Chap 18 - Weddin' Bells a'Ringin'!
(Error)
Staying the night at Ink was always fun. Sure it felt like we did the same thing, but I loved spending time with him.
I basically moved in with him. So much so I would bring his mail up whenever I visited. Flicking through it as I went up to his loft, I paused at a letter, a fancy looking one at that, from Reaper and Geno.
Reaching Ink's door, going ahead and entering, I looked up, "Hey Inky, guess what..."
He was in the kitchen. He turned those pretty, curious eyes on me and I had to smile as he said, "What?"
"I think you got an invitation," I waved the letter, "To my brother's wedding."
"Ooh~" he wandered over and took the letter, leaving the rest of the mail in my hand as he went to crash on his ottoman. He fell back as he opened it, reading it over. He giggled, doing a body shake of uncontrollable excitement as he sat up, "Lookie! Lookie! Isn't it adorable?!"
Taking the letter, I looked it over as Ink sorted his other mail. It made me smile, because I knew that the letter was all Geno's doing. He loved using words. It was elegant and wordy, written in a loopy font. On the front was the announcement of the wedding, the location and the location of the reception. On the back was the RSVP form, with dinner options, guest info, et cetera.
"So..." I sighed, "We're going to a wedding."
Ink nodded, beaming, "Uh-huh!"
------
For once in a... really long time, I was home. Ink and I have been dating for almost nine months now. Ink was at a meeting with G about work so I had to go to my apartment and make sure nothing was rotting or anything. I had to throw out some fruit and milk. It's been that long since I was really in my apartment.
After about an hour, I heard loud knocking at my door. I sighed, hoping it was worth it.
It was. I opened the door to a beaming Geno, which was a rare occurrence in and of itself. He came in with a girly, excited, squeal-like giggle and kept beaming.
"Hey Gen-"
"I get married in two months!" he said hurriedly, "Error I'm getting married!"
"I know. I got the invit-"
"Will you be my man of honor?"
That made me pause. Geno went and sat on the couch as I did, looking at me nervously.
Man of honor? Basically best man. In front of everyone. At the main table. Exposed to everyone. Everyone. So many people...
"Uhhh..." I looked at Geno's hopeful, nervous face. I swallowed, "F-for you, Geno."
He sighed and relaxed, "Really?"
"Yeah. But I ain't wearing a damn dress."
"Oh thank you! And don't worry, I told Reaper the same thing."
That made me snort, "How'd he take that?" I asked as I sat down nearby.
Geno flipped his hair, smiling slightly, "The pout he gave me would make a puppy cry," he said, "I won't be wearing a dress during the wedding but I will be wearing white and Reaper says he has a surprise for me. I told him if he bought me any sort of dress he expected me to wear in public, I would burn it. Since he didn't pout I'm assuming he got smart and didn't get me a dress."
"Buuuuuut it's Reaper," I pointed out. Reaper was famous for his poker face. He could play around with it so well that he actually got banned from a casino because they were convinced he kept cheating but they never proved it. And he didn't help matters.
Geno nodded with a small, breathless sigh as he leaned back, "Yeah, it's Reaper..." he muttered, staring off into dream space. We were both quiet for a long time before Geno cleared his throat and sat up, looking at me.
He stared at me in more silence, his lips pursed thoughtfully. I just let him, thinking about Ink and missing him.
Soon the silence stretched to awkward as Geno kept staring at me. I looked at him, seeing him almost study me. It started making me feel odd. Why was he staring?
"Uhh... Geno?"
"Hmm?"
"Why are you staring at me?"
".......do you have a suit?"

"So how come I'm not working this weekend?" I asked. G was going through the liquor inventory for the bar in the club. He glanced back, looking back at the bottles.
"Cause we got a different gig," he said, sighing as he looked over the bottles in mild disappointment. One of his new bartenders was new to the trade and kept over-pouring.
"...what?"
He sighed again and looked back at me, "You are up for private gigs again, right?"
"Yeah but I have a boyfriend-"
"Not that kind of gig," G said as he stood up, setting his clipboard aside. It was still fun to watch his business side because he was so easy going, "I got us booked for a private party, dancing only."
"Aaaaaaaand?" I raised my eyebrow. He wasn't explaining this well.
"It's Reaper's bachelor party."
That took me a moment to register, because my honest first thought was 'why does he need a bachelor party?' Then my eyes widened and I blinked, "He hired us? Why?"
G grinned, shrugging, "I dunno. Want's a show. And Geno knows us so he won't have to worry."
I thought about it, then smiled, "That'll be fun."
He nodded, "I thought you'd think so. It's in two weeks. Wanna do costumes or paint?" he asked.
I hummed, "You're doing it with me, right?"
He nodded again, "Of course. Team effort."
My legs swung back and forth and I slid off my stool, "I'm gonna raid my dressing room, see what inspires me."
