Chapter Seventeen: Stranger to Hyrule
POV: Link, age 20
I was in Castle Hyrule's courtyard, perfecting my skill with the sword. I destroyed my training dummy, then sheathed my sword.
"Nice work, my boy! You've definitely gotten better."
I gave the captain a knowing nod. "Thanks. Heh. Maybe, one day, I'll be wielding the Master Sword!"
The captain belly laughed. "Ho ho! Maybe."
I turned around to walk with him, but I noticed someone hiding behind a tree. I drew my blade in a blur and pointed it at them.
"Who are you? Show yourself!"
A woman stepped out from the shadows. Dozens more blades were drawn.
"Relax. I'm not here to harm anyone."
I narrowed my eyes. "I don't by that. If you weren't going to harm anyone, why were you hiding?"
She smiled. I couldn't see her face, due to the hood she had on. "Look. I just want to see the princess. Is that too much to ask?"
I glanced at the captain. He snorted.
"Hand over every weapon you have. Now."
She tossed us a sword, two wrist mounted devices, a bow, a capped quivver, and a blowpipe.
"That's all I have on me."
I spotted tiny bulges in her pockets. I guestered at them with the tip of my sword. "What are those?"
"Oh, these? Smoke bombs. They force you to cough for a bit. The smoke that is created does no harm, it just helps with encounters."
"Hand them over."
She sighed, then walked up to give me them. She then placed her hands on the back of her head. I sheathed my sword, then grabbed her arm.
"We'll take you to see the princess, but don't get any funny ideas, got it?"
"I understand."
She lowered her arms and I led her into the castle, with a hand on the hilt of my sword. I led her up the stairs and right to the throne room's door. I looked at the old woman who stood next to it.
"Taking her to see the princess, I presume?"
I gave the woman, who was secretly a Sage, a small bow. "That is correct, ma'am."
The lady slipped into the chamber and I waited for her response. She came back into the hall and smiled at us.
"She will see you now."
I walked through the doors, careful to keep the stranger a distance away from the princess. Zelda was facing away from us, looking at a storm that was brewing on the horizon.
"M'lady."
She spun around and saw the stranger. She also saw my hand grasping her arm.
"Link. Release her."
I did without question, and stood there. Zelda walked up to us.
"Stranger. Please, remove your hood. I wish to see your face."
She did and my interest was peaked. Pointed ears? She must be Hylian. Zelda was equally as interested.
"Oh, so you're a Hylian? Nice to meet you. What is your name?"
"Hope. Hope Everlasting, your majesty."
The Hylian gave Zelda a respectful bow. She obviously has met royalty before.
Zelda had a warm smile on, like she always did. "Nice to meet you as well. Now tell me, why did you wish to see me?"
Hope took a deep breath. "I come from a different world. One where animals are called Pokemon. These Pokemon are fierce battlers, and most are wild and don't like it when you get too close. But, if you catch one with these devices called pokeballs, they'll become friendly and will even fight for you. I have a friend who's Pokemon died. It meant the world to her. I heard that the Triforce can work miracles, but it's broken up into three parts. Do you know where these parts are?"
Zelda's warm smile faded and was replaced with a sympathetic frown. "Are these captured Pokemon like pets to those who caught them? If so, that's sad to hear. I wish I could tell you where the three parts to the Triforce are, but I simply do not know where they are."
Hope gave Zelda a tiny bow. "That is okay, Princess of Hyrule. I shall stay in this realm for some time, looking for the bearers of the Triforce. Thank you for hosting me."
"It was my pleasure. You are welcome to visit this castle, any time you wish. Take care, Everlasting. Oh, and Link? May you stay here for some time?"
I looked at Zelda. "O-of course, m'lady. Whatever you need." I began to feel my cheeks heat up.
Hope gave Zelda one last bow before turning around and walking out of the room. Zelda sighed, then let her shoulders droop. She returned to the window. I walked up and stood next to her.
"Link. I fear that Ganon will return, and that we won't be strong enough."
I looked at her. She's so beautiful....
When Zelda turned and looked at me, I snapped out of my trance.
