CHAPTER SEVEN----
"Oh wow," Alexei spoke after placing on the extra headset, at this point Rosie and Nat had moved out of their previous position, the brunette now crouched between her and Yelena's seats, clicking away at some buttons. Yelena didn't even look back sending a punch at Alexei's face, and Rosie did not blame her own bit, the brunette had barely spent five minutes with the man but already found him extremely annoying.
"Why the aggression huh? Is it your time of the month?" Alexei questioned, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I don't get my period dipshit. I don't have a uterus." Yelena quipped, "Or ovaries," Natasha added, and Rosie spared a glance at the redhead, Natasha had always wanted kids.
"Yeah, that's what happens when The Red room gives you an involuntary hysterectomy. They kind of just go in and rip out all of your reproductive organs." She motioned with her hands, "They just get right in there and chop them all away. Everything out so you can't have babies."
Alexei had a clear look of disgust on his face, "Ok, ok. Ok, You don't have to get all clinical and nasty." he spoke sitting down. "Oh, I was about to talk about fallopian tubes," Yelena spoke, "Yeah, I would've punched him too," Rosalie muttered, seemingly forgetting she had the headset on and all three other passengers could hear her, Yelena arched her eyebrows with a smile, she liked this one.
Alexei grimaced, "What did I do? And who are you anyway?" he questioned, "Rosalie Barton." she spoke dryly, there was a brief pause, "It means so much to me that you girls came back for me." Alexei spoke and Natasha was shaking her head, clearly upset. "No. no. You're going to tell us how to get to the Red Room." she cut him off.
"Woah, look at you all business." he scoffed, "Trust me this isn't pleasure." Natasha replied dryly, "Little Natasha all indoctrinated into the Western agenda." he spoke in a condescending tone, and Rosalie rolled her eyes exasperated.
"I chose to go West to become an Avenger." Natasha quipped, "Cause they treated me like family." the redhead finished, and Rosalie frowned, "Really? Family? Well, where are they now? Where is that family now?" Alexei spoke and Natasha's eyes watered, and Yelena glanced towards her sister, knowing that probably hurt. Rosalie discreetly offered her hand up, and Natasha squeezed it slightly.
"Tell me where the Red Room is." Natasha ordered, Rosalie's eyes lingered on Natasha for a moment, "I have no idea." he said, and Yelena scoffed, Natasha angrily pulled the headset off handing it to Rosalie who accepted it and sat down in Natasha's chair, taking over.
"Come on! You and Dreykov were like-" Natasha began, "Dreykov?" Alexei spoke louder, "General Dreykov, my friend, huh?" he asked exasperated, "Gives me glory...Soviet Union's first and only super-soldier. I could have been more famous than Captain America." Natasha rolled her eyes.
"Then he buries me in Ohio on that stupid mission." Yelena starts to turn to look at him, "Three years! So tedious boring me to tears." Alexei's voice fades out meeting Yelena's gaze, "No offense, huh?" Yelena turns away shaking her head slightly, and Rosalie offered her a small sympathetic smile.
"Then he puts me in prison for the rest of my life. And I'm not even the one who uh...killed his daughter" Alexei said, "Can we throw him out the window now?" Yelena asked, "I think we should wait until we get to a high altitude." Natasha replied, Rosalie, was growing tired of this man's whining and complaining, and stood up making her way to Natasha's side, "Just shut the fuck up." Rosalie said, and Natasha's eyes widened, knowing that Rosalie meant business by the tone of her voice, "No one cares, about your whining or your complaining, If you don't know where the Red Room is, surely you know someone who will know. So cut to the god damn chase, Alexei."
"Why not ask Melina, where it is?" he spoke loudly in Russian, "Wait, Mom Melina?" Yelena asked, "We thought she was dead." Natasha added, "Yeah, we thought she was dead." Rosalie added feeling out of place, and Natasha gave her a glance, "What? I've heard the stories." she shrugged.
Alexei scoffed, "You can not kill a fox that swift." Natasha looked at him in disgust, "Ew." and Rosalie chuckled slightly, "What? She was the scientist, the strategist. I was the muscle. She worked directly for Dreykov, far more than I ever did."
"Wait, you're telling me, that Melina works for the Red Room present day?" Natasha asked, "She works remotely outside of St. Petersburg." Alexei explained, and Yelena scoffed, "Uh, I don't think we have enough fuel for St. Petersburg." Alexei brushed the comment off, "No, we're good, we'll make it." Yelena shook her head, "Okay."