"You do that. I gotta keep counting," he said as he picked his clipboard up.
Wandering back to my room, I went to my set of costumes. I dragged my hand through them, looking at them. I had quite a few outfits designed to go for paint. But... I didn't think I wanted paint for a party. It's Reaper... hmmm.... and Geno, whom I've met a few times...
A quick slide to the side let me look at some outfits. I grabbed a couple and went to G's room, setting the stuff on his little sofa. Then I raided his closet and grabbed some matching or coordinating outfits.
Then I had some sets on the bed and stood, looking them over. I switched some things, flipped some things, walked around the little sofa. Kept wandering and mumbling to myself.
Finally I settled on our good boy/ bad boy outfits. For me, it was some baby blue ripped jean shorts and a really cute blousy white top. For G, it would be black holed jeans, dark tank top, and G's favorite leather vest. Plus accessories as needed.
Smiling myself, I grabbed our outfits and went to see G about my decision. He was still counting bottles. He had made progress though. He'd moved from bottom shelf to the top shelf, so he was almost done. I set the outfits down on a table and sat on a stool, waiting for him to be done before we could chat. It was just nice to wait when he was in a rhythm.
When G had finished up he turned. He gave me a small smile, the tattoos on his face curving around it. I smiled back and got up, "I have found us some costumes!"
He grinned, leaning forward, "Alright. Shoot."
I grinned and laid out the outfits, "Since I am a taken man, I will play the good boy for our little act. And you, my dragon-tattooed fellow, will be the bad boy. Sound fun?"
"Sounds great," G said, "Perfect for this gig too."
I grinned, "Wonderful!"
I checked my phone, smiling, "Apparently Geno needs to take Error shopping. I gotta go home and take care of Aquarelle. She's getting so big, it's adorable," he said.
G nodded, "Of course. Thanks for coming. Glad we talked that over."
I waved and then skipped out, feeling happy. I sent Error a text saying I would be at home for Aqua so he could go out shopping with Geno. Then I just worked on walking home, humming.
(Error)
Geno helped me clean up my apartment for a while. I got Ink's text shortly after I sent him mine. I smiled ruefully. Looks like I no longer had an excuse to wait.
With a soft sigh I turned around, "Hey Gen. Ink's heading home so my afternoon is free. We can... go shopping."
My brother squealed so loud I covered my ears. He was in a very excitable mood because of the impending wedding. Once he composed himself and had his breathing under control, he smiled, "That's great. Let's head out, get a late lunch, and go shopping."
I sighed, "Alright. But you're buying lunch."
-------
Geno knew what venues I enjoyed. We found a little cafe and sat in a back corner booth, out of sight and out of the way. And as soon as we sat down, Geno started going over what he's already had planned for the wedding. He was so excited about all the stuff he talked about, I tried my best to actually pay attention. But then he started listing names of types of flowers for his arrangements and I lost the thread. So I just nodded along politely.
We had ordered when we sat down, and I was a little grateful for the break in conversation that arrived when our food did. For me, a steak and pepper sandwich with steak-cut French fries. For Geno, a grilled chicken baby greens salad. I gave him a raised eyebrow and he shrugged, mumbling something about a dietitian's advice.
"Since when do you diet, Gen?" I asked him as we started to eat.
"About three months now," Geno admitted softly, "I got a book on dieting for illness regulation. I read it and started planning meals. My skin looks healthier and I haven't had any heart emergencies in two months." Geno had several health problems, the main one of which was a congenital heart disease. But as he explained, I noticed he did have more color than normal and his eyes seemed brighter.
Geno glanced around before leaning forward, "I've lost fifteen pounds, and am still toning out slowly. Reaper is excited because apparently my ass looks nicer," he had a faint blush, "He says I'm gonna need to have my suit altered."
I rolled my eyes, "Honestly..." I muttered. But I smiled at Geno, "I'm happy for you Geno. Does it make your pills work better?"
Geno nodded, smiling as he ate, "I've moved onto a lower dose for two of them. And I need fewer supplements now that I've balanced what I eat."
With a grin, I nudged him, "I'm proud of you, Gen. I know it must've been hard to give up pizza."
Geno snorted and we both just laughed for a bit. A good honest laugh. It was hard to understand what was so funny, but it just was. Probably because Geno wouldn't give up pizza for anything.
"Well, I haven't," Geno admitted as we calmed down and kept eating, "I just have to be careful with my toppings."
"And how does the Protein Powerhouse take to that strategy?" I joked.
Geno chuckled, "At first, not well. You know Reaper: it's a Meat Lovers and nothing less. I'm amazed he's not on cholesterol medication with how much red meat he eats."
"Well, not all the meat he eats is red..." I reminded him, wiggling my eyebrows. Geno huffed and punched my arm, giving me that little glare from the Geno I know and love. This was going to be a fun shopping trip.

