6. date night

The whole week leading up to Friday felt like it was slowed down. Each passing day Sophia couldn't help but feel the constant fluttering of butterflies in her stomach. She tried her best to get lost in work and school to keep her mind at ease.

When it was finally Friday, she couldn't help but grow more excited. Sophia adjusted the brown cardigan shrug she wore with her floral dress. The short brunette stood a few inches taller as she slid into a pair of heels Mia had forced her into.

Her makeup was done flawlessly, even though she hardly wore it, she was good at it. Her attention darted to the door as it opened, Mia peeking her head in and smiled brightly at her younger sister.

"Oh my gosh, you look amazing!" Mia complemented her as she hugged her sister tightly. "Brian's gonna be drooling all over you."

"Mia!" Sophia exclaimed; eyes wide.

"I'm just saying." Mia shrugged, raising her arms in defense. "Just in case." She pulled something out of her pocket and threw it to her sister.

Sophia caught it and looked down only to find it was a condom. "What the hell Mia!"

"What? I want to make sure you're safe if you're gonna do anything. Thats what the older sister does."

"So, do you have this because you and what's his name, Logan have late night "studying"." Mia slapped her younger sister in the arm causing Sophia to laugh more than she already was.

Before Mia could even reply to her sister, their door to their bedroom opened. Sophia quickly shoved the condom into her bag as it revealed their brother standing there. Mia hugged her sister one last time before leaving the room.

"Hey, Dom." Sophia spoke softly.

"You look gorgeous, Soph." Dom smiled gently. "You look so much like mom."

Sophia gave him a weak smile in return, moving a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"Thank you." she said softly. Talking about their parents was never an easy subject for them to talk about.

"I just wanted to come see you off before your date." Dom revealed

Sophia walked up to him. Dom wrapped his arms around his little sister as she tightened her arms around him.

A fond smile was on both of their faces as Dom spoke. "If he breaks your heart, I'll break his face."

"I know you will." Sophia smirked as a laugh left her lips.

Mia ran into the room, a grin on her lips. "He's here! It's time to go. Get your ass down there!"

Sophia smiled at her older sister, before wishing them both a goodbye as she walked down the stairs, passing Letty on the way. The brunette leaned her head down and pressed a kiss to her cheek as she watched tv.

She stumbled out of the door but was caught by a pair of strong arms. She looked up only to be met with those striking blue eyes once more.

"Hey." Brian grinned down at her as his thoughts ran to the same one; she was stunning.

His smile only grew at her flustered state as she realized what had just happened. She nervously tucked her hair behind her ear,

"Well, that wasn't exactly how I planned for that to go." She felt her insides twist excitedly as he grinned lopsidedly down at her, "I mean, I'm really enjoying this."

Her face grew an even darker shade than he thought possible as she quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him towards his car that was parked in front of her house.

Brian stepped in front of her and opened her door for her. She grinned as she slid into his car before he shut the door and ran over to the driver's side and jumped in.

Cha Cha Cha Restaurant

The restaurant was a burst of colors as the smells of different foods made anyone's stomach growl. Once they sat down, Sophia and Brian immediately get caught in conversation after conversation about anything.

Brian snorted, "You what?"

Sophia laughed, "Yea throwing up on her was the worst mistake. She was just so pissed off at me- and Dom wouldn't stop laughing at me. Mia can be scary, Letty ended up having to pull her away from me, just in case she was going to beat the holy hell out me."

Brian wiped the tears from his eyes, "Oh god- I don't know the last time I've laughed that hard."

"So, how is it, anyways, that the gang came to be?" Brian questioned Sophia, changing the subject.

"What?"

"The gang."

"The gang? " Sophia repeated with a smile. "No, they don't call themselves a gang."

"What do they call themselves?" Brian asked.

"They're a team. Well, more like family but team makes more sense" Sophia nodded her head.

Brian smiled at her words. "All right. How did the team come to be?"

"Well, that's a whole lot of history." Sophia stated, taking a sip of her drink.

"I've got time."

