Jimin's POV

I had wished so hard that nothing bad would happen today at prom. But after seeing my two best friends start yet another fight just outside of the party made me regret coming in the first place.

Once Jackson had given up, I knew it wasn't completely over. Yet, I still tried my best to keep a smile on my face and rejoin everybody inside.

"Jimin, are you okay?" my boyfriend asks me, trying to catch up with my quick strides.

I want to tell him that I'm not. That even up to know, when we're a week away from graduating, my friends are still in this stupid war that no one should care about. I want to tell him that I don't want to be here anymore and that all I want to do is go home and cry in his arms. But all I can manage to do is give him a small nod before rushing into the party.

I'm able to feel a little better, upon seeing Taehyung and Jungkook laughing and standing close together by the punch table and Jinyoung and Jisoo smiling at each other, arms linked.

I spot Yugyeom on the other side of the room and walk towards him. I could use his company right now.

"Hey, Chim, how are you feeling?" he smiles as soon as he sees me.

"Honestly, I don't even know at this point. How 'bout you? Is prom the night of your dreams, like you said it'd be?"

"Well it's okay, aside from the fight from earlier. The cupcakes are bomb of course. And well, let's just say I'm in a special mood," he grins.

"Ooh and why is that?" I ask.

Yugyeom merely stares ahead of us, and I see what he means. There BamBam is, on the other side of the room, looking nice in his white suit.

"He kind of protected me earlier. Jackson was about to punch me and Bam pulled him away at the last second and told him to stop and leave me alone. That's kinda the most intimate he's been in years," sighs Yugyeom.

"Aww, good for you. I'm sure you two will have more interactions tonight," I reply.

"Hopefully.. How about you and the love of your life? Trouble in paradise? You two should be asking the DJ for a special song and being cute together right now, but obviously that's not on the agenda," he remarks.

"Erm, not exactly. I'm sure we'll spend lots of time together later on. I haven't seen him since I rushed inside after the dreaded fi—"

"You fucking disgusting creature!"

I flinch mid-sentence and chills run down my spine as I process Jackson's merciless words. What has he gotten himself into this time?!

I look in the direction of his voice at whatever poor LG soul is facing his wrath, when I see Yoongi, sprawled on the floor, his hair and attire a mess and an obvious bruise forming under his right eye.

I give Yugyeom wide eyes, and he nods, allowing me to run towards the two. I'm blocked as quickly as I get there by a large crowd forming once more. Except all the Straights are on one side, and all the LGs are on the other. They eye each other with bloodthirst. And then something snaps in me.

This isn't fucking prom anymore. No one can even try to enjoy themselves anymore. There is pure disgust and hatred before me, making me wonder how the hell humans are capable of becoming such savages.

I'm disappointed to see that this time, Jackson isn't backing down. In fact, this is the most pissed off I've ever seen him. I know Yoongi will continue standing his ground as well. No one is there to stop them. No one can see past the feud. No one cares enough to do everything.

Except for me.

And so I find myself miraculously wrestling a mic out of a stand meant for when the prom king and queen are announced and taking a deep breath, ready to let everyone know how much this dumb fighting has been tearing me apart.

With a quick gasp, I scream at the top of my lungs.

"EVERYONE STOP!"

All eyes are on me. Everything is up to me.

Third Person POV

Everyone stood still, just watching the small blonde on the stage, trembling as he held the mic tightly.

Jackson stands up from his position on Yoongi in shock as Yoongi brushes himself off, watching Jimin intently. The whole room is silent enough to hear a pin drop. The only movements are from the Straights and the LGs, breaking out of their circle and into opposite sides of the room. No one moves a muscle. Not even Jin, who is aching to take his phone out and record his little Jimin as if he were standing on the stage for a play.

Finally, the blonde speaks. His voice is quivering. The whole school is listening. What did he have to say?

"H-Hi," he starts shakily.

A couple of light "hello"'s could be heard across the room but no one moves an inch.

"I know it's w-weird to see me up here.. alone.. on prom night. I-I'm literally shaking," he giggles cutely to himself, "But that's not why I told everyone to s-stop."

Here goes, Jimin thinks to himself. I have everyone's attention. This is what I wanted, right?

