Hello everybody!

So recently I announced that I'm doing a Q&A, and after giving the questions some time to come in, time for you all to get to know me better!

"How old are you?"

I'm 18 and currently in my final stretch of high school! I'll be turning 19 on the 6th of February 2021

"Where are you from?"

South Africa! I was born here and has lived here my entire life – Fun fact for those who didn't know, my native language is Afrikaans!

"When did you start writing?"

I've been making up stories for as long as I can remember, honestly. Since a very young age I was scribbling down my ideas on paper.
I think I was around 12 or 13 when I became really serious about my writing and realised I wanted to be a published author one day!

"What's your favourite book?"

It's REALLY hard for me to pick just one, but I'm going to have to say "Destiny and the Wild Horses" by Stacy Gregg! The Pony Club Secrets series is one of my all time favourites, and Destiny and the Wild Horses was the first book I ever read from that series – I think when you look at them all in my bookshelf, you can physically see that that specific book has more wear and tear than any of the others!

"What inspires you?"

Animals, especially horses, have always inspired me to write stories about them!
Going on holiday to the Kruger National Park has always refreshed my inspiration and will to write – some of my favourite books I've written, I've started and or finished at that National Park! (Including the very famous The Secrets Beneath the Lies)

"Who's your favourite MCSM character?"

Petra for sure, although Jesse herself is a very close second!
When I first started playing MCSM I think I mainly liked Petra's character because, well, she's a really fun and well written character! But the more I progressed with the game and the more attached and invested I became, the more I began to see myself in Petra. I feel like I understand her character the best, I can see exactly where she comes from and why she acts the way she does – This is coming from somebody who's anger easily gets the best of her, and can come off as mean and unfair because I react to situations impulsively.
I feel like where a lot of people disliked Petra's character, I identified with her and knew exactly what she went through (snapping at the others in the portal hall, the outburst towards Jesse after the Champion City thing)
I never got angry at Petra I just kind of felt... Damn, this is exactly how I've felt, I want to make her feel better, not have Jesse argue back.

That got long and deep, but I've truly never identified with a character as much as I do with this fiery redhead!

"Where do you get most of your ideas, like where did you get the idea for Endless?"

The weirdest things give me ideas sometimes, so I honestly can't say – Usually it's just a thought that popped into my head like "What if Soren was evil?" or "What if Jesse's town turned against her after Romeo's reign over them?"
Other times I cross MCSM with other games that I fell in love with, like the Long Dark (Final Days) and the Sims 4 (Possessed)

Endless originated from my daily one shot challenge I did in February 2019. The prompt for that day was legitimately just the word "Endless" and somehow I came up with the Admin Jesse concept for it. After writing a one shot for it, J found myself thinking back to it several times, thinking about what happened before and after the specific scene I wrote – bam, there you have a book!

"What's your favourite colour?"

It's always between teal and purple for me! Love those colours!

First of all, AWW THANK YOU!!
Secondly, I only have one word for you here: Practice! I know it's not always the response you want to hear, but believe me, practice is the best way to improve your writing. I mean, just compare my writing style in The Secrets Beneath the Lies to my writing style in Endless, you'll see the difference!

Just keep at it!

"How long have you written fanfiction for MCSM?"

Since the beginning of 2018, when I finished playing season 2 and began homeschooling!
Overflowing with love for the game I had just finished and new free time I didn't have beforehand, I dove into the world of Wattpad and fanfiction.

I drabbled a bit with ideas during December 2017 and such, but nothing was official until I began writing SBTL!

"Who/what inspired you to play MCSM, then write fanfiction of it?"

So I am a HUGE fan of Star Stable Online and have been part of that community for over six years now – during 2017, I was obsessed with drawing while watching YouTube videos by Stacy Place (not to be confused with Stacy Plays) who is part of the Star Stable team and primarily made videos for it.
There was only so many Star Stable content for me to watch, so I watched her play some other random games here and there – my eyes caught the word Minecraft and I thought, Oh! Minecraft! I used to play that a few years back!
However when I started watching, I realised I misread the title, it wasn't regular Minecraft, instead Minecraft Story Mode – which, believe it or not, I have never heard of at the time.
At first I thought eh, nah, I don't know this game, let's watch something else. Thank the lord I decided to continue watching instead, because an episode in, I was HOOKED!
Stacy Place only played the first four episodes of the game and I rewatched her play them for... Probably over 20 times, I'm not exaggerating.
When I found out the game continues past episode four, I decided against watching another YouTuber play, instead buying the game for myself. It was the beginning of a whole new chapter of my life!

During December of that same year, after the last of season 2 came out, I was browsing fanart of the game online and came across a link that lead to a fanfiction of the game – I've never really read fanfiction, but clicked on it nonetheless and was introduced to Wattpad. I read every chapter there was of the fic several times, before starting to look for more on the site (that first fic I read, I actually had the honour of completing – go read Fallen if you haven't already!)

I remember telling who was my best friend at the time, and expressing to them how happy it made me to read stories about MCSM. I said at one point, that it almost made me want to try writing fanfiction!
I still remember his words as he told me that I just shouldn't go and post on Wattpad as well. To this day I still don't know what he had against Wattpad, and I guess I'll never know as this person is no longer in my life.

At first I listened, but eventually decided not to follow his advice, and made my account. And boy, I'm glad I did, because my experience on here shaped me so much as a writer and is filled with so many irreplaceable moments, memories, you name it.

I'm still sometimes in awe of how close I came to not discovering MCSM, and I think that's why I love retelling the story of how I discovered the fandom!
But with that out of the way, it's time to wrap up this Q&A – I really hope you guys enjoyed getting to know me a little bit better!