"Link. Go with Hope. Find the Triforce. Hyrule needs it, as does Hope." Zelda reached for something in a hidden pocket of hers. She pulled out a photo and pendant. "Take these with you. The pendant shall protect you when all seems loss and and the photo... is to remember me by." Her cheeks began to heat up.
Holy-! She has a crush on me as well!
I looked at the photo, then tucked it away. I slipped the pendant's cord around the hilt of my blade and tightly tied it. I looked at Zelda with a smile.
"Thank you, princess. I'll treasure them always."
I turned to leave, but she grabbed me. I was confused as to why she grabbed my arm, so I looked at her. It was then she kissed me on the lips.
"Farewell, Link. I hope to see you again... someday."
I grinned at her, then walked to the door. I wiped the grin away, then set out, looking for Hope.
After asking several servants, I heard that she was headed for the forest. I casually walked out of the castle, then grabbed a bit of horse-shoe grass. I played a little melody and Epona came rushing to my aid.
"Heya girl. Missed me?"
I climbed onto her back and rode all the way to the town by the forest. I scoured the town, searching for that strange woman. I found the mayor and began to ask him about Hope's wearabouts. As we talked, I heard someone shout something.
"Brisingr!"
The hell?
I sprinted out of the town hall and found Hope currently in battle with cutthroats. I drew my blade and was about to help her when she jumped mid-air. She was dueling with a blood red sword. It danced through the criminals, dicing them up like tomatoes. I simply stood there, awed by her skill with a blade.
"HAH HA! DIE!"
I spun around and my blade clashed with another's blade. I pushed my opponent away and realized that I was out numbered. I didn't back down though; I never did. I lifted my blade and lowered my body, preparing for the dozens of blows that'll be sent my way. I clashed blades with them, battering away any blows.
I began to feel my strength fade. I continued to fight, pushing back against the unsurpassable odds. Right when I was at my weakest, I felt strength course through my body. I felt like I could face any challenge and win. I felt like I was a part of something more, something greater than my mortal flesh.
The brigands froze. Everyone did. They were all looking at my right hand. I didn't care if I had something on it, I cared only for the safety of Hyrule. And these brigands were threats to its peace.
I swiftly eliminated every foe, then sheathed my blade. I looked at my right hand and saw the one thing I never thought I would see: the Triforce of Courage.
I was stunned. I'm a part of the Triforce! I couldn't believe my eyes! A pat on the back brought me back to the world.
"Hah! So that's why you didn't know where a part was! It was dormant!" Hope was standing right next to me.
I looked at her and smiled. "We should go and tell the princess."
"Yeah. We should."
We set off for the castle, me on Epona and Hope on some weird device that hovered over the ground. We were feet away from the gates. I dismounted and began to run over to the closed gate, a wild smile on my face. It vanished when the castle was surrounded by a strange evil glow.
I slammed into the glow, which shocked me. Hope was instantly by my side.
"Link! Are you okay?"
"Owch. Yeah, I'm fine. But what about Princess Zelda?!"
Hope turned and looked at the castle. "This isn't a barrier Zar'roc can destroy."
"Zar'roc?"
"Oh. Zar'roc's the name of my blade. It means Misery."
"Oh. Okay. But the princess?!"
An old man walked up. He took a good look at the barrier.
"Hmm. Only the Master Sword can destroy this barrier. But one must gather all the pendants of the Triforce, but Zelda had one! What are we going to do?"
As I looked at the man dispare, Zelda's words echoed through my mind.
"The pendant shall protect you when all seems loss...."
I looked down at the pendant. I stood up and felt courage course through my body.
"There's no need to worry."
The man turned around and saw my part of the Triforce. He gasped.
"That's.... That's the Triforce of Courage! We don't need the pendants, we have the part of the Triforce! Boy! Go to the woods! Find the Master Sword! Take it and right this wrong!"
I gave him a solid nod. I climbed back onto Epona and rode back to the town, faster than I ever have. I leaped off of my trusted horse and sprinted into the woods, set on finding the legendary sword. A spirit greeted me.
"Welcome to the Lost Woods! Care to play a game?"