He swallows saliva he didn't know he was keeping at the back of his mouth and stills his voice. He needs to sound confident to be taken seriously. And this is the most serious everyone's ever been.

"All my life, I've been trying to pass as someone I'm not. I've been trying to please both the Capulets and Montagues of high school. When, really, all I had to do to pass by was to tell the truth, which is that, well, as we all know, I'm bi. But what if that's just another lie? Maybe I'm caught in a lie because I've been lying to myself."

Everyone watches him in confusion. A couple mutters of "What is he talking about?" and "Where is he going with this?" don't stop him from continuing.

"I'm aware that this is a really weird-ass speech to get you to stop fighting, but can I just say, Rosé didn't deserve to be with someone like me. Someone who is not a Straight. Someone who is not even bi..."

Countless unrestrained whispers arise within the crowd.

"No way..." whispers Jackson. He knew this would happen. But the thought was different from it actually happening. And this was happening.

"Oh my God, I was right," Hoseok gasps.

"My bitch is gonna do it, hell yas!" Yugyeom whisper-yells, nudging Jinyoung, who is too focused to feel anything about it.

"I can't see shit," Jungkook grunts to Taehyung, who makes a vulgar joke about lifting him up.

"Ahaha, we been knew," Namjoon says to Jin, who squeals quietly.

Jimin catches Rosé's supporting smile before he continues.

"I'm gay."

It's no longer silent.

Half the crowd cheers in delight as the other half gasps and begins rioting. Jackson is dead silent. He stays to listen but the people around him, pushing him, telling him he lost the bet, weren't enough to replace the pain of hearing his best friend come out.

Not to him, in a secluded space as they giggle like schoolgirls. Not in a note that he passes in class, along with the words "I like you, too." Not at the movies, where they share a short, tender kiss right after.

He came out to Jackson in front of everyone, not because of his attraction to him, but because of his attraction to another man. Which is what he feared and tried to stray Jimin from the most.

Once people have settled down (none of the Straights taking violent action because their leader was about as energetic as a brick wall), Jimin takes it as a sign that he can continue.

The outcome was much less worse than he expected. He came out to the school and they weren't tearing his limbs apart. Jimin was relieved.

"It's true. I'm in love with a man... He made me realize that only he has made me feel things that no girl ever could. No matter how special she was," he smiles, remembering all the times Yoongi made him laugh. The couple makes eye contact and Yoongi smiles proudly, making Jimin's heart do flips.

Jackson wonders if his heart will stop at any second.

"I'm sorry if I disappoint all the Straights. There's someone in particular I want to apologize to... He knows who he is. Look, I'm sorry if I'm not what you want me to be. But even if I'm not a Straight like you, I'm still your best friend. I'm still Park Jimin from middle school. Park Jimin who won't kill a cockroach even if you paid me. Park Jimin who smacked your older brother's ass as a prank. Park Jimin who threw dog shit at the neighbor's window. Park Jimin who...kissed and dated a girl for you. Jac— My friend, I've only ever done these things because I want you to be happy. I want you to be happy because you make me happy. You've always been there for me, and I hope that, even if I'm gay, you'll still be my best friend. Cause I love you. If it makes you feel any better, I love you no homo. I love you full bromo."

Everyone in the room knows who Jimin was fucking talking about. And he was no longer in the spot where he was. Everyone, even his own posse, felt terrible for Jimin. That his so-called friend had left after a speech was dedicated to him. That he still couldn't forgive him. Because Jackson Wang was a coward.

Jimin noticed this as well, but he merely kept his disappointment inside and continued on.

"Can we please just look at this whole situation from a rational perspective? Shouldn't we all just get along? This feud is just so..so..so stupid!"

Pent rage from Jackson fleeing gave Jimin a bit of courage and confidence.

"We're all people! We're all human beings! It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. You're you. I'm me! So why should we let how other people think control our lives?!"

Jimin's wise words break something in the stubborn minds of the feuders. Everyone feels more sensible in the slightest. Something softens in their hard hearts.

"Go off, sis!" yells Yugyeom from the crowd, making everyone chuckle a bit.

"I should've known this from the very beginning: if you were all willing to be friends with me, despite knowing that I wasn't exactly sure what sexuality I was, shouldn't you all be able to get along, too?"