"Okay. Vince grew up with my brother. Actually, he didn't ever grow up, as you can tell. But they were friends as kids." Sophia sighed slightly before smiling at him. "And Letty, she just lived down the street. Always into cars, though. Ever since she was, like, ten years old. So, naturally, you know, my brother always had her attention. And then she turned sixteen _"

"And then she had Dom's attention." Brian cut her off with a smile.

Sophia grinned at him teasingly. "Yeah, yeah. It's funny how that works, isn't it?"

"How is it that Jesse fits into all of this?"

"Jesse," Sophia spoke with a smile at the mention of him. "Well, Jesse and Leon just sort of showed up one night and never, ever left me, Mia or Dom. It's just the way my brother is, you know. Dom's like... he's like gravity. Everything just gets pulled to him. Even you."

"No." Brian shook his head, putting down his glass. "No, the only thing that pulled me in was you. Being friends with your brother is just a bonus."

Sophia smiled at him. "It's nice to come first every once in a while." She looked up from her lap with a smirk. "Wanna go for a drive?"

Once they left the restaurant Brian threw Sophia his keys to the car. She caught them gracefully and immediately felt at home in the driver's seat of the car. She took Brian to the old racing track she would drive around for hours on.

"Welcome to my top-secret spot." Sophia said as she parked the car on the starting line.

"I feel honored. Truely." Brian smiled as she softly laughed.

"You should. I hardly take anyone here." Sophia teased.

"What makes this your secret spot?" Brian grew curious.

"My dad would practice here. He was the one who taught me first even if I was only just five. Sitting on his lap pretending I was driving meant everything to me." Sophia explained. "Also, I used to drive here whenever I needed to think or if I wanted to race the legal way."

Brian watched her expressions grow brighter as she talked about driving. Every word she said her smile grew bigger. Driving was a part of Sophia; it was part of what made her the person that she is.

"Well, you should show me your skills Miss professional driver." Brian teased as Sophia laughed.

Without saying a word, Sophia put the car in drive. She took off speeding on the long parts while gradually slowing down on the curves. Driving was easy as breathing for Sophia.

Each curve she turned on she couldn't help but laugh. A couple of laps later she slowed down the car before putting it back into park. Turning to Brian with a big smile on her face.

"So, how did I do coach?" Sophia teased as she couldn't help but keep the smile on her face.

"You shine out there when you're driving." Brian explained as he couldn't help but admire the girl. "You have this smile that is like the literal sun."

"Thank you, that's the sweetest thing anyone has said to me. So, it means a lot." Sophia smile grew as her heart pounded.

Brian tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before leaning in, "Well, Miss Sunshine what should we do next?"

Sophia couldn't think all she could feel was the warmth growing on her face, "Umm, I honestly have no idea. I just know I don't want the night to end."

"Well, they just opened this ice cream place right near were I've been staying." Brian suggested.

Sophia nodded her head in agreement. Both switched seats so Brian could drive them since he knew where the place was.

Harry's Shop

The two continued their small talk as they sat down with their ice cream in Harry's shop. It was where Brian was currently residing so he could get more hours in. Sophia didn't mind, she didn't really want to go home yet.

Each movement Brian made he would brush against Sophia's arm, causing her to be in a constant state of blushing. And each time she wanted to kiss him. Both got up to move more towards his room. On their way there Brian couldn't help but smile at her and it made her knees want to give out.

Brian and Sophia finished eating as he grabbed her bowl to set both down. He turned around to face her. He smiled charmingly at her, and she grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled his lips to hers as she kissed him.

He stood still as she pulled away from him. He looked down at her in awe before he cupped her face and crashed his lips to hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck, tangling her hands in his hair as she attempted to pull herself closer to him.

Brian's hands trailed over her hips before they came to a stop. Brian pulled away from her as Sophia looked up at him in confusion.

"Are you sure about this?" he asked concernedly.

Sophia smiled softly, slightly stepping back from him as she detached herself from him. Brian's eyes were full of confusion until he saw what she was doing. She slipped each sleeve off her shoulder as she let the dress slide down. Brian's eyes bulged out of his head as she stood in front of him confidently.

Brian moved towards her and his hands swept under her thighs as he easily hoisted her up. Their lips connected once more as Brian walked towards his makeshift bedroom. He stepped in the door and kicked the door shut behind him.