I tracked the spirits as they tried to trick me and send me back to the entrance. I eventually reached a clearing, but found an empty sword pedestal. I then noticed giant statues. I swiftly solved that puzzle as well, then in a blinding flash of light, the blade appeared.
I walked up to it, birds and fauna coming out of the surrounding forest to watch as I grasped the handle of the Master Sword. I pulled up and the blade felt weightless. I held the blade up high and felt the power course through my body.
I looked ahead, then flicked the blade downwards. I sheathed it on my back, then sprinted out of the forest. I leaped onto Epona's back and, with the Master Sword naked, raced to the castle. Hope and the man were still waiting.
As I neered, the light from the Master Sword dimmed, then brightened once again. Hope looked renewed. She gave me a solid nod, then smirked.
"Do your thing, party boy."
I smiled at that, then lifted the blade. I took a deep breath in, then stabbed the blade into the barrier. It melted away and the Master Sword looked like it had grown stronger. I stormed into the castle, only to be taunted with Zelda getting strangled.
"Heh heh heh. A second too late." Her captor was none other than Ganon.
He slammed the doors closed and I had no clue how to open them again. Hope did though.
She walked up to me, then smiled "Watch this."
She walked up to the wall, her hands caught on fire, then she blasted the door open. Ganon was stunned.
"Wait, WHAT?! What kind of witchcraft is this?!"
"The Light, bitch."
Hope summoned a flaming weapon and fired three rounds in Ganon's direction. He dodged them, but was put off guard. I rushed up, threw Zelda out of his hands, then engaged in physical combat with him. It was here, in close quarters, when I saw that I made a mistake. He had the Triforce of Power.
He threw me into the wall and the Master Sword flew out of my grasp. Ganon made a move to grab it, but when he bent down to grasp the hilt of the legendary sword, his hand phased right through!
It vanished, then we all heard a laugh.
"You forgot about me, didn't you?"
Hope had the Master Sword in her hand. Ganon growled, then grabbed Zelda's neck. She tried to pry his hand off, but couldn't. As she struggled, that was when I saw that she had the Triforce of Wisdom.
Ganon threw his blade to the side and covered her hand. His Triforce began to glow and then I realized it. He just stole Zelda's Triforce piece.
He threw her to the side, then grabbed my neck. He covered my right hand with his and I felt the power from the Triforce get ripped out of me. I was thrown to the side like Zelda and Ganon laughed.
"FINALLY! After all these years, the Triforce is MINE!"
Ganon looked at Hope. He began to laugh when she bared the sword at him.
"What do you hope to do against ME?! You are NOTHING! BWAHAHAHAHA!"
Hope pushed him out of the castle with that strange power again. She rushed after him, tossing the Master Sword to me. I used it to get up and watched as she stood off against Ganon. He was mad with power.
Out of the blue, a massive automaton landed right before Hope. It grabbed her, opened up, and Hope leaped inside.
"Together, we are one!"
The massive automaton punched Ganon in the face. He staggered back, totally caught off guard. The robot kept pummeling Ganon, him not able to say a word.
The robot grabbed Ganon and threw him back into the castle, dazed. I suddenly knew what to do. I grabbed the Master Sword and stormed up to the dazed Ganon. He looked up at me, then began to laugh.
"You can't kill me! I've got the Tri-"
I stabbed him in the heart, ending his life in a flash. I now knew why Hope threw the Master Sword at me. She couldn't use it to harm, nor kill, only show off. Only the true beholder of the Master Sword can wield it. I felt unfathomable power rush into me.
I looked at my right hand and saw the full Triforce. I closed my eyes, then, without thinking, separated it. Courage stayed with me, Wisdom to Zelda and I don't know where Power whent. I looked at Hope (who had gotten out of her massive mech) and she was flexing her left hand. She took off her glove and gasped.
I knew it without thinking. Power had gone to her.
I walked over to Zelda and offered a hand to the fallen princess. She smiled at me, then grasped my hand. I pulled her onto her feet, then handed her the Pendant of Courage back.
"I had no need for this. You might as well keep a hold of it."
She smiled at me cutely, then slipped her hand through the strap. She glanced around and froze on Hope. She rolled her eyes, as did that robot of hers, and she leaned against the leg of the robot.