This hits everyone harder. The logic behind it was so obvious the whole time. If they tolerated Jimin's shift in group choice for so long, why couldn't they tolerate each other?

"Well, this was all improvised, and I kinda feel like sucking Yoon— a special guy's dick right now, so let's all and enjoy prom now! Together!" Jimin drops the mic dramatically, and all at once everyone begins to cheer loudly. Jimin stands on the stage, watching magic happen below him:

Among the now intermixed crowd full of LGs and Straights. No, scratch that— among the now intermixed crowd full of friends, a nervous Namjoon taps Seokjin's broad shoulder.

He feels so small even though he's taller. He's been waiting for this very moment. He thinks it's the right time, and if it isn't, fuck it.

"Um, hyung, may I kiss y—?" Namjoon soon feels his lips being taken by the elder's plump ones, and they fit like two pieces of a puzzle. Jin places his arms around the younger, who puts his hands at Jin's waist. They feel closer than ever as they kiss, learning more about each other through simple lip contact. Not long after they start, they break the short, yet very delightful moment.

"Is that enough consent?" Seokjin laughs at the blushing boy. He's relieved to spot JB, who is dancing with Jennie, give him a small wink of approval and BamBam giving him a thumbs up as he makes his way over to someone.

"Yes. I don't think I'm gonna bother asking for the next one," he giggles, connecting their lips once more.

Now where is BamBam headed? Jimin wonders, still observing from his spot on the stage.

Oh my fucking God, no way.

"Y-Yugyeom..." BamBam says, catching the boy's attention. He was smiling upon seeing Jinyoung and Jisoo realize their feelings and sharing their own kiss.

All the nerves of seeing BamBam from afar leave him, and he treats him as the best friend he had always been.

"What's up, Kunpi?" he smiles.

My old nickname.. Only he was the one who called me that, BamBam thought, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

"You remember that," was all he could get out.

"Of course I did. I remember everything about you," Yugyeom replies shyly.

"Look, after what Jimin said, I realize I was a terrible friend to you. But I only pushed you away because I liked you too. I saw how they threw you out, and I couldn't bring myself to go after you.. You probably think I'm a selfish jerk, and I am, but I just wanted to tell you now that I was never scared of you. I still like you. And no amount of ignoring you this year was able to change that. I know none of this makes up for what I—"

"SHHHT," Yugyeom says, putting a finger to his lips. "All is forgiven. You had me at 'I still like you.'"

With this, the two share a tight hug and joke and talk about, making up for lost time.

Lisa was watching the two, feeling happy that her childhood best friend had finally found someone besides her to bother. She turned to her new girlfriend and the two lit up the dance floor, but not long before sharing a nice kiss.

"Don't tell Jimin, but you're a much better kisser," Rosé jokes to the younger, before continuing to dance the night away.

Another couple on the dance floor are Hoseok and Youngjae, but no homo, of course. They dance but Hoseok notices his friend is focusing on another girl.

He pushes him towards her. "Go talk to her, scaredy pants," he smiles.

"Are you sure she won't just think of me as a twink?" he asks nervously.

"Hey man, if I don't think you look gay tonight, you're not gay tonight."

"If you say so.. Hey, Seulgi!" Youngjae calls in the most confident, manly voice he could muster.

Hoseok doesn't mind being alone for now. Some Straights watch in awe as he moves his body. His original plan to leave everyone knowing who the most dominant effing dancer in the history of prom was coming in place.

As Hoseok's prom dream was coming true, Jungkook was thinking maybe his was as well. The whole night, he had been side by side with Taehyung, and it wasn't even halfway over. When a fight broke out, Taehyung had always made sure Jungkook was holding his hand, or was no more than 2 feet away. He couldn't bear it if anything happened to his baby— not that Jungkook knew that just yet.

"Jimin's speech was pretty inspiring, don't you think?" Jungkook asks, trying to give his clueless crush a sign.

"It really was.. I have way more respect for the LGs. Not that I really hated them in the first place, to be honest," the brunette replies.

"Makes me wonder how many other couples are hiding, ya know, cause after, a bunch of people from both groups started kissing and stuff..."

Jungkook couldn't be more obvious. And Taehyung couldn't be more naughty.

He knew what the younger was getting at; he just wanted the satisfaction of seeing him squirm a little. But he continued to play dumb, wanting the latter to say what he wanted to his face.

