Chapter 9: Assassination Test PT.2

***Grey***

I wake up early to meet with my father for breakfast, I look over to see Blainiana. Though she fights and thinks like a warrior, she still sleeps like a princess. I silently chuckle to myself, "I wonder..."

Blainiana tosses and turns in her bed, 'Hmm, probably not used to the beds here,' I thought.

Then thats when I got the idea, I smirked to myself. "That is perfect,"

***Blainiana***

I started to wake up, hearing some snickering, "Hmm?" I responded sleepy. "What are you smiling about Grey?" I sighed at him.

"Oh nothing sweetheart, how was your sleep princess?" Grey smirked at me.

"Keep talking like that and you'll be the one sleeping," I grumbled. "It was okay, I'm not used to these beds," I sigh and rub my eyes.

He snickered more, "O-oh I'm sorry princess-"

"Tell me what you did to me or else I'll throw you down the hall in your underwear," I growled at him.

"Meow! Looks like kitty here hasn't gotten her beauty sleep," Grey chuckles.

"Look, I'm sorry, but it looks like you did something so might as well tell me before I tell your father," I threatened sweetly to him, getting up from my bed, stretching.

He sighs, "It was fun while it lasted, I got some ink and drew a mustache on you,"

"YOU WHAT?!" I run to the mirror and gasped, "How long ago did you put it on?!"

"Just a few minutes ago," He leans on the wall next to the long rounded mirror.

"Okay," I sigh as I look at the nightstand, there was a bowl of warm water. "Great," I go over and dipped my face in quickly, wiping the ink off.

"Well, if you're done with your little drama tantrum, we have to get to down for breakfast in ten minutes," Grey looks at his pocket watch.

"Okay, three questions that will take two minutes,"

"Okay...now," Grey starts timing.

"Where's my clothes?"

"Closet,"

"Shower available?" I asked as I was getting my clothes.

"Yes,"

"Is there a bucket?"

"What?"

I turn to him, "A bucket...where theres warm water and you use it to bathe yourself...?"

Grey looks at me confused then understands, "Ah, you're talking about the old fashioned way,"

I roll my eyes, "Yeah sure, lets call it that," I said sarcastically as I started to go into the shower...

"Grey, what is this?" I ask confusingly, looking at what seems like the head of the shower.

He chuckles, "Thats a shower, this is the handle, left is cold and right is hot, you put it in the middle then you will have warm water," he shows me. "Now hurry up, you have about 6 minutes,"

I nod and sigh, entering the "shower" and doing my business.

Grey leaned against the wall next to the entrance of the shower, looking at his pocket watch. "You have five minutes,"

I sigh, getting out as I turn off the water and got dressed quickly, looking at the mirror as I got out. "Do I look like a guy?" I ask.

He looked at me from the reflection of the mirror, "More or less, maybe if I.." he then starts ruffling and messing with my hair.

"H-hey! I just fixed it!" I smack his hands away and fix it again.

He chuckles, "Now come on, we have two minutes to get down to the dinning hall."

"Well then..." I smile, "Looks like I'm going to beat you!" I exclaimed as I ran out the door.

***Grey***

I sigh at her reaction, what are we? Kids?

"You're not dragging me into this Blaine!" I exclaimed, knowing to keep 'his' identity.

"I'm eating all the biscuits!!" She yelled, echoing the hall.

I chuckle, "For Lord's sake, not if I beat you first!"

***Blainiana***

I start to sprint hall by hall and some quick turns, though I don't know where the dining hall is. I sigh to myself and see a flight of stairs, then I start to slow down for them until-

"Blaine!" I heard him exclaiming. Turning around to see him right in front of me and tackling me down the stairs.

We both grunt down the stairs as we both got to the dining table at a not so polite and mature manner. I grunted as we got to the ground floor, apparently leaving me on the bottom of Grey.

Grey looked at me and smirked, "Looks like its a tie Blaine,"

I grunted and wrestled him down, "I think I have the upper hand in this Grey," I said mockingly.