A needy whine met me as I entered the apartment. Aquarelle needed to stay in her crate when we both were out. But she looked desperate for a pee. My cheeks stretched as I smiled, walking over. She was getting lankier every day, and her long legs stretched as she jumped on me when I let her out.
"Down, baby, down," I ordered her, forcing her feet down, "Sit!"
She planted her butt down, tail wagging wildly. I grabbed the leash and she forgot she was supposed to be sitting as she jumped up again, barking. Laughing, I pushed her down, "Sit, Aqua!" I told her. She did that half-sit on her haunches, too excited to fully sit as I put the leash on her collar. As soon as I stood straight, she bolted for the door.
The leash was extendable, but I hit the brake on it so she didn't yank it all the way. She whipped around slightly from the momentum, turning to stare at me and bark some more. I walked over, making sure I still had my phone and my keys on me before taking her out for a little walk.
As we reached the street, she went to the little tree on the sidewalk and quickly did her business. Then, with a little tug, we began walking around the block so she could get some exercise. And also so I could stretch my leg.
It felt so freeing to be able to just walk without aches or pains. Yeah, I had been fully recovered for a while now, but it still struck me every time I went for a walk. Being couch-bound for so long showed me just how active I was used to being, and gave me some perspective on it.
During the mindless walk, absently keeping Aquarelle by my side, I began to think about the upcoming wedding. Weddings made me so excited. I really couldn't wait to go. Weddings and particularly wedding receptions were some of my favorite things to attend. I had never crashed a wedding. It was horribly rude, in my opinion. But I was always fun when I got to attend.
Then I remembered the bachelor party. My face warmed up. I'd been to a few bachelor parties, but normally they had call girls. I'd never been to, let alone been the entertainment for, a gay bachelor party for a gay wedding.
Least of all for a close personal friend getting married to my boyfriend's brother.
It made me happy I chose good boy/bad boy for our theme, and for me being the 'good boy'. There had been a lot of other fun options I knew Reaper would enjoy. He was into some curious things, which made me pause to wonder how Geno stuck around. And that lead me down the path of wondering what little old Geno was into...
What Error might be into...
A sudden jerk in my arm brought me back down to earth. I looked around for Aquarelle, seeing her going absolutely nuts with some teenagers. A smile graced my face as I saw Undyne and her little crew, who of course had met the pup and were having some fun petting her. I followed the leash, "Hey guys!" I called, "What's up?"
Undyne looked up, smiling, "Hi Ink. You coming to the park today?"
"Not today. Got some stuff to do at home. Error's brother is getting married and I have to plan out my outfit!"
MK looked up from giving Aquarelle belly rubs with his false arm, smiling, "That's really cool, Ink! When are they getting married?"
"Two months, end of the summer," I told them, "I'll try and be at the park once a week alright? Right now, I gotta get this little kid home."
I scooped up Aquarelle, who looked half asleep. She never had much energy and already looked worn out. She actually yawned as I held her to my chest, letting everyone get in some last pets and goodbyes. The little crew waved goodbye, taking off on their various scooters, bikes, and boards.
Then I turned around, carrying my cute little puppy all the way back to my apartment.
----
Aqua fell asleep in my arms, so I gently laid her on the couch before slumping onto it myself. With the remote, I turned the TV on, then grabbed my sketchbook. Just as I opened it, I hummed. I didn't know what to draw...
As my pencil began to dance across the page, I watched the paper with a blank stare. Halfway through it, I smiled. More detail, more lines, erase this, shade that...
Two wedding bells, crossed in an abstract heart bound by a ribbon. The long end on the left said 'Reaper', then a bell, a small bend of ribbon had an elaborate '&', then the second bell. The last tail of the ribbon said 'Geno'. Below it, I wrote the date of their wedding.
With a happy grin, I made sure to bookmark the page. Reaper might want that as a tattoo, since G had mentioned him wanting one for him and Geno. He had always loved and respected my art, so I had a feeling he might appreciate it.
Finished with my little drawing, I sat back and watched the TV. I pet Aqua gently, just losing myself to the distraction as I waited for Error to come back home.
(Error)
As much as I hate suit shopping, I love the expression on Geno's face. When he wasn't viewing my outfit critically, he sat in the waiting room with this peaceful, in-love smile and a distant look in his eye. He thought I couldn't see, but I caught glimpses of him as I changed through suit after suit.
I wasn't sure if Geno was trying to make me match him or the wedding theme in general, or trying to find a suit that went with my darker complexion. I got our father's Native American complexion, while both my brothers got our mother's pale Irish skin. Plus, Geno being so unwell so often meant he was extra pale. But the rose tint to his cheeks and the brightness of his eyes... he hadn't been joking. His new diet really was making him better. Of course, not everything he had could be taken care of with diet. He had a long list of issues.
