Chapter Eighteen: Burn
POV: Sun, age 20
Five years after end of last chapter.
I stuck my head into the fierce winds outside the Bird. Those of us in the Division had been at this for years now. I stuck my head back and and Moon wrapped a blanket around me. I smiled at her.
"Thanks sis."
She gave me a smile. "No prob. Just looking out for my commander."
We both laughed. She had joined the Division a year ago. She was still afraid of guns, but at least now she can hold one without breaking down.
"Thanks Moon. Can we get a pulse?"
"Sure thing."
I saw her ISAC node on her bag pulse. After a bit with her looking around, she smiled at me.
"No threats."
I smiled, then after putting on a jacket, opened the side door. I stuck my body out and the chill of the wind immediately hit my face. I looked down and saw we were still flying over ocean, but at least land was in sight. A feathery wing sliding up and down my arm meant one thing: Feathers was hungry. I laughed, then pulled my body in.
"Okay Feathers, okay! I'll get you dinner! Jeez."
With a smile, I poured some food into a bowl, then handed it to my loving Pokemon. I stuck my body out again and took a good look at the land we were flying over. All of the sudden, I heard an explosion, followed by another one. I looked at the Bird's propellers, then pulled myself in.
Grabbing Feather's pokeball, I returned him. "Sorry bud. It's for your safety."
I felt the Bird begin to spin. I grabbed Moon and tried to keep her planted and it mostly worked, until the Bird hit the ground.
I was launched out of the aircraft and hit the ground, fast. I felt myself hit the ground several more times, then I passed out.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up in a cave. A blanket was draped over my shoulders. Next to my, I heard someone struggling.
I opened my eyes to see Moon trying to string a handmade bow.
"Finally! Go- DAMN IT!"
I rolled over. "Moon. make a hole through the limb. Put the string through that."
Moon spun around. "Sun? Thank Arceus you're okay!"
I smiled. "Yeah. I am. Any others?"
Moon shook her head, then grabbed a knife. She drilled a hole through the two limbs and snuck the string through them. She gave it a good pull and smiled when it didn't unstring itself.
"Thanks Sun."
"Welcome. Why did you make a bow?"
"Hunting. We might be out here for months. We'll need food."
I rolled onto my back. "Good point. Try to kill only as little as you can, and waste as little as possible. Take care."
Moon grabbed a bundle of arrows, then placed a wet rag on my forehead. "Take care Sun. A Glock's under your pillow, if things happen."
I reached under my pillow and felt the handle of the weapon. "Thanks Moon."
She smiled, then walked out of the cave. I sighed, then pulled out Feather's ball. I sent him out and he immediately took over Moon's role of taking care of me. We waited for a long time before she returned with a bag of meat. She placed it on the ground and looked at me.
"Do you know how to cook?"
I sat up with Feather's help. "Kinda."
"I-.... I do."
Moon and I looked at the cave entrance. A wounded Agent stood there, clutching her chest. She limped over to Moon, then fell to the ground.
She had a Pilot helmet on. There's only one Agent I know who's a Pilot.
"Hope! You okay?" I got Feathers to help her up.
"Do I look okay to you? Of course I'm not! But at least you had that door open, so I was flung out before the Bird blew up. All my comms are down. We're on our own."
After sitting down for some time, Hope got up and walked to the lowest part of the cave, which was an indent in the center. She began to pile wood and other flammable things in the dent, then pulled out a pocket lighter. She tried to spark it, but nothing happened.
"Damn. Lighter's broke. Any of you got an idea?"
I thought for a long time. I didn't bring any TMs nor did Moon and we don't have any fire-types on our teams. Then, I realized Hope still can do it.
"We can't do anything, but can't you just use Light? Or magic?"
Hope facepalmed. "Right. Forgot about those."
She pointed her left palm at the pile of wood, then casted a simple spell.
"Brisingr."
The wood caught fire, then Hope sat down. Moon brought her the bag of meat and Hope began to get to work on a way to keep the meat hoisted above the consuming flames. She finished her home-made rig and then placed the meat on top. She then sat there, watching the meat tenderize.
"Hope? You okay? Mentally?"
Hope snapped out of her trance. "Hmm? Oh, yeah. I'm fine. Just got lost in thoughts."
I slowly laid back down. "Okay...."
Hope chuckled, then I fell asleep. I awoke to the sound of an ISAC acting up. I bolted up and saw Hope and Moon standing on either side of the cave entrance, guns in hand. I quietly rolled out of bed and stood behind Hope.
"Guys. What's happened?"
Hope looked at me. "ISAC said that our ECHOs have been found. An Agent's close."
I peered out of the cave and saw Rouge Agents walk past. We waited a long time before we relaxed. Hope gave me a plate of meat and I began to eat.
With food in my mouth, I failed horribly to ask a question. "Do weh ha wata?"
Moon looked at me, confused. Hope rolled her eyes, then swallowed her food.
"Dude. Don't talk with your mouth full."
I swallowed, then repeated my question. "Do we have water?"
Moon rolled her eyes, then pulled out Pop.