He blushed and turned away, "Okay okay, fine,"

I smiled and got up to see my father and Grey's father, "Hello father, Smith," I said in my low voice.

Smith chuckles, "Hello there Blaine, son, can you stop doing these childish games with Blaine, you both are..." he looks at the clock, "a minute late,"

I started thinking and smiled, "Actually, the time that it took for you to give orders and commands for the day was two minutes, you didn't mention that Grey would have to do all these tasks while you're talking or else he could have woke me up earlier and did all those tasks." I explained.

"So if you were to be talking about the commands and then was timing it, we are," I looked at the clock. "We are three minutes early," I smile.

Someone clapped on the dinning table, chuckling lowly, "Wow, I'm impressed,"

I looked over to the person who clapped, he had similar raven black hair as Grey, though his personality was different and the look in his eyes, "Who might you be sir?"

"Oh please, you don't have to be polite Blaine, I suppose you don't recognize me by resemblance from my brother." He smirked.

Grey sighed disgustingly, "More or less," he said as he stood up, brushing off his tunic and tied navy blue jerkin. "Blaine let me introduce-"

"I think I'll introduce myself brother," the stranger said what he looks to be Grey's brother.

I try to remember my memories from him as they both quarrel.

"Don't you have a mission to attend to brother?"

"Oh sweet brother how rude of you! Trying to get rid of me already, know your place,"

"I don't think the word authority is in my dictionary,"

"I bet 'authority' is the only big word in your vocabulary,"

"And you wonder why you can't keep a girl for about a week," he smirks.

Smith chuckles, "Ooh, struck a nerve to your brother. Be careful you both."

"Yeah Grey," the mysterious nameless brother said, "Remember, I already gone through my training years ago and am a real assassin, unlike you, you still have to go through your trial and-"

"You can never surpass me even if you go through trials, from the infamous Jack Smith." I chuckle.

Jack was taking my surprise as he cleared his throat, "Yes,"

"And you sure start a quarrel, I guess Grey is right," I sigh, eating some biscuits with eggs.

They both looked at me in shock, "How did you get over there?!" They said in unison.

I chuckle at them, "Well, it seemed like you both were in a quarrel and I was hungry. Also while I was eating, I remember the time you both had a food fight, so might as well do something useful and eat than to watch a grown man and a young man quarrel like some kids,"

They both took offense and sighed, getting back to their seats and started eating.

"Wow Augustus, looks like you taught your son some manners, and you still kept quiet," Smith chuckled as he drank from his goblet.

My father smiled as he took a sip of his water, "I only taught him how to defend himself physically, his mother was the one who taught him that, but since she has more experience, he seems to lose,"

I sigh in memory of the times I had a negotiation with my mother. How I dreaded when I lost the battle and had to clean up the house just because of it, "Don't get me started father," I sigh, waving my hand to clear the air.

Grey chuckled as he sat beside me, "You excited for your test today?"

I shrug, "It's not a big deal, jumping, fighting in air, balance, that's nothing." I explained.

"What test are you taking exactly?" Jack asked as he got a few links of sausage.

"Free running and fighting in air trial," I explained, drinking my milk.

"Ah, I remember last year someone died from that-"

"PFFFTTTT!!!" I cough out my drink, panting.

"What?! How can that be? It's so easy!" I exclaimed, wiping the milk off my mouth.

"I don't know, there was some rumors that the guy wasn't taught in the arts of free-running and gymnastics," Grey explained.

I nod in reply and understood, finishing up her breakfast. One of the maids were going to get my plate, I smile and shook my head, "It's fine milady, I'll clean them up,"

The lady blushed and nods, walking to her post. I got up, "Are any of you done?"

My father nods as I quickly got his plate and Smiths finished one, "I'll be back in a minute," I walk quickly to the kitchen to wash the dishes.

"What a nice young man, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a few ladies crushing on him." Smith chuckles.

