DECEMBER WAS FINALLY HERE AS Samira walked through the halls. She wore a red sweater, a short checkered skirt, tights, and black flats. Her hair was down for the day, a red bow in the middle of her hair. An arm was suddenly wrapped around her waist as she laughed. "Hey, Lee!" she exclaimed. "Hey, Mira. You're looking... festive." he stated, looking at her outfit. "It's my favorite time of the year so of course I'm going to dress in Christmas colors."
The two of them stood in front of the classroom door as Samira pulled away from Lee. "I should go. I'll see you later, skater boy." she said, kissing his cheek. "Later, sunshine." The curly haired girl sat in her home room as her teacher held a jar filled with paper. "Now, as you all know, it's the holiday season. I've asked students from different classes to write their names down and participate in the annual Secret Santa. Each of you will choose a name and get something you think they'll like."
Samira put a hand in the jar, grabbing a small piece of paper. As her teacher passed by, she opened the paper. Her jaw dropped as she read the name, a smile tugging on her lips.
School had eventually ended for the day as she and Lee walked hand in hand. They passed a few shops, occasionally stopping inside just to see what they had. The curly haired girl's eyes landed on a jewelry shop, leading the boy next to her inside. "These pieces are so gorgeous, especially that one." she said, pointing at a silver pendant necklace. Lee, on the other hand, was looking at her. "Yeah, it is."
The two of them left the store, headed to her house. "How could Anna fall for Hans that fast? He's evil." Lee stated, wrapping an arm around her waist. "Well, she didn't know that. He seemed like he had good intentions. I mean, if a prince was that charming and asked me to dance, I would too." Lee smirked, looking at her. "What about a mountain guy? They're just as charming and have good dance moves."
"A mountain guy would be nice... wait, were you referring to yourself?" she asked. "I was." he answered, kissing her cheek. "Well, just know that I'd choose you in every universe. We're like Anna and Kristoff in a way, don't you think?"
"We kind of are... plus Luke and Lorelai. Also, I'd choose you in every universe too." Lee answered. The two eventually got to her house, walking towards the door. "Oh, by the way, my aunt wants to know if you and your family can join us for Christmas. Benny keeps asking me when you'll come over." Samira smiled, looking at him. "Aw, that's so cute. But I'll ask my parents. Bye, Lee!"
"Bye, Mira." he stated, quickly giving her a kiss. As she went inside, she thought about the name she had gotten. She wanted to make sure the Secret Santa was special, something heartfelt. But what could she get them?
WEEKS HAD PASSED AND IT WAS THE day before Christmas break. Samira had dropped off the gift, going to her next class. The person she was assigned would get it by last period, where the gift exchange would take place. She just hoped they liked their gift.
It was finally time the exchange as Samira scanned the gifts, trying to find her name. She eventually found it, noticing the bag was pretty small. "Dear Samira, happy holidays. A girl like you deserves a gift as gorgeous as yourself. I hope you like it. From, your Secret Santa." She carefully took out the small gift in the bag, opening it. She softly gasped. "How did they know I wanted this?" she asked herself, studying the necklace. Students went around the room, trying to find their Secret Santa. She asked multiple kids but she still couldn't find them.
Lee was the last person as she walked up to him. "Hey, Lee. Um... did you happen to get me this?" she asked, showing him the necklace. "And do you happen to know who got me these?" he asked, showing her knee and shoulder pads. "I asked you first, grumpy." she stated with a smile. "Alright, I did. I was with you when you saw it, remember?"
"Yeah, you were. And I got you the shoulder and knee pads. I know that you enjoy skating but you still need to be protected just in case you fell." she answered. "You're really sweet, you know that?" he asked with a grin, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "Hm, I don't know. You're pretty sweet too."
"Only for you, sunshine." Lee said as he softly kissed her cheek.
Christmas was finally here as everyone opened their gifts and went their separate ways. Samira and Lee sat on his bed, watching a film on his laptop. "This is nice." Lee stated as Samira rested her head against his shoulder. "Yeah, it is. Merry Christmas, skater boy."
"Merry Christmas, Mira." He couldn't help but look at her instead of the movie, feeling warmth in his cheeks. "What?" she asked, staring at him. "Nothing. You're just... really pretty."
"Thank you. And you're really handsome." Lee kissed her forehead, laughing. "Well, you're not wrong." The two continued to watch the film, silence entering the room. "You wanna know something?" he asked. "What is it?"
"I remember it was December and me and Isaac had just moved here. I was in first grade and had to get a classmate a gift. I left the present on their desk and everyone was doing an exchange. She opened her gift yet I never told her it was me." Samira raised an eyebrow at this. "What did you get her?" she asked. "She had wanted this... easy - bake oven except it had to be pink."
"Oh my gosh... that was you?" she asked. "What do you mean?" Samira looked at him, her eyes full of joy. "I remember I had gotten this easy - bake oven one time and I never knew who got it for me. Who knew it would've been you?" Lee held her hand, kissing her knuckles. "I guess fate has a way of bringing people together."
"I guess it does."
The movie was finally over as their families were still inside. The curly haired girl and the skater were standing on the front porch, the Christmas lights shining on them. "Thank you for inviting me, Lee. This was really nice."
"Anytime, Mira. You'll have to visit more often, though. Benny really wants you to play with him." Samira laughed, nodding her head. "I'll be sure to do so. But it's getting really late. Me and my family should be leaving soon. Goodnight, Lee." She was about to walk away when Lee noticed some mistletoe hanging. "Uh, Mira?" he asked. "Yes?"
He pointed at the mistletoe, his ears turning red. "Do you, um... do you want to kiss?" he asked. "Yes, I do." she answered, wrapping her arms around his neck as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
And man, was it the best kiss ever.