---
The helicopter crashed in a controlled manner, definitely could not make it to St. Petersburg. Natasha sighed, stepping out of the helicopter, Rosalie following closely behind her. "You should've brought the Avenger's Superjet." Alexei quipped, and Natasha Stood back up walking away, Yelena making her way beside her and Rosalie, "I swear if I hear one more word from him I will kick him in the face." Yelena spoke, "He's the worst." Natasha said under her breath, and Rosalie shook her head, "I have to agree with shortie over here, I will kick him."
"I'm taller than Natasha." Yelena deffended, "Yeah. You're both short." Rosalie smiled teasingly, "Natasha." Alexei said, and three girls all grew even more annoyed, ignoring him, "Natasha. Natasha. Come here I want to ask you something." Yelena and Natasha shared a look, and Natasha walked back to him, Yelena and Rosalie continuing forward.
"Why did we break him out of prison again?" Rosalie asked, "Surely between the three of us we could've found something on the Red Room." Yelena turned to Rosalie, "Agreed." they both looked in the direction of Natasha when her voice grew loud, "You haven't seen either one of us in twenty years and you're gonna ask me about you?"
"What is with this tension?" Alexei asked exasperated, "Did I do something wrong?" Yelena looked towards Rosalie, "Rosie is he being serious?" she asked, "Is that a serious question?" she added now turning towards Alexei. "I only ever loved you girls. I did my best to make sure you would succeed to achieve your fullest potential, and everything worked out."
"Everything worked out?" Natasha asked, "Yes. For you, yes." Rosalie looked between the family once again feeling quite out of place. That was a pattern in her life, she never quite felt like she belonged anywhere. That was until Natasha, the woman who made her feel safe, the woman who was her home.
I can go anywhere I want, anywhere I want just not home.
"Yelena you went on to become the greatest child assassin the world has ever known. No can match your efficiency, your ruthlessness." then he turned towards Natasha, "And Natasha, not just a spy, not just toppling regimes, destroying empires from within, but an Avenger."
Alexei grabbed the blonde and redhead's hands, "You both have killed so many people. Your ledgers must be dripping, gushing red. I couldn't be more proud of you." he hugged both of them to his sides, Natasha shoved him away first, "I'm getting us a ride." Alexei kissed the top of Yelena's head, "Ok, you can let me go now, you smell really bad."
Natasha and Rosalie hung back slightly, "You're alive." Mason spoke through the phone, "Uh. yeah. yeah, I am. I need a friend. I know, I'm above my tab," she leaned down to touch the flowery plant, "And you might not want to extend me a line of credit." She continued, "You should come in from the snow. It's cold out there. It's cozy inside." Mason spoke, and Natasha's heart sunk, "You're the best."
"So what do you need?" he asked, "A lift. Four passengers." she answered standing up, "Any Unique circumstances?" Natasha shared a look with Rosalie, "A van should do." and Rosalie sighed, running a hand through her shoulder-length hair. "Coordinates?"
"53. 90. 67 North. 27, 66, 71 East. Tomorrow. 6 am." she spoke, "I'll be there." he ended the call and Natasha pulled the phone away from her ear snapping it. "My contact's burned." Natasha announced, "Great." Rosalie sighed, "What? Does that mean we're walking?" Alexei asked.
They walked for a while when Yelena spoke up again, "So? Are we there yet?" Yelena asked a small smile pulled at the edges of Natasha's lips, at the end of the day, Yelena was still Yelena. "You'll know when we're there," Alexei spoke and then proceeded to make pig sounds.
----
The only thing separating them from the woman that Rosalie presumed was Melina, was a single fence. In an effort to comfort Natasha, she gently bumped her shoulder against Nat's letting her know she was there for her. "Honey, we're home." Alexei announced, Melina walked by them without saying a word, "Come on girls."
They followed Melina into the house, "Welcome to my humble abode. Make yourself at home." Rosalie glanced around the house, she had her guard up, there were only two people in this place that she trusted at the moment, Natasha and Yelena. "Let's have a drink," Melina added, walking over to the pantry, and pressing the shelves forwards revealing a room with weapons and security. "Hey, no funny business." Natasha noted, "I am putting away my weapon."
Natasha held the woman's glance for a minute before walking away, "You ok?" Rosalie whispered, and Natasha nodded slightly, "Are there any boobytraps around here? Anything we need to know about?" Natasha asked, looking out the window, "I didn't raise my girls to fall into traps." Melina spoke with a small smile, "You didn't raise us at all." Natasha filled up a glass with water, "Oh, maybe so. But if you got soft it wasn't on my watch."
"Who's she?" Melina asked referring to Rosalie, who had walked to sit at the table with Yelena, "Rosalie Barton, a close friend of mine."Natasha answered a small smile tugging at her lips as she glanced at Rosie.
