~Chapter Five~
(READ THIS. ITS IMPORTANT!
By the way... I'd like to start this off by saying that I made Aiden related to Jesse earlier. That just won't work. Scratch that- Aiden isn't related to Jesse at all. You can keep believing it- but the drama in this won't make any sense. Proceed with caution.)
"Ella!"
I groaned, rubbing my head.
"Are you okay? What did you see?" Asked Mia, her hand on my shoulder.
"I... I saw Aiden..." I huffed, straightening myself. "He... He controlled the people in the kingdom..."
I just realized that my hair wasn't flaming anymore.
"Did... Did you put something on my hair?" I asked, curiously.
"No... You can probably control it..." Huffed Nick, parting the trees.
Huh.
I can control my powers.
"We're almost to the temple..." Sighed Nick, taking off his jacket. "It's really hot in the rainforest..."
I looked at the beautiful black feathers on Nick's wings, and I wish that just once... That I could touch the soft feathers.
Suddenly, the trees parted, opening up to a clearing.
There, stood a ripped apart stone building- moss and vines covering the walls.
We climbed up the steps, a soft orange glow coming through the temple.
The glow came from lava, which was slowly cascading down in gentle streams from holes in the ceiling.
"This... Is awesome..." Sighed Mia, looking around.
There was a hole in the ground, the lava pouring through it.
"I... I never knew that this could happen..." I said, shocked.
"It is a lot to take in..." Huffed Nick, spreading out his wings.
He stretched his wings out fully, smiling.
"I know that you two have been wanting to touch my wings..." He huffed, his wings just spread normally. His face turned bright red, and he forced a smile. "You can touch them if you want..."
"Ugh... No thanks..." Growled Mia. "I'm good."
I walked slowly to Nick, my fingers shocking me.
They traced the soft feathers, Nick flinching slightly.
"They're so soft..." I mumbled, smiling.
"I know... I've kind of had them for my whole life..." He smirked, folding his wings in. "Also- everybody wants to touch them because they look so soft."
He pulled his jacket on, and I wanted nothing more to feel his soft feathers again.
I swallowed the lump in my throat, looking around the mods-covered room.
"Just think..." Sighed Mia. "Our parents came here years ago... And they were our age..."
I tried to imagine mom and dad with their friends... Who knows? Maybe they were dating?
"Okay..." Growled Nick, walking to a layer of vines hanging from a hole in the ceiling. "Can you please stop painting a picture of your parents being lovebirds, please? It's already hard not knowing that they had children and nobody knew."
Um...
Why was Nick acting like this?
Did he have a problem?
"We're supposed to go up there?" Snapped Mia, crossing her arms. "It's doesn't look very stable..."
I looked at the ceiling.
It had huge cracks spiderwebbing across the entirety of it.
I remembered how people said that the temple was already old when our parents came here...
Now it's in terrible condition...
"If anything happens-" sighed Nick, climbing up the vines. "Remember, I'm an Air element, so I'll help you guys."
What was that supposed to mean?
Mia groaned, climbing up the ladder herself.
I followed, the vines feeling rough in my hands.
"Here we are..." Nick smiled, gesturing to a golden portal as I climbed onto the flooring. "This- is the portal. It will take us to the portal hallway, where I'll bring you guys to our world."
He took out a white glowing flint and steel, striking it and causing the portal to light up.
He smiled, gesturing to the blue sparks emanating from it.
"Do you want me to go first?" He asked, grinning.
"Yes, please..." Huffed Mia, leaning back against the wall.
"See you guys on the other side..." He smirked, walking through the blue goo.
Mia looked at me.
"So... What do you want to do now?" She asked, looking scared.
"We go through it together." I said, forcing a smile.
I walked forward, Mia right next to me.
The blue goo swallowed us, and it melted, revealing a long, dark hallway- the shadows bouncing off of five dark figures.
Make that six.
"N-Nick?" I heard a woman's voice.
"Hello." Growled Nick, his voice cold.
"What are you doing here?!" Spat a man.
"Same as you. Except the opposite. You don't want them to go." Muttered Nick, the shadow of his wings spreading out.
"But we have a reason!" Snarled a different woman.
"Like what?! That your friends are too lazy- lying around here with nothing better to do but have se-"
"That is not true!" Hissed the woman from before. "I thought your father would have raised you better!"
"It's concerning how much you would know about my father..." Growled Nick. "Considering that he really liked you."
"He did not!" Yelled another man, his stocky build appearing from a portal. "And you should know!"
"Well then why didn't any of you come back?! Too busy having children? Too busy being selfish? What about being weak? Because if my father told me anything about you, Jesse, it was that he loved you. You crushed him when he figured out that you had actually banged blondie."
"OKAY THATS ENOUGH!" Screamed a man.
I walked closer, seeing the silhouettes more clearly.
"THEN TELL ME THE REASON!" Snarled Nick. "TELL ME WHY YOU CRUSHED MY FATHER'S HEART BY HAVING CHILDREN WITH THE WOMAN HE LOVED!"
"HE NEVER LOVED ME!" Yelled the woman. "HE HATED ME! HE TRIED TO KILL ME!"
"ONLY BECAUSE YOU TRIED TO KILL HIM!"
"OKAY- WANT TO KNOW THE REASON WHY JESSE AND I LEFT?!" Snarled the man.
I saw their faces.
It was Axel, Olivia, Petra and my parents...
"HERE IT IS!"
Lukas ripped off his shirt, revealing a mutilated wing.
Completely useless, he struggled to keep them open.
Shock was plastered on everyone's faces, except my mom's. She looked sad, and my dad had anger making his face red.
"There. Now you know why I left. Jesse followed me, and we had no intent on going back."
Nick looked embarrassed, folding in his own wings.
"I'm... I'm sorry... I never knew..." He mumbled. "I just-"
"Do you know how much pain I've been in?!" Snarled my dad. "How awful I've felt about leaving?!"
Tears were gathering in his eyes.
"This was because of your father." He croaked, his wings trembling. "He tried to kill me."
I looked at his wings, how close the ragged cut was to his side.
Nick smiled.
"I know how awful it must have been for you..." He purred. "It must be terrible to almost die- and not have anybody care..."
Nick turned to me.
"Now I can help my father."
"Nick-" warned my mom, walking closer. "Nick, don't do this. Don't go down the path your father went down."
He smirked.
"I'm afraid that I can't do that, Jesse."
He growled, gripping my hand tightly.
"Mia and Ella want to help me. They want to help my father."
I struggled against his grip, pulling on my arm.
"LET THEM GO!" Snarled my dad, pulling out his sword.
"No." Growled Nick, drawing his own sword. "They're going to help me. They're going to give us their powers- and I will rule the worlds."
My parents and their friends took out their weapons, aiming them at Nick.
"Let. Them. Go." Hissed my dad, his faded blue eyes stone cold. "Or I'll slit your throat."
I had never seen the badass side of my parents and heir friends.
This was awesomely terrifying.
"Like I said-" sighed Nick, shoving my sister in the portal with her screaming. "No."
He kicked my back, and the last thing I saw was complete chaos.
My parents and their friends going on full attack with Nick, and Nick soaring into the air- causing them to run into each other.
Then the portal swallowed me.
