Dedicated Follower of Fashion

Somebody that looks so happy upon seeing smth to wear has to have a great fashion sense or at least a great interest in fashion. So let me take you on a short excursion through Brian's clothing habits. 🎉

Okay this probably will be very long, because I have a thing for fashion and the Stones (especially Brian) are a very thankful subject.

Never mind, let's start with the early Stones. In '63, not unlike the Beatles they wore suits and were surely noting near the 'bad boy' image they had later on nor did they really have their individual style. They dressed the same, had similar hair cuts and well see for yourself:

That looks very Beatlesque.

At first the idea was to portray the Stones indeed as clean, amiable, nice guys, same as the Beatles. It's actually a very common misconception that their manager Andrew Loog Oldham had the brilliant idea to style them as some sort of 'Anti Beatles', that was surely not his plan at first, but that changed, because the image of some sort of Beatles copy didn't fit the Stones.

So they changed their style to a more casual approach.

Okay well maybe except for Charlie Watts, but let's be honest he's nearly an exception for everything the Stones were famous/infamous for.

The year '66 not only marked a change in their music ('Aftermath' was released, the first album with only original tracks on and the first where Brian's talent at playing kind of everything gets very visible) it did in their fashion too, but I suppose that's for the next chapter. (The picture limit sucks)

We're here to talk about Brian, so let's have a look at some of his clothes before '66.

I don't know the source for this one, sadly, but he was one of the first to understand the importance of an image:

So, what "image" does he seem to have until '66?

I just want to point out that I made this judgement based on how often you see him wear certain things and the choice of pictures was kind of random. I have too many to exactly search for a specific one.

Probably one of his most photographed pieces of clothes at that time is his black and white striped shirt:

He actually wore a lot of striped things: trousers, suits, shirts, jackets and even swimwear. 😎

*cough*

But he didn't only wear stripes, you can see him wear dots as well:

Or smth with a checked pattern:

Another iconic piece of clothing:

He even had another similar one:

And:

Or other similar white shirts with print.:

Other than that he wore a lot of black or white (of course other colours as well) turtleneck shirts:

I think that are the key points to his casual clothes, so let's move on to suits:

Again stripes!

Or checked:

Or well a rather simple:

I know there's more, but I'm already at the picture limit. Sorry 😓

Well he was already nicely dressed, but we're still somewhat away from his most iconic looks, that give a rather accurate testimony of the fashion of the late 60's.

That's it for now. The next chapter will focus on his later fashion, if there is something you still want me to add to this, just comment!

Oh is there anything you always wondered about? Just call on me and I send it along with love from me to you. ❤

Requests, questions and whatever are always welcome!✌
