matthew said with a smirk. Alfred didn't say anything...

"Can I take a volunteer?" The woman on stage asked the crowd. Several hands flew up. Some were waving as if saying 'hello', some were raised like a student in a classroom, and some - like Alfred - were raised as if they will die if they didn't get picked. Matthew rolled his eyes as he realized that most of the hands were raised like Alfred's.
He was about to remind him that she told the crowd that she will only pick people who didn't look like they were about to wet their pants - well, that was what it sounded like to Matthew - and she will pick people who looks, more or less, not like Alfred at the moment. Matthew decided against it, since it will probably go in one ear and out the other like the last three times. Heck, they're young teenagers in front of a crowd of six or seven year olds, all for a presentation about bubbles.
Matthew sighed. This was getting the show nowhere. I guess it wouldn't hurt to volunteer... He raised his hand, half-hoping that he wouldn't get picked. "How about you, in the front?" Oh... After hearing a childish whine from Alfred and a few moments of whining children, Matthew found himself on stage inside a giant bubble. To be honest, it was pretty cool, but it would be more fun if he wasn't in front of a large crowd. "Lets see exactly how many people we can fit in a single bubble! Matthew, can you pop the bubble?" Matthew did what he was asked to do. He saw Francis from the edge of the crowd raise an eyebrow at Arthur again, but he just rolled his eyes and continued to watch.
The woman searched the crowd again, and she stopped as she saw a man with pale ginger hair holding up his son's hand in the air. She chuckled to herself and called his child to the stage. To be honest, Matthew dozed off while she was picking the volunteer. He went back to reality as he felt a tap on his shoulder. "Matthew, are you ready to get in the bubble?" The woman asked with a smile. Matthew nodded, and the woman turned to the new volunteer. "And what about you, Matt?" Wait, Matt? He looked past the woman's shoulder, and he saw the same guy at the water park as he nodded. Matthew couldn't help but blush, but luckily the children are oblivious. Besides, he could tell that it was barely visible. At least, I hope no one can see it...
Matt nodded a 'yes' to the woman. "Alright, you two stand inside the chalk circle on the ground. Who thinks that we'll be able to made them fit in a bubble?" She asked the crowd. There was a chorus of 'yes' and a few 'no's' from a few bored teens forced to watch because of their younger siblings.
Standing on stage felt like forever. After they stood in the bubble for a minute or two, the woman started calling younger children to come up stage with the two teenagers. In Matthew's opinion, it felt too awkward, and he didn't like being pressed up against Matt and a bunch of tiny screaming children in a bubble that wasn't big enough for all of them.
Finally, the show was over, and Matthew could finally get off stage. He breathed a sigh of relief. He saw Alfred heading to the back of the crowd to Arthur and Francis. Matthew looked back over at Matt, who gave him a small grin. Matthew didn't know what to do, so he turned around and stepped off the low stage. He saw Arthur walk over to him. Matthew smiled, but then got confused when he walked right past him. He turned around to see Arthur with his hands on Matt's shoulders with a glare in his eyes. Startled, Matt met his gaze as Arthur spoke.