"Oh. Right. Pokemon."
We sat around for a while, then we all fell asleep. As I slept, in my dream (which was me and Lillie being stranded in a cave together) I felt myself get lifted up, then placed into a soft bed. I woke up minutes later to the sound of water hitting a puddle of it. I opened my eyes and saw a wooden ceiling above me.
"Wha-? I was in a cave."
I heard a quiet gasp to my left and I rolled my head over. A woman in a traditional dress was sitting next to me, wringing out a cloth.
"Oh! You're awake! Lord Auron would like to meet you."
I began to grow confused. "Lord Auron? Who's he?"
The lady gasped. "You don't know?!"
I shook my head. "Hang on. Let's start from the beginning. Where am I? Who are you?"
The lady placed a hand on her thorax. "My name is Oichi. You are currently in Aurora Castle. We found you, a Pokemon, and two women with you in a cave. Your bag and things are over there. We let you keep your watch and strange bracelet on."
I looked at my Smart Watch and saw it was still working. My AR HUD came online and I saw that I was good to go. I sat up and Oichi stood up.
"Oh, you can get up? Here. Le me help you up."
Oichi helped me out of the bed and I grabbed my bag. I looked at her and she was out of the room in an instant. I followed her and she led me down numerous halls, eventually leading me to a wide open chamber. A man stood with his back to us. He turned around and smiled.
"Oichi. So our guest has come-to. Nice to meet you. I am Auron, Warlord of Aurora. Who may you be?"
I looked at Oichi, then the man. "Sun Rising, sir."
He walked right up to us. "Good to meet you, Sun. What brings you to Ransi?"
I gasped. Ransi?! That's miles off course! "Me and my friends were headed for a different region when something happened and we crashed. My sister and I took shelter in a cave when our friend Hope Everlasting found us. She was in bad shape and decided to take shelter with us."
Auron had a look of remembrance on his face. "Hope Everlasting. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a very long time."
I looked at him. "Do you... know her?"
"Yes. She was a child when she helped us conquer this entire region. How is she now?"
"Uh, fine, I think. She's much older now, due to weird time quirks."
Auron laughed. "So she basically skipped forwards in time for us. Interesting. Tell me, do you have a special one?"
I looked around. "Uh.... Yeah. Why?"
He chuckled. "That's nice to hear. Everyone needs a reason to fight."
"Uh huh. Is there something you want?"
Auron looked at me. "I want peace. War has started back up. Ransi is always in turmoil. This time, men in armor we have never seen are trying to destroy our way of life. We do not know where they came from or who they are, but they wish to destroy us, and right now, they are succeeding."
"Damn it. Should have know the IMC would attack Ransi."
I spun around and saw Hope standing in the door. She stood up straight and I noticed that John was walking next to her.
"Auron. Sir. Those men who are attacking you are part of a militaristic group called the IMC. They are ruthless. They take what they want and kill anyone who tries to resist. The Militia is trying to defeat the IMC, but we are having a hard time. If only General Mauder would come and face us."
"Looking for me?"
Hope spun around, drawing her Glock. She froze up when she saw that twenty IMC Pilots drew their weapons. General Mauder was in the middle of the sea of Pilots.
"Stand down filth. You know you can't defeat us."
Oichi screamed. She stumbled over to Auron and he pushed her behind him.
Hope clenched her gun tighter. "I know I can't. But I can take you down with me."
"I don't think so. Open fire."
The Pilots unleashed a hail of bullets. Hope began to dodge around, squeezing shots off here and there. She out of nowhere fell to the ground, her Jump Kit not working. A Pilot kicked her onto her back, then placed his foot on her chest. General Mauder took an offered pistol and aimed at Hope's head.
"I know you're a Guardian. I know I can keep you dead if I destroy your Ghost. And that's exactly what I plan to do."
"No. You shall not."
A deep voice echoed through the hall. Everyone looked around, curious at who said that. Mauder shrugged, then pulled back the hammer of the revolver in his hand. Then, a loud roar sounded, knocking me off my feet.
I was pulled back by an invisible force, then I saw the one Pokemon I never thought I would ever meet. Arceus was standing before me, standing tall and proud. Auron walked up to Arceus and stood up tall, ready to do battle. I was totally stunned. Oichi was too.
"A-Arceus?! Auron!? How-"
Arceus let out a loud roar, scrambling the Pilots. It then looked back at Oichi. "I came here on my own free will. Pilot," Arceus turned its head to look at Hope. "Get up. Summon your closest ally."
Hope scrambled up, then sprinted to Arceus's side. She pulled out a brown flute and began to play. John appeared from thin air and got ready for battle. He then looked up at Arceus.
Arceus chuckled. "Child. Have you been using your gift?"
John smiled at Arceus. "Yes. I have, mother."
"Wait. MOTHER?!" Hope looked at John in shock.
John smiled at Hope innocently, then snapped his head back to the IMC Pilots.
"Shall we, my son?"
"Yes. Let us dance!"
The fur of the two Pokemon began to glow white. It became so bright, I had to turn away. When I looked back, all I saw was the room.
