Chapter 3-What Do I Do Now?
The man then nodded in agreement and handed the clock to me. As soon as that clock touch my fingertips, I knew something strange was going on. My stomach felt sick inside.
I pulled out my money from my bag and put it in his hand. "So, how does it work?" I said, staring at it. "Well, you see, there are years listed all around the clock," he said, pointing them out,"You move the big clock hand to point to which year you would like to go to. And then, you see, there are time's listed around the clock. You then move the small clock hand to the time you want to be at." I nodded to show that I understood. "Well, I mean, is this actually going to work?" The man laughed. "Oh yes, indeed it will. But, the only problem is, is that sometimes, it doesn't always take you to the places you want to be." I frowned. "What do you mean by that?" "Well, people always bring it back here because--well, sometimes it doesn't work properly."
I thought about this decision for a good 5 minutes. Do I really want to risk it? Is visiting my grandma when she's still alive really worth being stuck in time forever? "What do you want this for anyways?" the man said, interupting my thoughts. "Well, my grandma died 3 years ago," I explained," And I just really want to see her. I miss her like mad." The man smiled. "Well it's worth a shot, right?" I said, smiling back.
I held the clock under my arms as I made my way to the door. "Thank you, sir." I turned around with a smile. "Good luck." the man said, smiling back. These words sent shivers down my spine. What did he mean by good luck?
I pushed the glass door open and made my way to my bike. I felt my self shaking. I felt my heart pumping like crazy. What if something does go wrong? I thought to myself. I figured that I should stop thinking about it so much. So on the ride home, I tried to keep my mind distracted. It didn't seem to work very well.
As soon as I saw my house from a distance, I sped home. I made sure that the clock was securely under my arms. I didn't want it any more broken than it already was.
I jumped off my bike and quickly jogged it back into the garage. I sat it down lightly, brushed off my dress, and ran inside. At the speed of light, I jolted up the stairs into my room. I actually get to see my grandma, I thought to myself, smiling. I slammed my bedroom door and made sure to lock it.
I grabbed the clock with both hands. I turned the big hand to the year 2008, and the little hand to 1:00 P.M. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
It took me 5 minutes to realize I was still in 2012. I was still in my room, I was still standing here with the clock. What do I do? I thought to myself. The man never said what to do next. I turned the clock around and noticed a button that send GO. I laughed. 'Whoever made this must of been brilliant' I said to myself, sarcastically. So, I closed my eyes once again. I took a deep breath. I tried to relax my shoulders as much as I could. I clenched my eyes tightly shut, and pressed the button.
