Backstory: Matrix grew up loving Lantern Rite and always wanted to know who made all the lanterns. He was told that it was the Lanternkeeper. A legendary Liyue figure who used a lantern staff to not only make the lanterns but also guide them on their course into the sky. Matrix then aspired to become the Lanternkeeper wanting to help the lanterns fly during Lantern Rite. So Matrix met the Lanterkeeper at the time and trained under him for years learning the craft and how to wield the lantern staff. Eventually, his lessons payed off and be became the new Liyue Lanterkeeper. So for every Lantern Rite since his inception he's kept all the lanterns on course for the sky.