Brian's room

Sophia groaned at the loss of warmth as she hesitantly opened her eyes to a phone ringing.

"Yes." She heard Brian close his phone as she slowly pushed herself into a sitting position.

She tiredly gave Brian a confused look, "Who the hell calls this early?"

Brian quickly set his phone down before looking back at her, "Wrong number."

She gave him a 'really?' look as he leaned towards her. Her eyes fluttered shut as their lips connected. She fell back onto the pillows as Brian's hands trailed over her body.

She lazily wrapped her arms around his bare shoulders. She raked her nails down his back causing him to moan against her lips. Brian pulled away when she giggled.

He cocked an eyebrow at her as she sheepishly smiled, "I'm sorry that was just really hot."

Brian shook his head as he flashed a grin at her before he ducked his head and began to kiss her again.

Toretto's Garage

Throughout the years Sophia had worked on a couple of cars when Dom allowed it. So, she immediately took the opportunity to help work on Brian's car. Everything had been going smoothly and she was finally able to put the design she was working on onto the car.

"Looks good." Brian complimented Sophia as she painted the designs on the car they had been fixing up.

A smile stretched across her face as she replied. "Thank you."

Brian pressed a kiss the top of her head before he stood up, looking to Dom who was stood behind them working on something. "I have to make a parts run for Harry."

Sophia smiled as she replied. "Drive safe."

"I will, bye Sophie." He said to Sophia softly before he started to walk off.

"Bye." She watched him walk out of the garage.

Turning around Sophia remembered what she had noticed when looking at all the Garage imports.

"Dom, could I ask you a quick question." Sophia spoke as Dom lifted his head.

"What is it Soph?" Dom asked as he went towards his younger sister.

Sophia grabbed the paperwork she found around the office, "So, I was going over shipments and everything. I noticed we have more imports than we got."

"It must have been a mistake the manufacture company made." Dom told her as her gazed stayed on the paperwork in her hands, "Don't worry too much about it."

"I know I thought the same thing, but I called they said they didn't" Sophia spoke scared that she would upset her brother.

"What are you trying to say Soph?" Dom not liking how the conversation was going.

Sophia played with her necklace as she finally moved her gaze to her brother, "I'm not trying to say anything. All I'm asking is if you know anything about it."

Dom scoffed as he shook his head, "It sounds like you're accusing me of a crime."

"That is not what I'm doing. I'm just trying to make sure we aren't spending extra money on import that we can't afford." Sophia expressed.

Dom went to walk off but came to a stop and turned back around to his sister. "Isn't there a test or something you should be studying for right now? Mia isn't the only one that has to study."

"Yea I finished early, so you don't have to worry about its Dom." Sophia crossed her arms over her chest as she grew confused on the change of conversation.

"No, I am worried about it." Dom argued with her. "You're not doing enough of it."

Sophia scoffed. "What you mean isn't enough. I work as hard as Mia, so get off my back." She snapped before turning around and storming out of the garage.

Sophia headed towards the house int her shared room with her sister. She couldn't understand why her brother was angry. Lately he had been jumpy and that scared Sophia; she worried that he was doing something illegal.

"What's wrong?" Mia questioned her younger sister as soon as she entered their room, plopping down onto her bed.

Sophia sighed as she turned her head towards her sister who had set her book down and was now watching her with a worried look. "It's just Dom. He's been finding things to argue with me about."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, if it's not about my work ethic at the Market, it's about school." Sophia explained as Mia got up and lay beside her.

"Soph, he probably just wants to make sure you're on track." Mia tried reasoning.

"I know but he has been so defensive lately that I'm worried he did something stupid." Sophia admitted as she lifted her head while Mia placed her arm behind her head.

"Understandably he expresses his emotions in the worst ways, but he just trying to protect us in the ways he only knows." Mia said softly as Sophia placed her head on her older sister's chest.

Sophia nodded her head and sighed. "Yeah, and I understand he just wants the best for us, but he needs to remember we are also here to help."

"I know he does." Mia agreed as she held her sister tighter.

It was silent for a little bit before Sophia spoke up a bit. "I miss mom and dad."

Mia turned her head to the side and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Yeah, me too."
