The departure

If there was one thing that Georgina was never any good at it was packing. From the young age of a child, packing had never been any fun, it had never sparked some kind of joy and therefore Georgina took no interest in the task. Which had spiralled into the now oncoming adult years, where Georgina hated the task. Even if assistance had been provided by the lady maid Mary it was not something that was enjoyed nor came easily.

Sure Georgina found a huge variety of new dresses of which were already packed ready for the season, a treat supposed to help bring in a husband. Wow them with the amount of money they were able to spend on dresses, which would be a sure sign of the large Dowery that the family could provide if they were to marry the socialite. Something that Georgina did not like the idea of, but knew that to avoid the spinster branding which would only come with the more years passed that Georgina spent alone. At 21, Georgina was already considered as being a late entrance into society for a first season. Many entering around the age of 17 or 18 but three years later Georgina would eventually be entering. It had started off due to not wanting Grace to be pushed aside for the younger sibling and had eventually developed into being too nervous to want to participate. But now was the time where Montery Bennett would no longer allow Georgina to sit out.

Therefore, Georgina stood in front of the wardrobe which held every item of clothing they had ever worn looking on with both a feeling of confusion and hopelessness. Georgina knew other than the dresses, nothing about what kind of clothing that needed to be taking. The season for marriage would take place over many months, most of the beginning of the year and into the summer months. It was a long time, and harder to consider in regards as to what to pack, therefore, confusion was the biggest feeling in terms of packing. And as the lady maid Mary packed anything that Georgina pointed out, she also put in items of which would never have crossed the youngest Bennett's mind to pack.

There was one section of the wardrobe of which Georgina spent a lot longer looking at. The section of the wardrobe Georgina knew could not be taken with them to London, knew that there would be harsh words from the head of the Bennett household regarding taking any with them. Well more likely from Grace rather than their father considering he had seemed to have accepted it more than Grace. But that did not stop the desire to pack at least a couple of items from that end.

"Georgina no, we both know your sister will flip her lid if we pack any of that." Mary spoke the woman having been serving the Bennett family since Georgina was 3 and having built the bond with the youngest member to allow such a manner of speaking.

"But Mary, it would only be one or two outfits, I would never wear them when Grace is around. I do not know if I can go all those months stuck like this." Georgina replied emphasising the current state of clothing when mentioning being stuck.

"The biggest problem is the way of which the season works, there is a potential a suitor could appear at any time, I do not know if there will be a chance for you to be him." Mary tried to speak gently, not alluding to much but making enough sense for Georgina. But it did not stop the want to pack the items.

"I shall only wear them at night when there is no chance of any visitors." And knowing just how long Georgina would and could argue Mary eventually gave up allowing the pretty spoilt child to pack whatever they wanted from the bottom end of the wardrobe. And what had started as only one or two complete outfits turned into more like 5 or 6 complete and a many collection of swappable items. The lady maid wanted to tell say something again but before she could the pair were interrupted by the familiar sound of a pair of clicking heels and an overdramatic cough.

"Georgina what do you think you're doing?" Grace's harsh voice bounced across the room from the entrance she had only just walked through. Georgina turned around with a sheepish look on their face, hoping that Grace would let this go but knowing it was not likely.

"You cannot pack such things, that should be something that stays behind in Yorkshire, no proper man would want to marry a woman like you." Grace's words bounced around the room as Georgina felt them hit with much more force than what would have been desired. Georgina was not sure whether feelings had been deeply hurt from Grace's words or whether over the years of which they had been thrown at the youngest sibling had Georgina become used to hearing them and they fell off like water from a ducks back.

"I can assure you dear sister that I have no intent for any future husband of mine to find out, I wish to be like you living separately and miserable for the rest of my days." Georgina and Grace were not known to be the nicest to one another, they had not been since they had been teenagers. They had never been the closest as they grew up, Georgina having more in common with Gabriel and Grace judging from afar for the lack of lady-like attitudes shown. And therefore, when Georgina had built up the courage to share the big secret with Grace it should not have been a surprise that it had not been taken well.

"I am doing you a favour coming to London, helping people see you as a woman not whatever this thing you have become. Do not throw this favour back in my face." Grace walked out of the room after these words most likely to throw the miserable attitude at someone else.

"Do not throw this favour back in my face." Georgina mocked loud enough that Grace would still be able to hear it as she walked away.

"Pack more Mary, I live to see her irritated." Georgina motioned to the other items sat on the vanity. The intent had only to bring a few items of clothing that were not what woman usually wore, now they were going to pack jewellery and other items of which would annoy Grace. Mary only rolled her eyes at the request, knowing that the season was not going to go as Grace had planned purely from this one moment, and only hoped that Georgina would be okay when the secret came out.
