Help!- Bend Over and Cough
The Bahamas- three days later
"Bloody typical" Louise mumbled to herself as she pulled the suitcase along behind her and swore quietly.
No John.
"All poppy cock- I'll be waiting for ya with Champagne and chocolate he says, see you at the gate he says, with bells on he says... I'll give him bells"
She felt much better in herself ever since 9 o'clock actually and with the little pills Doctor Nate had presented her she was somewhat controlling the nausea.
Nate was engaged, no back up plan now missy. Lou laughed softly, poor John would be ever so relieved, every single time John had seen Nate he had a grumble, how she loved his grumbles. It meant she meant something to him, didn't it.
The week had crawled by but the one saving grace was John's phone calls. Without fail every night he yabbered away about this and that. How George and Ringo looked in stranger's ears and took photographs of their feet all the time.
How Paul was getting smashed drinking her favourite drinks and that she could 'run rings' around McOnePotScreamer with the cocktails.
John would then sing softly down the crackly line to lull Evie to sleep and afterwards, after they told each other about their day, he would talk dirty to her to give her something to sleep on.
Where the blazers is he, it's a bit hot, although my body has been misbehaving of late. Maybe it's me and not the heat...
A few local taxi drivers tried to get Lou to go with them, bartering and haggling while she had stood semi aware of their business dealings going on all around her. The plane load of tourists that flew in with Louise all seemed to skitter aboard buses or pre-organised colourful mini mokes which must go straight to resorts in various locales about the island.
A little blue MG convertible streaked out of nowhere and pulled up directly in front of Lou with a skid of brakes and upset of dust.
The dust settled and Lou wafted the stuff from in front of her face.
"Hey"
"Hey"
I'll take those, jeez what you' brought- elephants and bricks?"
"Pot ...... and spam for Richard actually- was given a shopping list" Lou rolled her lips making a funny grumbly face then caught the inside of her cheek with her teeth, she hadn't wanted to but needed to stop being soft and it was to keep the natives happy apparently.
"Where is he? He promised chocolate"
"I thought you were sick"
"Only in the morning....."
"Oh....." The heavily laden word he spoke was full of knowing and knowledge, he caught on quick.
"Oh, is correct"
"You haven't told him then, he hasn't said a peep"
"No and Paul, if you open your gob I will drink you under the table the first chance I get"
"You shouldn't drink in your-" Paul stopped abruptly.
"Paul" She warned "If I have a drink later and you utter one single word I will neuter you, comprehendo amigo"
"Alright, gee testy somewhat!" Paul shoved the car in gear and took off at Mach 3, Lou screamed then quickly grinned at the thrill. The wind rushing around them. Her hair flying all over the shot, such fun!
"When are you telling him, he'll be stoked!" Paul yelled over the car engines noise and glanced quickly at Louise.
"Will he?" she whispered.
"What!!? I can't hear you, speak up luv"
"I said" then she yelled louder "Will He!?!?"
"You not talked about more then, he loves little Evie though" Paul slowed the car and wound through the corners by the sea.
It was beautiful.
"Slow down, I want to look.... And no, we never talk about that sort of thing, everything's so darn fast. Evie wasn't a plan now was she, your tours and studio and media, the fans, the police, rushing here and there. Arghhh. Sometimes...." Lou wiped her eyes, she was scared how John would take this. Evie was a push, this was a shove. But he did love Eve and did everything he could to love her and treat her right, he should be fine she tried to convince herself "Sometimes I'd like to stop the world and get off!"
"Arrr but would you stop at crazy town or boredomville, that's the prickly question Louise, now isn't it" Paul grinned and put a gentle fist bump to her chin "John was asleep, he looked peaceful, what can I say I wanted to come see my favourite girl"
"Oh, you charmer you"
"Made you smile. I wonder, can I make you blush still?! I'll work up something for you later" Paul winked then parked the car and stepped out, quickly opening her door "Come 'ed"
Paul was radiant like always full of bubbly confidence and positivity. So different to a laid back John but so suited to each other at the same time, light and dark they were and one never existed without the other.
Dragging her gently but hurriedly around the knoll of a hill on a small path, a bay of small islands, atolls perhaps, graced the blue waters before them. Sun bouncing off the white breakers, palms swaying. Louise held her heart, it was so stunningly breathtaking. Paul let her breath the sight in for a few peaceful minutes watching her smile "Come on, let's go find Prince Snoring"
Meanwhile back at the Villa......
John noted the little blue MGs disappearance and swore loudly. He had promised her and now Paul, the thief, had hijacked his entrance.
Maybe I shouldn't have teased him about the drinks yesterday, John tossed the chocolates on the chair and ran a weary eye over his watch.
Her flight would have arrived by now and all going well, they should be close to appearing up the driveway.
The sound of an engine changing down through the gears at a hellish rate had John picking up the flowers and grabbing the chocolates.
I will just look like a prat standing here with 'em at the door, John surmised with a huff. Jogging down the steps towards the driveway he decided to duck through the side gate that led to the back gardens and beach so he could still surprise Louise, even if it was too little too late.