With a sigh, I opened up the changing room door and stepped out in suit trial number... I stopped counting three suits ago. I went and stood by the mirrors, turning slightly as Geno got to his feet and looked me up and down from every angle.
He huffed, looking annoyed. "Doesn't look right..." he mumbled, considering me up and down again, "It just... doesn't..." he trailed off with half a thought.
"Suit me?"
Geno gave me half a glare as I snorted. But he also had a tiny smile under those long bleached white bangs. He had gone grey slightly so he just started bleaching all his hair.
He hummed, "No, no, let's try again," he said, shooing me back into the dressing room. He then went to find another suit for me to try.
I sighed, but kept with it. This meant a lot to Geno and I didn't want to spoil this time together with losing my patience. It would just suck all around if I did that. Plus, Geno looked so happy right now.
He came back and threw it over the door while I changed. I hummed, changing. I liked this one. I had sort of liked a few but this one felt nice. I exited the changing room and stood in front of the mirrors, looking at myself. Geno got up to come look at me, tilting his head a little.
It was a deep royal blue three piece suit. The undershirt was a pale lemon sorbet color, not white. Geno hummed and then grabbed a few ties, draping them over. He draped a light blue, a yellow one, and a deep magenta with a faint swirly pattern. I hummed, "I like the magenta one..."
Geno was quiet for a bit before smiling, "I do too, it just... works."
I smiled more, "Then let's get this one and call it a day. I love it."
Geno nodded, "Yes I agree. Go get dressed and we can check out."
Nodding, I went back to the changing room. Finally, we're done... I was so ready to leave. As quick as I could, I got out of the suit and back into my regular clothes. I carried the bits of the suit out and went to Geno, who smiled. He held up a pocket square, "I found a matching one!" It was yellow with a magenta floral pattern. I just smiled, "Looks great Geno."
He beamed at me as we checked out the suit and all accessories. I gave him a half hug, giving him a squeeze, "It's nice seeing you so happy Geno."
He looked up at me, "...You too, Error. You've been so much brighter since you met Ink."
I blinked, "I have? It's been that noticeable?"
He nodded as we took the garment bag of the suit and walked out. I slung it over my shoulder, walking beside my brother. He hummed a little and checked his phone, smiling, "Reaper's getting out of work. I should head home," he said.
I nodded, "Ink's probably waiting for me, too. But I've had fun, Geno. A lot of fun."
Geno smiled and gave me a big hug, "Thank you so much Error. For saying yes, for being my man of honor... for just... doing all this."
I smiled and hugged him back. It only lasted for a few seconds but it was something. Geno was one of the few people I could touch.
He stepped back and then waved, letting me walk home. He had to go get his car from the parking garage to drive to Reaper. But Ink didn't live far from the suit shop we had been in. So it wasn't much of a walk.
Soon I was back at Ink's. I headed upstairs, humming a little. My garment bag swished behind me as I opened up the door.
Happy barks met me as soon as the door swung open and I was tackled. I grunted, looking down at Aquarelle as she jumped on me. She was getting tall. "Sit, Aqua!" I told her. She went on her haunches, wagging her tail. I smiled and pet her head, stepping inside properly. Ink got up and came over, "Hey babe!"
I smiled, "Hey Inky. Look, I got a suit," I told him, holding up the garment bag. He smiled, "Wonderful!" he said, "I picked out my suit for the wedding too, I'll hang this up next to it."
Then he took the garment bag and went up to the loft, humming to himself. Meanwhile, I settled myself on the couch with a sigh. Aqua came over and made herself comfy on my feet.
I smiled, petting her ears. Ink returned and plopped right beside me, beaming gently. He wasn't touching me but I could feel how warm he was. So I turned my head to gaze at him, smiling back. He hummed at me, "Sooooo did you two talk about anything?"
I chuckled, "Not much but brother stuff... why?"
"Well, G told me he had a private gig for him and I to do. I got defensive until he told me it was just dancing. So I got to pick out some fun costumes. But guess what?"
"What?" I asked, bemused.
He grinned, "It's a bachelors party."
"Oh?" I asked, quietly bristling at the idea.
"Your brother's fiance's bachelors party."
At first, I was still jealous. Then I blinked, and snickered, "Wait... Reaper hired you and G?"
Ink nodded and laid on the armrest, bringing his legs up, "Yup."
I rolled my eyes, "Of course he did. He must've talked Geno into it, but he never mentioned it to me. I think we were too busy bonding for him to think much about it."
Ink beamed at me and them went quiet, "How do you feel about me doing it?"
I looked over at him, humming softly, "I trust you, Inky... I trust G, and Reaper. I'll be okay. I just might have to stick myself in a corner."
"Oh? because of the touching?"
I looked at him seriously and he sat up, confused. Then I slowly just grinned.
"No. So I don't deck anyone for the front row seat."
