Chapter 2- I'm Sure
I watched my mother grab her purse, and walk out the door. As soon as she closed the front door, i jumped out of my seat and ran upstairs to my room. I ran to my coat hanger and grabbed my brown leather book bag. I pulled my bag over my shoulders, grabbed 20 dollars from my piggie bank, and quickly opened my bed room door. I've never ran so fast down the stairs in my entire life. I was so eager to get to the thrift store. I've been waiting for months.
I jogged to my garage and grabbed my baby blue Cruiser bike. I love my bike; it even has my name engraved to it. I looked down to see my name, Alice, engraved in black cursive letters. I smiled, and swung my leg around my bike. I gave myself a little push with my foot, and lifted off.
All I could think about was the clock. I even wondered if it would actually work. Maybe it was just some stupid old junk. Maybe the guy in the store was just trying to get me to buy it. All these questions wandered through my mind the whole ride there.
I felt my long blond hair fly away from my face as the wind swept across it. The warm sun fell upon my face. I looked around to see tall, beautiful green trees around me. The black road was clear of any cars. Gosh, today is so peaceful, I thought to myself. I loved when it was quiet.
It only took me a couple minutes to finally arrive at the thrift store. I jumped off my bike, and walked it over to the bike parking's. I looked up and saw the words Joe's Thrift Gear. These words sent chills down my spine. I didn't know why it did, but it did. The whole building was old and quite ugly, but I actually didn't care. All I cared about was this so called 'time traveling clock.'
I slowly opened the door. When the little bell rang from the door, the man at the counter looked up. He was a rather large old gentleman. He had a short mustache and small glasses. He kind of reminded me of Santa Clause. But, I then realized, he was the same man from a couple months ago. The man who introduced me to the clock.
"Oh ho ho," the man said rather loud,"I was wondering when I would be seeing you again." "I was just wondering the same about you." I said with a smile. The man smiled back and got up from his chair. He walked into the back where it said Employs Only. As I waited for him, I took a look around. I clenched my bag in my hand. I was actually rather nervous. Is this clock real?
I walked around the small store. I saw little glass dolls, tea cups, books with dust on them. I picked up one of the dolls. I watched its glass eyes stare back at mine. I nearly jumped when I saw that the man was standing right by me.
"Oh! Oh my, you startled me." I said, breathing heavily. The man laughed. "Ha, i'm sorry, my dear. I thought you knew I was here." "It's quite alright," I said, my heart still pounding. I noticed he had the clock in his hand. "Now," the man said, turning serious,"Are you sure you want this?" I though about it for a while. But hey, what the hell, right? "Yes, I'm sure." I nodded.