Jungkook was growing impatient. We could be kissing right now! he thinks shamelessly.

Taehyung sees the younger's pouty expression and laughs to himself. He's so cute. Tae decides to give him an opportunity and helps him. Truth be told, he is getting impatient as well, wanting nothing more than to feel the boy's lips against his.

"You know what we were talking about earlier? How we'd take each other to space? What would you want to do together? Space would be lonely and boring," he quips.

Jungkook takes a moment to think. "I'd want to play Overwatch."

Taehyung hums in approval before asking what else.

"Eat lots of lamb skewers and drink banana milk. Period."

"Are you sure that's it? Nothing... really really fun?" Taehyung asks, wiggling his eyebrows. At this point, he puts his arm around Jungkook's slender waist. Jungkook blushes furiously.

"Playing Overwatch and eating with me isn't really really fun?"

"It is, but I know there's more that you'd want to do," Taehyung whispers in his ear.

The poor panicked gay pushes his face back a little and frowns. "Fine I'll tell you, but it's a secret!"

Taehyung merely giggles and promises not to tell anyone. Jungkook leans in close, his nose brushing against the skin on Taehyung's neck, making the older shiver.

"I'd want to repopulate the Earth with you," he whispers quickly before pulling away quickly and turning redder. Taehyung's arm still being around his waist didn't help the matter.

"Woah, take me out for fries first at least. Or a kiss. I'll take either," laughs Taehyung, only half-joking. Jungkook's answer made him undeniably giddy. And horny.

"Mmm I'm broke as fuck, so a kiss will have to do for now," the younger announces, finally gaining his long-awaited courage.

He wastes no time in pulling the brunette's face closer by the cheeks and closing the remaining space between their mouths. The kiss doesn't feel new. The two are almost like experts in contorting their lips, and both of them are satisfied.

When they break apart, Jungkook still having Taehyung's cheeks between his fingers, they laugh together.

"Took you long enough. You had me waiting for a whole goddamn year," Taehyung jokes.

"If you were so impatient, why didn't you make the move first, dumbass?" Jungkook hisses.

"Alright then I will. You're coming with me," grunts the older, picking up Jungkook and throwing him over his shoulder.

"TAE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Jungkook screams, ravishing around.

"Making the first move. Let's go repopulate the Earth," Taehyung replies, heading towards the door. As they pass the stage on their way to the exit, Taehyung yells a "THANK YOU!" at Jimin, who laughs at their shenanigans. By then Jungkook had accepted his fate. And prayed for his asshole.

Jimin sighs in content at what his speech had done. The effect being completely positive on everyone. There are no signs of fighting for segregation, just pure unity and peace over all the students. All but Jackson.. The one that Jimin wanted to be the most accepting.

One last glance at the crowd, and Jimin decides to join everyone in the fun. He dashes down the stage stairs, only to bump into someone's broad chest.

The person hugs him tight. The shaking of their arms and back make Jimin aware that he's crying. Jimin looks up. Who?

It's Jackson.

"OH MY GOD, JACKSON! Are you okay?? Where've you been? You're trembling!" Jimin asks worriedly.

Jackson only continues to hug Jimin tightly, the only sounds from his mouth being faint whimpers. Never had Jimin seen him so vulnerable. And never had Jimin felt Jackson hug him so meaningfully. His anger and disappointment very well forgotten because of Jimin's kind heart, he opens his arm and hugs his best friend back. They stand there for a while, luckily no one noticing, before Jackson's shoulders slowly stop rising and falling.

Jackson sniffs loudly before letting go of his friend.

"Jimin," he starts. He looks down at his feet like a shy boy, introducing himself to the class.

"Look, Jimin, I'm sorry. For everything. The truth is, I've always loved you. In the homo way."

Jimin stands, shocked, confused, flustered, but he knows better than to interrupt Jackson. Every person has their reasons.