Augustus chuckles, "I don't know about that, maybe?" he jokes.

I hear them joke around as I sigh, finishing up on the dishes as I got back in the dining hall, "Thank for this meal Smith, it was nice meeting you Jack," I thanked them.

Smith nodded, "It was nice to have you join us, hopefully we can do this more often,"

I nod, "If you don't mind asking, how long until the trial starts?" I ask them.

"In an hour I heard," Jack answered as he sipped his water.

"Okay, I'll be at the horse stables if you need me," I told them and walked out.

***Grey***

I sip my water as I see Blaine walk out of the dining hall, shaking my head.

"Do you think he knows where's the stables are?" My brother, Jack asks.

"He has a sense of direction, don't let him fool you," I responded back.

"You know, it's funny how you defend the guy," Jack chuckles mincingly.

That struck a nerve as I continue to sip on my water, "He's just a nice guy and is new here, you would have done the same,"

Jack smiled, "Why thank-"

"I was lying," I snickered.

He growled and grabbed me by the collar of my white tunic, "Watch your place Grey, or else you'll be turning your name to black and blue."

I chuckled, "I'll take my chances, even if Blaine is not here, I can still kick your butt,"

Jack huffed and pushed me back to my chair, "Excuse me, I have lost my appetite,"

I sigh and finished eating, "I'll be meeting with Blaine, just to see if he has any trouble with our wild horses," I get up from my chair as my brother left the hall.

"I don't think so, my boy knows his way with horses and such," Her father sighed, eating his steak.

I nod, "Okay then, see you both at the trials," I said as I stood up from the table and walked out as the maids got our plates.

I started to walk out of the dining hall, I felt something bothering me...her father.

How can he casually call his own daughter as the son he never had? He just stays calm and calls him his own son? Not even bothered?

Also with Blainiana...how is she able to look and sound the part as a guy. Sure, when she's around me and we're alone, she will act like her true self. However, she is different when she's around other people and now.

I somewhat dislike the fact she has to change, she is lucky that her father and herself are good at acting, unless she got it from her mother. But thats the not the point! My brother is getting suspicious and I hope she keeps this identity secretive as possible...and I don't think that's the only problem for her.

Even if she gets in, which she will, she would have to hide her identity forever...I hope she's that committed to being an assassin.

I soon found myself in the horse stalls, looking at my horse, Raven. He neighed at me, wanting to ride, I shake my head and pets his nose. I then heard a grunt outside and a horse in distress, sighing I run out to the field.

Blainiana was on the dirt ground, coughing a bit as the horse trotted off. She sighed and got back up again to chase the horse it seems. No harness, just a saddle, she's going all out there in the old fashioned way.

I lean myself on the fence and watched her, she chased the horse and grabbed the saddle, hoisting herself up as she got onto the horse...with no control whatsoever. She got the mane of the horse as the harness, trying to tame what to seems to be one of our newest wild horse.

The horse jumped up as she held on tight, she grunted a bit as the horse did this for five minutes straight. Blainiana held on and calmed herself, starting to take control of the horse itself.

Impressed, I walk into the field, but then the horse got startled and jumped, leaving Blainiana falling to the ground as the horse trotted a good distance from me. I chuckled as she looked up at me and sighed. "How long have you gawked at me?" she asked tiredly, brushing off the dirt off her black jerkin and tunic.

"I wouldn't say 'gawking' but looking at you, it seemed to be forever," I smirked at her.

Blainiana rolled her eyes, "Remind me to stay away from you and not say my precise location."

I smile and shook my head, "So I see you are the 'old-fashioned guy'," I walked around her.

"I wouldn't say 'old-fashioned', but it looks like it, doesn't it?" she sighs, picking up the saddle as she walked back to the stable.

I followed her into the stables, "Yeah it does, why do you anyway? There is a simpler way to tame a horse," I explained as I lean on one of the stables as she puts away the saddle.

