i. the n word [rant]
DISCLAIMER: before any of you guys get offended or something (yikes), I do not say the "n" word nor am I white. I am a strong black girl!! : )
White people are not entitled to say the "n" word. I wish that statement could stand alone, but there are ignorant people that don't comply easily and start a foolish fight they know they cannot win. This rant is so popular to others and it is talked about frequently, but I will rant as free as I want because racial discrimination STILL LIVES!
The reason why whites cannot say it, is because there is an imbalance within society. It's similar to the book Red Queen (Victoria Aveyard makes me unstable), where Reds are treated like rats and Silvers are like gods. Going back to the topic, black people have claimed the word as their own. When you are a white person and you use it directly in front of a black person, it is 100% racism!!! The "n" word may have been used in history, to mean "friend", but look how drastic time has changed. The word means black. Students say is all the time and when I hear them, I want to punch them.
In addition to that, kids @ my school were skipping the lunch lines (aka white people) and saying, "Sorry, white privilege." UHHH, b I don't think so?? I'm honestly not even going to get started. That is racism beyond words.
Also, if you are white and you claim that your black friend lets you say the word, that makes no sense. You cannot get permission. That one friend doesn't count for the entire population of the black community.
To go along with this rant, I've decided to list some smol, underrated POC face claims you can use for your stories!
JUSTICE SMITH
BORN: August 9, 1995 (age 21)
NATIONALITY: Born in Los Angeles, CA to an African-American father and a mother of Italian and French-Canadian descent.
KNOWN FOR: The Get Down (my fave) and Paper Towns
I think he should be in a Teen Wolf fic, with Malia as the love interest awe
YARA SHAHIDI
SHE'S ALSO AN ACTIVIST, WHAT A BEAN!
BORN: February 10, 2000 (age 17)
NATIONALITY: Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to an African-American mother and an Iranian-American father.
KNOWN FOR: The ABC show, Blackish
Yara would really fit into a social media fic (I would say KJ Apa, but I forgot he was problematic smh), maybe a Tom Holland or Ethan Cutkosky one.