He missed her and her ways, the things she did for him without asking. His favourite fruit cut to pieces, seeds removed. The radio turned up on a favourite song or new one she thought he would enjoy.
She had good taste and a lot of the time, got onto a cracking new band even before Paul and that was saying a lot, that boy didn't sleep or so it seemed, always with one ear on the ground for new sounds and she one upped him often.
Everything was evolving, growing. The music, the tours, song writing, smoking...... And she embraced it. Of course, she didn't go as far as he dared to, he was always pushing the envelope never going by halves, but she hopped right up beside him and helped discover new realms and highs.
Never in a million years would I have thought she would be here, John mused. We made that deal, broke it, stomped all over it and welded ourselves back together.
A flash of baby blue metal screamed into the parking spot and John heard her hooting and hollering and Paul yelling 'stop it, stop it Louise' What had she done this time to upset him.
"That was so much fun!" Louise giggled as she shoved Paul in the passenger seat, having hijacked the MG it was Paul navigating and Louise speeding through the little narrow lanes. "Georgie wouldn't be yelling stop now would he, John might tho- Johnny!!"
"Hey baby, scaring our lad again are we?"
"We are... off you go change your diaper" Lou pushed Paul lightly again as he made to get out of the low car. She then waited patiently for John to tuck the chocolates under his arm then he held the door for her to jump up and tumble into his embrace "I missed you so much" The flowers were held above, awkwardly high then John decided to hell with it, he hugged her, crushing the flowers gently on her back.
"I missed you too, are you all better?" Lou grabbed the flowers proffered and smelt the heavenly scents that rose from the lovely blooms. "You're still a tad tired looking" Louise looked up and smiled sweetly.
"Oh, I'm heaps better John and that's just the trip written all over my face"
Smiling happily John and Paul let Louise lead the way into the villa that stood in front of them
"Oh my goodness, I've died and gone heaven"
Low, long and spacious the villa encompassed all that was laidback island living. Large lounge suites and palms and indoor plants blended, wall hangings of islander life decorating the wall, tables covered in knickknacks and huge seashells. The bedroom sparkling in aqua and sunny yellow tones all bound with white. The whole of one side of the villa looked over sand dunes and beach with the waters Louise had seen earlier touching the shore with breakers of white.
Flowering scrubs and tall shady frangipani trees bordered the verandah giving up a kaleidoscope of vivid colour. Louise loved it all, instantly.
"Dinner at the round hut ok with you?" Paul hovered leaning on the door frame as John watched Lou pick up some shells and turn them over in her hand. He had collected the interesting shaped ones for her earlier in the week. Lou looked up smelling cigarette smoke. She glared at the cigarette as Paul chugged away, then realised her mistake and cleared her face of any trace of distaste, Paul smirked and walked over to tap the half-finished fag out. "Its nice Louise, fresh tropical fruit and excellent meals"
Lou was being silly. She would happily smoke an offered joint now so she shouldn't be bothered with a little cigarette smoke.
"Yea alright, you toddle off and Lou and I'll meet you with the others at half five or so" John hopped in his favourite hammock at the end of the shady verandah, Paul walked about a bit longer then took off and John took no time in wiggling a finger for Louise to come over to join him in large red, white and green swinging bed "oh look at that squishy for two but still alright"
"Hello there"
"Hello yourself" John kissed her nose and moved his fingers carefully over her hair "Sorry about earlier, he shouldn't have done that. I was all sorted and fell back asleep"
"I'm here now and I got my present"
"Yeah those chocs will melt so we better eat them quick smart" The hammock swung gently with the two of them close, Louise could very easily fall asleep it was so soothing and being in Johns embrace, feeling his body against hers, made her safe and happy.
"I meant you, sweetie" Lou smiled in response to John's lazy grin and as he leant towards her he stopped and watched her eyes, then sighing he fluttered kisses over her lips. His kisses were so soft and butterflies developed in her tummy at the way he sighed after almost every one he gave her. Lou ran her fingers through his hair and they snuggled back down as John pointed out the seagulls that he feed daily.
"That's Bill, over there the mangy one is Chad, Emma the flittery girly one on the rock there and mother gull, Gertrude"
"Ever so pleased to meet you every gull and buoy" Lou waved a hand and slapped it heavily back down on Johns thigh.
"Ouch"
"What is your filming schedule?"
"Every morning, if Mal can wake us, from ten til three"
"Poor Mal"
'What about poor me! When that big lump starts jumping on the bed no one's safe!" John tickled Louise gently then wound his fingers with hers "Did you get nabbed by the police at the airport"
"No"
"Frisked?"
"Wouldn't you like to know!" Louise smiled as John tried to sit up a bit and watch her face for the lie or the truth.
"I can't believe you actually did it. I was only having a bit of a lark with ya"
"Now he tells me. I gave that fellow with the latex gloves my number too" Lou chuckled then pushed her foot on the post to make the hammock rock them violently "Had to bend over and cough twice" John started to tickle her silly then as she teased and pouted further he had her screaming with glee and kissing with abandon. John and Lou spent the afternoon happily tangled together.
