【 summary 】

    ▬▬DREAMS, they say, are the secret window into the lives one's self spends in a world very much the same, and yet ... different. Left may be right, right may be left, up is down and down is sideways. But the story of Nina Hart and Peter Parker through the windows, and the mirrors, and the endless dreams always seems to be exactly just that: their story. In every universe, no matter its changes from the world parallel to it, Nina Hart stayed the same. She was born the same way, smiled the same way, with the same name and the same ambitions▬and maybe ... maybe always the same, tragic ending. (Or maybe not?). And as always, Nina Hart found herself drawn towards Peter Parker▬across the multiverse; across space and time.

Nina Hart met Peter Parker, a modest genius and brilliant photographer, as a freshman in college  grabbing some volunteer work at the F.E.A.S.T. centre in Chinatown. She had been looking for some hot chocolate during her lunch break, and when she was at a loss, approached the lonesome stranger unpacking boxes with a sheepish murmur and an awkward gesture up towards the cupboards. He had breathed a kind chuckle and showed her exactly where to find it▬and the two of them ended up spending that break together, getting to know each other over hot chocolate and cake from the coffee cart. When Nina Hart learnt that Peter Parker was well into a degree in biophysics at ESU, she pleaded for him to help her with her physics elective. She needed good grades, and he needed some extra cash. And from then on, they got along like crazy.

But that wasn't the first time Peter Parker met Nina Hart, a sweet, kind and brilliant-minded biochemist. When they were in college, he would always appear at her bedroom window in her parents' apartment▬maybe supporting a few bruises, a gash on his arm (and a lot of rib fractures) under the mask of Spider-Man, just to see the smile on her face to know he was all right. He never thought he'd be able to talk to her without the mask, knocking at her window after another night patrolling and seeing her up late studying for exams. But when he saw her, walking up to him at F.E.A.S.T. to ask where she could find hot chocolate, Peter Parker finally got to know the girl he was so enamoured by not as Spider-Man, but as himself.

After that, he still made regular trips to her window. She still patched him up and complained about college. But they also worked alongside each other at the shelter in the kitchen, the coffee cart, enjoying time with his Aunt May and going out with Mary Jane and Harry as a group. Nina Hart was an enigma that Peter Parker could not get enough of▬a friend he treasured deep within his heart.

Finding out that he was Spider-Man, the hero that always (sometimes▬okay, a lot) turned up, barely conscious at her window, had been completely by mistake. Nina Hart had always been the smartest in the room. As midterms came along, and Peter was supporting a broken rib and a nasty burn on his back, Nina finished dressing it, a nervous look upon her face to which she asked what was wrong. She had said:

"I know it's you, Pete."

In fact, she had known for a long time.

For how could Nina not recognise the same voice, characteristics and nature of the young man she held strong feelings for (and never felt the same way?). She came to know Peter Parker like the back of her hand, and in knowing Spider-Man before, it didn't take much effort for her to connect the dots.

But as life progressed, friends drift apart. Peter graduated, he continued his work with Doctor Octavius and his other job as Spider-Man. Nina went on with her life. He still came to her window, but as the conversations drifted from friendly to awkward, tense tides, and he didn't know why, Peter started to stop that, too. Nina graduated and found a job at OSCORP, helping Harry Osborn out with his green energy projects, scowling over microscopes and doing exactly what she wanted to do. She no longer had time to volunteer at F.E.A.S.T., she moved into an apartment in Manhattan and when Harry left for Europe, Peter lost contact with her completely.

Six months doesn't seem long, but lives change▬and soon enough, Peter Parker and Nina Hart were on two completely different paths of life. But when Nina starts to hear concerning whispers around OSCORP Industries about a horrific biological weapon by the name of Devil's Breath, she tries to investigate. An era ends and Wilson Fisk is taken into custody after eight years of an empire of organised crimes▬Nina accidentally gets herself caught up in a dangerous gang war, and she isn't the only one.

Old friends reunite and old, unwelcome feelings start to surface. And as most college reunions go, Nina Hart certainly didn't expect one to be like this.

I do not own spider-man, the character or any characters associated with the comics or insomniac's marvel's spider-man. i do own nina though and she is my baby and if u steal her I will track u down >:[

this book is apart of a wider 'spider-verse' aka the nina verse lol. u don't have to read the companion book to this one, but it would be a nice thing to do. it's one of my fav things and you get a real nice intro to nina's character across the mcu, tasm and raimi's trilogy.

but like I said, u don't have to read that book to understand this one. this is like just another universe and nina's character will still be explained/introduced etc. but the tone of it will be very different. aka the plot surrounding her dreams and seeing her multiverse selves will not be apart of this, just sorta alluded to for readers who have come from my deja vu book. and if u haven't read it, or are currently reading it, just beware of the possibility of spoilers to that book in these comments.

anyway, this is based off the ps4/ps5 game because it is amazing and such a great adaptation of spider-man and I love to bits and I cannot wait until marvel's spider-man 2 comes out like in september apparently so!!! also super controversial apparently but I love and prefer the remastered face of peter parker we're using ben don't argue with me.

back in my spider-man hyper-fixations, aka we're back home. this book is gonna be so difficult to write cos its based off a game but its also gonna be so fun. there needs to be more good insomniac spider-man fics i am starving▬the good ones aren't complete and it's hurting my soul like now you see me is the most beautiful, fantastic amazing piece of writing like don't even get me started▬
