36 | NOISE

N. Hanson's Point of View

"Jace, man, get off the damn phone. We could be using the money to get food or some shit." I groaned, folding my arms across my chest. Jace held his hand over the bottom of the phone, "I'm on the phone." He stated.

I nodded, "I'm aware-- you're on the phone with your girlfriend. So, get in your car and drive to her house." I told him, grabbing the phone out of his hand. "Sorry, gotta go!" I spoke into the phone before hanging up.

Jace rolled his eyes at me, "God, bag your face, Naomi." He cursed as he walked towards the door. I chuckled, "Have fun." I sarcastically spoke, waving my hand as he walked out of the house. I walked towards my room before hearing the phone ring.

I grabbed the phone and held it up to my ear, "Naomi Hanson." I answered. I heard a voice on the other side chuckle, "Hey! Naomi!"

I sighed, "Hey, Bryce." I spoke in a defeated tone. Bryce sighed as well, "I just wanted to talk to you."

"Bryce, the whole point of this break was for us to not talk. At all." I stated. Bryce was silent for a second, "I'm sorry." He spoke softly and sweetly.

"Are you actually even sorry Bryce?" I questioned. To which he quickly responded, "Are you serious? Of course, I'm sorry." He defended himself. I groaned, "It's just that you've said those words so many times it doesn't even sound real anymore. Like, when you say a word too much and it just sounds fake. Well, when you tell me you're sorry it's just noise. It doesn't feel like anything." I spoke harshly, immediately regretting my choice of words.

Bryce scoffed, "Well, what do you want me to do Naomi?" He asked. I shrugged to myself, "Nothing, Bryce. I don't want you to do anything. I want space. Jesus, don't you know that? I don't want you to plead your case or to bring me flowers or some shit. I just wanted space. That's all."

"Naomi, please-" Bryce began before I stopped him, "I'm sorry." I spoke before letting out a laugh at the use of the phrase. I shook my head at myself, "I gotta go, Bryce." I told him before hanging up.

But in all honesty, I wish I didn't have to go.