"That's why I've been trying to keep you from other boys so that it wouldn't hurt me as much. That's why I want you with girls. That's why I had a bet with Hoseok that you would be a Straight. And before you get mad— there was no prize. Unless you count thinking that I'd have you all to myself as a prize. Obviously Hoseok won, but that doesn't matter anymore. None of it does. My selfishness ended up hurting you so much. I could never forgive myself for doing this to someone I love. But after I left during your speech, I realized that your happiness is all I ever wanted. I liked you because you brightened my life. Made school a little more interesting. I loved how your eyes would crinkle in delight, how you'd tug at my arm when you were excited; you're just an amazing person. But I know you have someone you love now. And I accept it. Please at least just say that you'll keep being my friend. Because I love you. More than you'll ever know. And you don't have to love me for it to stay that way."

Jackson was terrified at what Jimin would say and what he would think. He had already prepared himself for the feeling of grief. He was ready to be slapped by Jimin, when the blonde raised his hand. He shut his eyes tight, turning his head in the other direction.

But instead, he felt Jimin's small hands on his. He opens his eyes to see Jimin crying as well.

'Well, if you hadn't run out so early on, you would've heard in my speech that I wanted to be your best friend no matter what, wouldn't ya?" he laughs heartily.

"Oh my God, Jimin! Thank you! I love you so much," Jackson sighs, engulfing the younger in another hug, which he gladly takes.

"I love you, too, Jacks. And I forgive you."

Once the two are on good terms, with eyes dry and hearts uplifted, they break their hug.

Jackson spots Yoongi, who is watching them from the bottom of the stairs with fires burning in his eyes but a large smile on his face. Jackson can't tell if he's happy for them or jealous as fuck.

"Hey, what're you doing standing here? Go have some fun with your man. He's waiting for you," Jackson smiles, pointing at Yoongi.

The minute Jimin spots him, smiling his brightest smile that he could offer, Yoongi's fire eyes turn into sparkling ones. What the actual fuck? Jackson smiles to himself.

"So is yours," Jimin winks, pointing to the guy standing next to Yoongi.

For the first time, Jackson actually takes in the way Mark Tuan looks tonight, and he feels something in his chest he had only felt for Jimin. What was going on?

The two best friends jog down the stairs, hand in hand, and Jackson gives Jimin's hand to Yoongi. He turns quickly before Yoongi suddenly speaks.

"Put her there, Wang."

Jackson turns and gives Yoongi a handshake, the tension between them disappearing, and leaving Jackson no longer feeling threatened. Giving him a chance to threaten Yoongi instead.

"Min Yoongi, you have the heart of my best friend. Break it and I will destroy your ass. Literally. And not with my dick. If he fell for you over a fine specimen like myself, I take it you treat him better than I would or could have. I care about him, so don't hurt him like I did," Jackson warns softly.

"Trust me, I'm in no need for a destroyed ass. I'm the top here," Yoongi laughs in return.

"Shut up, both of you! If anything, I'll be breaking both your asses if I see any fighting! Now run along, go play with that sexy foreign boy of yours," Jimin chuckles, literally pushing Jackson into Mark, who falls to the floor.

Before Jackson can yell at Jimin for making him knock the skinny boy down, the couple is long gone.

"I'm really sorry, Jimin's...Jimin," Jackson grins sheepishly, holding his hand out to Mark.

Mark contemplates making a smartass comment about Jackson trying to hold his hand, but he doesn't want to ruin whatever chance he still has and scare the guy away. He takes it, pulling himself up, but ending up making Jackson fall instead, on top of him.

The two scramble to their feet.

"Sorry! I'm heavier than I look," Mark laughs.

"I'll take your word for it, ass of steel."

"What was that?" grins Mark coyly.

"Oh God. I didn't mean to say that out loud," Jackson cries, facepalming.

"Sureee. Mind telling me what was up with that whole 'I'm gonna cry to Jimin and hug him and then come back acting like nothing happened' bit?"

"Let's just say my heart is broken, but it's slowly mending."

"Why let it mend when you can buy a whole fucking spindle?"

Jackson laughs. "Where am I going to find a heart spindle?"

"I'll be your heart spindle," Mark says proudly.

"You really have no shame, do you?" Jackson asks. He admits he's interested in Mark. He's always making him laugh. Not to mention the ass of steel.

"Maybe I don't. Got any dances saved for someone?"

"Why do you ask?"

Mark simply points at how the whole atmosphere has changed completely. Everyone has a partner as they slow dance to the ballad playing. JB and Jennie, Youngjae and Seulgi, BamBam and Yugyom, Rosé and Lisa; couples of all different kinds.

