Day 24
They faced the judge,
Demeanor steely and set
Even if they were to be punished for fighting back, they wouldn't budge
so easily- they would make him regret
The trial seemed to span eons and a day,
Each charge read slowly,
The stink of money and influence causing them to gag out, the scent of decay
of Man assaulting them entirely and wholly
They were only half there when it was announced,
their other half far away, getting true justice against him and his doings
They were to serve jail time for an unknown time, the judge pronounced,
until there was reason otherwise, once they had righted their misdoings
They could do naught but scoff as they were led away,
Snickering at the lies told, at how they were said to be violent
They, violent, when he was the one who struck that day?
Oh, they saw how far his power reached, and they knew it would not relent
But they knew the fight was in motion,
And although they had been captured,
Nature still warred with Man with the devotion
As Mother Earth has, refusing to be fractured
They didn't know when they would be free again,
Or if they ever would be
But they would continue to fight, as they had even before the plan
Was put into motion- they'd fight from the inside, fight for Nature to be free
