The most told story was that Amaris gave up her humanoid form, to become fuel for the moon fire to ward off nightmares and let stasis run automatically. Most of it was true as for its purpose, but the flaw is that she didn't willing give up her human form.

Although her title the Scarlet Queen was given to her dragon half, she was nothing like the stories say about the dragon who burned down her enemies.

Amaris was was a gentle archon who wanted peace, and spent her time as a healer. However, her tribe and stasis priest wasn't exactly happy about it. They wanted a warrior not a little lamb, and that's what they called her.
So they developed a plan in hopes to get a warrior they wanted.

Amaris was living with the Kamaria tribe like all other stasis archon used to, so their plan would work out almost flawlessly without raising suspicion. Since it was common for most of Natlan to be asleep except for them.

During the day when Amaris was asleep, they put a sleeping inducing incense in her chambers. They used crafted abyss chains and used a small dosage of the arctic shard (the same material the arctic spear that shot the black dread) into her body.

Her stasis pyro was heavily weakened and her body barely responsive. They took her to a secret chamber, mainly used to conduct small rituals and blessings. There they conducted a forced rebirth, consisting of enforcing severe heat and cut into her skin constantly.

As to why they did this rather killing her outright, they believed in order to the warrior they wanted. They needed to 'torture' the soul so great that next life will recall the pain and pinned the blame on the Abyss.  
After it was said and done and by the time Mauvika came to look for her. Amaris's human body was mutilated and had been tossed into contending fire.

Karma would soon come to bite when Amaris's dragon form emerged from the fire, and obliterated the tribe making her fairly big after the result. Mauvika came and saw the raging dragon and came to calm her, and after thorough investigation she discovered the body in the contending fire. 

In order to ensure a riot or anything would happen, Mauvika hid the evidence and spoke of a different story. Wanting people to remember, that Amaris gave up her physical body. Amaris's dragon half was of course furious and refused any all people who tried to ride her.

Eventually leaving and went to go find Capitano, since he was in Natlan years ago and the two had interacted before.
