Chapter 5: Annabeth recites a Prophecy

Special Dedication to @Read_Write_hope! The correct answer is a blue cupcake! Thanks for reading!

Thalia and Annabeth sat in a coffee shop not far from the old mansion. Thalia had left her quiver and bow with the Mystery gang that Annabeth had been hanging with.

Daphne, the girl in the purple dress had gotten very mad at her for talking traps with the blond haired guy, Fred. Thalia bit her lip remembering that conversation.

"Relax Daphne." Annabeth said. "She doesn't date."

"Well...." Thalia rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly.

"Oh My Gods. Was it Nico? If it was Piper owes five bucks!" Annabeth squealed. Thalia's face burned red.

"You bet on me?" Thalia said.

"Yep! was it Nico?" Annabeth asked.

"The world may never know." Thalia said mutual as she could.

Annabeth frowned. Thalia hoped that she had created enough doubt in her for her not to mention it again.

"Soooooo...." Annabeth said taking a sip of her coffee.

"Soooooo...." Thalia mimicked. her finger traced the design on the table. It was relatively quiet, them and only a few other people in the restaurant. "About that prophecy..."

Annabeth laughed nervously. "Rachel showed up on my doorstep, that house I'm sharing with Velma, and asked to talk. I said okay for old times sake, ya know? And she told me she thought she had another prophecy and that she didn't remember anything about it.

"So I asked the Oracle, and she told me. I just got a little crossed. I mean it seemed pretty set in stone for us, yet again. I just don't want to do this anymore Thals. I'm terrified of what could happen this time."

"Okay that's great and stuff, but I still have no idea what the heck this prophecy is." Thalia said becoming frustrated."How do you even know it's about us?"

Annabeth smiled grimly.

"A cursed gem a soul shall reap,

To end a maidens endless sleep.

A call for help on a lonely shore,

A pain so deep only times a cure.

A son of the sea, forgotten, unloved,

As thieves chase the flower and dove,

And lightning flashes, bold and true,

To fight for a love made for two.

In cold blood a hero's final breath,

It bares not his true death."

"Yep that sounds like us." Thalia said mauling over the new information.

"That's not all." Annabeth said. Thalia was surprised to find fear in her friends eyes. "The Oracle said a second half. Thalia...it's dark."

Annabeth took a shuddering breath.

"So hear me now Olympus's final hope,

Your gods' lives are chained with rope.

Wisdom fights the losing battle unaided,

For even the shadows have been tainted.

Beware! The Gods on high slowly fade,

As goodness takes a different shade.

All it takes is one small bow.

Persevere, Demigods, the end starts NOW."

Annabeth was shaking by the time she finished. Thalia didn't know what to say. The first line sound so much like the prophecy about Luke. Instantly a flood of emotions swarmed her. She missed Luke like there was no tomorrow. He'd saved her from depression, after she found out about her giving away Jason. If only she could have helped save him.

"Hello? Is this working? Thalia!" Thalia looked around before noticing the Iris Message right next to her. She could see Jason's joyful outline and a short curly haired midget she assumed was Leo.

"Jason? You found him?"Thalia exclaimed. "H-how'd you get the Iris messaging to work?"

"It's not an Iris Message. It's a Felicia message!" Leo said obviously pleased. "Remember that girl who was working with Iris during Percy, Frank's and Hazel's?"

"Oh."

"I wonder why that's working and not Iris messages...." Annabeth mumbled. Thalia and Jason shrugged.

"Uh...um...Thalia." Leo said nervously. "There's something you should know. Camp isn't....um....safe."

Thalia narrowed her eyes. "What?"

Jason and Leo looked at each other. Thalia noticed Leo's hand slightly putting pressure on his side. "There isn't even a camp anymore. Someone's been there. A lot of someone's actually. Half of the cabins were burned down, the ground trampled, dead bodies here and there. There's no sign of Rachel either."

Thalia was speechless. Who would burn down camp?! This made no sense. "Who were the bodies?" She finally choked out.

"That's the craziest part." Jason said. "They're pirates!"

"Pirates?"

"Yeah. Like really, with eye patches and rum and rusty swords." Leo said. A look of pain flashed his face as he shifted weight but was gone so fast Thalia must have imagined it. "Look I think Jason and I are going to visit Hazel. I remember the hospital Percy said he was going to put her in. St. Mungo's, I think."

"Uh, great. We'll-" Thalia glanced at Annabeth. "I'll- Meet you there." She swiped her hand through the message, before they could reply. Thalia could see on her friends face she wasn't going to leave this town just yet. And Thalia couldn't force Annabeth to come with her.

"All I wanted was to have a nice life with Percy. And then Hera shipped him off to the Romans. And then we fell into...that place. And then we fight a war with mother freaking earth and then everyone goes missing. Then I make a stupid mistake. Yes, Thalia even daughters of Athena make mistakes! And now I'm terrified that this time we won't be able to stop the end of the world. I don't want to be a hero anymore." Annabeth said.

"Ok I'll just kill you now then!" Thalia and Annabeth jumped up. Standing behind them, was (cue eye roll) Kelli the empousa. She wore a waitress outfit but her hair coughed with flames. Thalia went for her arrows before cursing while realizing she left them with Annabeth's friends.

"Didn't anyone tell you we already stopped Gaia?" Thalia said stepping away. Kelli smiled her eyes looking terrifyingly demon like.

"That's funny. Valdez said the same thing right before I poisoned him." Kelli hissed and ran at them.

Thalia's eyes went wide as Kelli's claws narrowly missed her head. Thalia grabbed Annabeth's hot coffee off the table and splashed it in Kelli's hair. Suddenly why Leo was acting as if he was in pain made sense. But how was it possible that Kelli had gotten all the way to Crystal Cove the time took Jason to fly to camp?

At that moment Thalia had bigger things to worry about.

"Where did you get claws?" She asked the empousa.

"My new master!" She cackled. "He promised me power!"

"Don't they all?" Annabeth sighed. She flipped the table over on Kelli. "Run!" Annabeth grabbed Thalia's hand as they leapt over the flattened empousa. They burst through the glass doors of the shop.

"Look out!"Thalia screamed as something swooped from above. They kept running. "Where's your dagger?!"

"I left it at home! Monsters don't like it here so I didn't think I'd need it!"

"Wonderful!"

Thalia ducked at a ball of fire swept up the street. "I need my arrows!"

"This way!"

Annabeth tugged her down a street. Thalia followed screams sang out behind them as a crashing and tumbling sound followed them. Thalia was to scared to even look back to see what was following.

Finally they saw the Mystery Machine up ahead, the back doors open wide and Shaggy motioning for them to hurry. Annabeth hurled herself into the back seat and Thalia lept after her tumble head over heels as the Fred gunned engine.

"Whoa. Like what did you guys do?" Shaggy yelped. For some reason he was upside down. It took Thalia a moment to realize she was the one upside down.

"Thalia are you ok?" Annabeth moaned.

"Yep totally. Now give me my arrows." She demanded. She attempted to stand up almost hitting her head on the ceiling of the van. The dog, Scooby, handed her her quiver. Thalia took a deep breath praying to Artemis, -even though she was still really mad with her- to help her.

"Hey what are you-HOLY-!" Thalia ignored the scream that came from Velma's mouth as she kicked open to back doors to the van and smiled the first monster that was trying to bite her head off. A Hellhound.

"Hello." Thalia smirked. She let the arrow fly.