"Come to think of it, I did tell my guys I'd be dancing with a lot of girls, but I can make an exception for a free heart spindle," Jackson smiles.

"Who said I was free, bitch?"

"Who said I was talking about you?"

"Touché."

Despite the small quarrell, Jackson still finds himself snaking his arms around the boy's petite waist as Mark finds his arms encased around Jackson's neck. They sway slowly to the beat of the song with an understanding. Jackson's being that he's now open and ready to try this whole "being gay" thing, and how it's not nearly as hard as pretending not to be, and Mark's being that he didn't need to worry about not getting Jackson's attention all along.

After all, even though the party was long ago, Jackson did mark the boy's words.

(a/n: in case you don't wanna scroll through everything all over again, the reference above is from ch. 19, you're welcome :>)

Jimin's POV

"What you did really was amazing, you know?" Yoongi says.

My head is on his shoulder as the ballad rolls on. His strong hands are at a firm grip around my waist, though I can feel them going lower and lower towards my ass, and my hands are clasped in a hug over his shoulders. Yoongi's strong scent is as irresistible as always, and he and I have our bodies so close together that I can feel his heartbeat against mine.

Everyone else is just as peaceful as us. Even Jackson and Mark have each other in a warm embrace for this dance.

"What do you mean?" I ask him softly.

"It's not everyday that someone ends a whole feud, brings people together, and makes everyone feel peaceful with one speech. You're amazing, Park Jimin."

"Martin Luther King Jr. did that. We even have a holiday for that reason," I reply jokingly.

He shakes his head. "But we're talking about someone who is an expert in the stuff he talked about. Your speech was purely improvised just now. And this feud has been going on for years. You ended with a couple of heartfelt words. That's really not nothing," he insists.

"You know I can stand here and just listen to you tell me how great I am all day, Yoonie."

"I would. Maybe we should make a Jimin holiday to commemorate you," he snarks quietly.

"Mhm, and what are you going to do on Jimin Day?" I ask him, tightening my grip around his shoulders and bringing him closer. I feel his hands travel lower down my waist.

"This," he lowers his head just enough to meet my lips, and we let our kiss do all the talking.

His hands are now practically roaming free around my ass, and I have to get him to stop sucking on my bottom lip to scold him for being so public.

"Let them see. Everyone knows your secret now," he whispers into my ear.

"You're grabbing my ass! Not now, this is a slow moment. Enjoy prom without getting sexual, you weirdo," I say, squeezing his cheek.

"Only for you," he smiles, placing his hands back around my waist.

"I can't believe we're graduating so soon. So much has happened this year," Yoongi says.

"Like what? Revive my foggy memory."

"Well for starters, I met the love of my life. In math class of all places."

"Go on."

"Well, I stole a couple of Snapahats, a kiss, and then his virginity, and then a date, and then more virginity, and then even more dates, and now I'm at prom with him."

I can't help but blush a little.

"Bottom line, I took many things from Park Jimin this year."

"I'm not the only thing that happened this year! What about your raps and your friends?" I ask, a little concerned. Did I take that much out of his life?

"You were my year. And it was the best year ever," he gummy grins before giving me a peck on the nose. "How about you?"

"Well all I wanted to do was get by. And a lot more than that happened," I start.

"I got my first girlfriend, discovered I was gay, I got my first boyfriend, I lost Hoseok and Jackson at some points, I got hurt from a fight... and then I just magically fixed the school's problem with my prom speech that wasn't even planned!"

"All of these events are very true, it was quite the story. But now my Juliet can be with me, right?" Yoongi husks into my ear.

"Right. Forever and always," I promise.

"One last question, though. Do you regret anything that happened this year?"

I look around the room at all of my friends, laughing with each other, becoming friends with each other, dancing with each other. All the armor guarding their sensitive hearts had been lowered, and the vulnerability within the room is mutually safe. By now the slow dance was over, Yoongi and I being the only ones still in our embraced position on the dance floor. I look around more and bad memories from this year flood through my mind, but are soon replaced by good moments I was witnessing at this very moment. All of those things that I want to forget are what lead to the harmony as a school that we are able to have tonight.

I shake my head as I look into my boyfriend's starry eyes, and he gives my forehead a kiss.

"Not at all."