"Lovebirds." Hope was now examining a wrist mounted knife that she had.
Zelda giggled, then pulled me in for a kiss. We stood there for some time before Hope "politely" coffed.
"Hate to ruin the moment, but can we return to my world?"
Zelda pulled away, then looked at Hope. "Yes, we can. But how will we get there?"
Hope stood up straight. "Like this."
She did a thing with her hands, then opened a rift through space.
I whistled. "Dang. You're a confusing, package, I must admit. Being able to do weird things no one can explain? Yeah. Very confusing."
Hope rolled her eyes, then her robot waved us through. I looked into the portal and saw a setting sun.
I closed my eyes and sharply exhale. "Welp. Here goes nothing."
I stepped through and was standing in the middle of a strange place. Weapons blistered at my sudden appearance.
My hand flew to my blade as Zelda stepped through, then that massive robot. The guns began to waiver when the robot stepped through.
One of them called out to us. "Who are you?! State your intentions!"
Hope then appeared and everyone (except Zelda, Hope's robot, and me) went "huh?"
Hope had her hands up and it looked like she was trying to calm a herd of bulls, which in all honesty, was what she was doing.
"Guys! GUYS! Calm down! I brought them here! Has the funeral happened yet?"
A backpack began to talk. What is going on?
"No, Agent. Funeral: tomorrow. Current time: Eighteen."
Hope picked the backpack up. "Wait, eighteen? That's when I left. Huh. Neat."
I looked at Zelda. What is Hope talking about?
I tapped her on the shoulder. "What do you mean, 'that's when I left'?"
"Oh. That's when I opened a rift into your world. I guess since I opened a rift where I exited one, it worked as a simple rewind. So I jumped into the portal, then seconds later, we jump out."
I was utterly lost. Hope had Zelda and I sit down as she explained this strange world.
".... So you're a time traveler."
Hope rocked her head back and forth. "I guess you can say that. Just... don't worry about it. I'll send you back soon enough."
I looked at Zelda and shrugged. We haven't died yet, so what could happen? We were led to a room and I sat down on the floor. Zelda gazed out the window and once night fell, I left the room, letting her change. When I entered, she was already in bed. I swiftly changed, then leaned against the wall. I slid down it, eyes slowly closing.
"Link. I don't mind if you sleep in the same bed as me tonight." Zelda's voice was enchanting.
"Hm? What was that?"
Zelda laughed. "I said you can sleep with me, silly. Come here. Isn't the floor hard?"
I shrugged, then stood up. I walked over to the bed and Zelda scooched over, with a smile. I climbed in, too, with a smile I couldn't resist. She wrapped her arms around my neck, then pulled her body close to mine. She closed her eyes and I did too. Our lips touched and we were lost in the kiss.
I eventually got carried away and began to run my mouth down her neck. She laughed, then playfully shoved me off.
"On my terms, silly!"
I laughed, then placed a hand on the side of her stomach. "Sorry. Got carried away."
She laughed, then sat up. She had a thin shirt on. She smiled, then began to tug at my pants.
"May I?"
"Only if I get to do the safe for you."
Zelda chuckled, then took off my pants. I rolled over onto her, then sat up. I pulled off her top, then her pants. She laughed, then pulled me down onto her. We rolled around, goofing off, and then she pulled me in and we kissed. We fell asleep and soon enough, we were woken up by sunlight. She kissed me, then I rolled out of bed, getting ready for the day.

POV: Moon
I woke up in Sun's arms. Feathers was patting me on the head.
"Feathers! Stop that! It tickles!" I squirmed around.
Sun's eyes snapped open. "Huh? Moon? Nightmare?"
I froze. I had totally forgotten about that nightmare. "No. I totally forgot about it. Feathers."
Sun laughed. He unwrapped me from his arms, then mouthed something at his starter. Feathers waddled over to my bag and began to look through it.
Eh. He's probably looking of Poke beans.
I got up and swiftly changed. I chose to wear black for today because.... Because of Absol's funeral. Right as I was leaving the room, feeling like I was forgetting something, Feathers stuck a pill bottle into my chest.
