DISCLAIMER: I don't really know why anyone would get offended with this rant but if you are, please politely PM me. Many people may not read this rant, since it is a topic not spoken about on here, but I'm still gonna rant!

GENTRIFICATION : the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that it conforms to middle-class taste. OR ; the process of making a person or activity more refined or polite.

What were your thoughts as you read that definition? 

Gentrification signifies displacement of the poor, specifically the coc (communities of color). It is when the rich, or basically people with money, go to a community and fixes it up to a more refined neighborhood. 

Do you think it is a bad thing? And why? 

You might be confused at this point, but maybe after the gentrification process, unfortunate people may not be able to afford living in the area. Maybe a cheap grocery store or market place could shut down, and the poor family doesn't know what to do as they have their life on their hands. 

This is going to be too much of a rant, since I've never experienced it myself, but comment your opinions on this topic to help out others.