"What just happened?"
I looked around and saw no signs of struggle. None. Not even any drawn weapons. Hope had her hand clutched around air. She looked at her empty hand, then down at her hip. Her gun had been returned to its holster. She looked back at us and her face said it all. She also had no clue as to what happened.
Something must have sparked in Oichi's mind, because she said "Wait."
Auron wrapped an arm around her waist. "Yes Oichi? What's wrong?"
"I remember seeing something once. An ancient cave drawing. It was of Arceus, and the birth of the world. There was a child who met an Eevee and befriended it. There was fighting, and the girl was in every painting. Then it seemed like the girl became angelic, almost, with giant white wings. Then that Eevee was shown standing besides Arceus, both with white fur. Then, it showed the end of all the fighting. Do.... Do you think that was a prophecy?"
Hope began to tap her foot. Her finger was resting on her chin and she was obviously thinking about something.
"Do you think I'm the girl that was depicted? I met John at an early age, and he's been with me for my entire life. And there's the fact that that Eevee that was depicted besides Arceus, so there's also that going for me."
Auron thought for a spell. "Hmm. It is highly likely. Anyways, take care, Everlasting. I have a feeling we'll meet again."
I walked over to Hope. I placed my right hand on her shoulder, then realized something very important. My watch wasn't glowing. Nor was hers.
"Wait a minute. Hope. Look at our watches."
"Why? Have we gone r- wait. It's not glowing."
We looked at our watches. They definitely were working. Hope pulled out her phone and began to call Faye Lau.
"Lau? Hey, is your watch glowing? Wait, we've been deactivated? When? Just now? Damn. We fight for five years, without breaks, then the fighting suddenly stops. Wait. The IMC is gone?" There was a looooooooong pause. "The IMC is totally gone. As in nothing left. No troops, no ships, no Titans, nothing. Lau. That. Is. The. Best. News. EVER! Wait, the Division has been recalled? Do-" Hope stopped suddenly. "OH. Only the Agents from your Earth. Got it. See ya."
Hope put away her phone, then smiled at me.
"Sun. It's true. We've been deactivated. You can finally settle down with that special someone." She gave me a wink.
I rolled my eyes, then shoved her to the ground. I had grown much stronger due to the countless hours of weightlifting I had done over the years. I wasn't "ripped" like those commercials, but I was probably stronger than all those models are, put together.
"Lay off Hope!"
We both laughed, then she got up. We walked into the courtyard and a Division Bird was waiting for us. We climbed aboard and Oichi and Lord Auron waved at us as we took to the skys. I sat down and Moon sat next to me.
"So Sun. What are you planning to do?"
"When we get back to Alola? I don't know. Settle down with Lillie? Probably."
"Ooooh! And star-"
I covered her mouth with my hand and we fell to the floor, struggling. Hope simply stood off to the side and rolled her eyes. Moon eventually pulled away my hand. She was laughing.
"Chill out Sun! I know you're not going to marry her any time soon!"
Hope chuckled, then laid down on the floor. I sat back down on a chair and began to think about Lillie. The Bird touched down and the doors were opened. JTF officers waved us off the helicopter and we got off. I looked around and saw that we were in Hau'oli City. I tucked my hands into my pockets and walked around, reminiscing about how peaceful it was back when I was eleven.
I made my way up Route 1 without thinking and eventually walked into Iki Town. I found Lillie standing on the wooden platform in the middle of the town. She was deep in conversation with Kahuna Hala, and he swiftly spotted me.
"Ah ha! The Champion returns!"
Lillie turned around and I flashed my teeth at her, giving her a warm smile. She smiled too, then almost threw me to the ground with a massive hug.
"Sun! It's great to see you again!"
I laughed. I wrapped my arms around he and we shared a quick kiss. "It's great to see you again, too."
Hala laughed. "You two happy?"
I chuckled. "Yeah. We are. Say, I kinda need a place to live."
Hala had a huge smile on his face. He walked right up to me. "There is a patch of land here in Iki Town that's available for purchase, if you with. You'll have to build your own house, though."
I chuckled, then looked at Feathers inside of his ball. "The best house is the one you build with your own hands."
Lillie dug her head into my shoulder. "Are you actually planning on building your own home?"
"Of course I am. Feathers and I will be able to build a house, no problem. Right Feathers?"
The Decidueye got out of his ball, then gave us a prideful chirp. I laughed, then patted him on the head. I gently pulled Lil off of me and turned my focus to Hala.
"May you show me where this plot of land is?"
"Of course! Right this way."
Hala led us down a newly beaten down path. We stood in a clearing, fairly large in size.
"This entire clearing is the property that is up for sale. 100000 Pokeyen."
I smiled then looked at the kahuna. "I'll buy it."
I gave him the money, then he gave me the deed. Hala walked away, whistling as he went, yo go register my new property with the City Hall. I sent out Feathers and Lucario, then found a desk. It had an empty blueprint clamped down on it. I looked at my Pokemon, then back at the paper.
"Let's get to work."