I almost forgot my pills!
I took them from Feathers and grabbed a glass. Pop filled it up for me and I swiftly took one pill, it sliding right down my throat. Sun chuckled a tad.
"Don't forget your pills, Moon. I know you've got ticks. Might want to tell Gladion."
Sun walked past me, giving me a pat on the back. He then stopped, smile gone.
"Look. I know you'll be strong. Strong enough to attend the funeral."
He walked away, leaving me to my thoughts. I sighed, then shouldered my bag. I left the room and walked into the sunshine. Hope was waiting for me.
"Hey Moon. I found what I was looking for."
"You were looking for something?"
"Oh. Right. I went off in search for the Triforce. Found it. It's real. It might be able to revive Absol. Might. Not guaranteed. So. Do you want to revive your Pokemon?"
I thought long and hard. I looked her straight in the eyes. "Yes."
I began to feel tears well up in my eyes at the thought of me being with Absol again. Hope asked me another question, strangely enough.
"Do you want to do it at the funeral, or after?"
I had to think about this one. I thought long and hard. "After. I.... I want to do it after a couple years. It just seems wrong to have a Pokemon die, then get revived days later."
"I understand. Well then. I guess we're going to give this world a Triforce."
I looked at her. "'We'?"
"Oh. Some... visitors I brought here."
"Okay. Weird."
I continued to walk, and eventually I found the place. Sun and Gladion were already there. I walked up to Gladion and grabbed his hand. He wrapped his arm around me and I rested my head on his shoulder. The others arrived soon enough, on Division helicopters, and so did my fallen Pokemon.
It was long. After I had said what I needed and wanted to, Hope, along with four other girls who were dressed in white, came up. They gave each other nods, then began to quietly chant. I saw that Hope was in a white dress with a N7 logo emblazoned on the breast pocket. They gently lowered Absol into his grave and they continued to chant. I got out several words. The words I caught are as follows:
Etro, Her, Providence, weep, made, honor, Absol, respect, treat, fair.
My tears began to soak Gladion's sweatshirt. He simply stood there, letting me cry into his shoulder. After a long time, Hope and her friends finished and they stepped away. Hope stood next to Sun, hands clasped behind her back.
After it was all over, Hope pulled me aside.
"Just so you know, Moon. What me and my companions whispered while next to Absol's grave was a prayer to Etro for her to treat Absol fairly. Take care, Moon."
She walked away and I was left all alone. It was then Will approached me. My blood began to boil.
"You."
"Moon. I'm sorry. Lu and I had no clue as to All Out Pummeling will kill Absol. I'm so sorry. I...." He pulled out a box. "I know I can never repay for what I did, but this is something I can do."
He offered the box to me. I opened it and saw a Pokeball with a piece of Gardevoirite. Several Rare Candies were also in the box.
"You got me a Ralts, didn't you?"
"Yeah. I did. I know I will never be able to repent for what I did."
I sighed, then sent it out. Rotom then immediately scanned the tiny Pokemon.
"Bzt. It'z only level one."
I looked at Will. "You hatched this, didn't you?"
"Yeah, I did. I nicknamed her Regret. You can change it, if you want. I just was overcome with guilt."
I bent down and the Ralts looked up at me, confused. She then rubbed into my leg. I smiled, then picked her up. She cuddled into my shoulder and I laughed.
"Hey, Will?"
"Y-yeah?"
"What are the Rare Candy for?"
"So you're able to level her up to a decent level, then train her."
I looked down at Regret. She was adorable. And she definitely needed a better name.
"Thanks for the consideration, but I'm going to train her, the hard way. She might not be Absol, but she is a gift, so I'll train her."
Will slowly nodded, then glanced over at the gate separating the Battle Tree from the rest of the contaminated island. He sighed, then climbed onto a Division helicopter.
It took off and I was left with the Ralts. I heard a cute sigh, then realized that she had fallen asleep! I smiled, then sat down on a bench. I cradled her, protecting the baby from the rest of the world.
I looked up to see three Agents donning gas masks. They stepped into the wall and I realized that they were going to take back the island.