"Yeah, well, it doesn't form a good relationship with the horse. You have to show and work for its cooperation in order to tame it." she then turns and looks at me. "I only had a handicap on using the saddle, but at least I was able to ride her."

"I wouldn't say 'ride'-" I start

"Don't even start with me Grey," she warned me.

I chuckle then got an idea, smiling to myself. Blainiana got the saddle onto its shelf and turned to me to leave, "Now if you excuse me-"

I stopped her and turned her around, pinned on the stable, "I think you need to learn the authority...princess~"

She looked at me intently as I smirked to her, then to earn myself a kick in between the legs and a knee in the stomach.

I groan in pain as she kneeled to me, "I would have it and bruised your face, but you're too pretty to get hurt," she said sweetly.

I grunt, "You will regret this..."

"Bite me," she stuck her tongue out to me, "Besides, I have to take a test and I believe you do in a couple of hours, so that is plenty of time to heal and train up for your test,"

I let out a weak chuckle, "Always helping people, even after you hurt them,"

She chuckles back, "I would be cold hearted if I wasn't,"

I smile and got up weakly, "Good luck on your test,"

"You too," she smiles back and walks away.

*The Second Assassination Test*

***Blainiana***

I quickly meet the Secret Council at this part of the large courtyard. There were these buildings but have nothing inside, "I assume my trail is about using decoys," I said lowly.

One of the council members chuckled, "I guess Mr. Blacksin has taught you well, yes, these are decoys. Of course it should be easy for you Mr. Blacksin,"

I nod, observing a bit as I walked on with them.

"The trail is easy; you have to get the sword from the top of the church there," He explains as he points to the tall chapel. "then, you have to bring it back,"

'That easy? It can't be...' I think to myself, but that's when I saw an unfamiliar shadow by one of the houses.

I smirk to myself, "Seems like a piece of cake to me sir," I said lowly.

The council member smiles and nods, "Okay Mr. Blacksin, you start on that building and the minute you jump off is when the test begins, good luck," he said.

I nod and started to jump on top of the building, tapping my foot on the cement to feel its trench and grip of my boots. I then loosen my cloak as I smirked to myself. I take a deep breath and smile, feeling my own surroundings.

I snap my eyes open and start sprinting to the edge of the building and jumped high, feeling the air loosely brush my shortened hair, the adrenaline rushed as two assassins jumped up. I got both ends of my cloak and blinded them as I was in the air. I quickly pushed my cloak over them as I did a flip.

Landing on the concrete and sprinting head towards the first assassin, sliding a side kick. I jump up and kick his chest, pushing up as the two recent assassins go back to me. I then got the blades attached from their belts in the air as I threw them towards them, both of them pinned to the building in front of me their clothing pinned on the wall.

I then run and jump from the building, dodging and blocking punches using my cloak to the advantage. I then get close to the chapel until I noticed the guy with a dark cloak, different then the others that had a navy blue suit and blades attached on their thighs.

Watching the guy intently, I twirl with the blade I got from the last assassin. I smile and sat on the edge of the building and closed my eyes...waiting...

***Grey***

I look at her from the chapel, having my cloak hiding my face so she didn't know of my presence. She sat down and closes her eyes, 'What is she thinking?'

She stays there calmly, the wind moving the hair out of her porcelain face.

"Two can play at that game," I muttered to myself, remembering how she got the other assassins to do the same thing; attack her.

I then see her take off her cloak, wearing her navy blue suit as she puts the blade strapped on her boot. She closes her eyes again and puts her head down.

"What the heck is she thinking?" I said to myself, she smiles as she heard me.

I look at her closely, getting a little closer as she snapped open her eyes. That startled me a bit to the point where the assassins got me. "What the- What are you doing?!" The hood of my cloak fell down to my shoulders.

"I thought you were Mr. Blacksin," the assassin said.

"Hahahaha!"

I look up to see Blainianna grab the sword, then get surrounded by assassins. I smile to myself, "You have nowhere to go Blaine," I told her.

What she did was unexpected...she backs up a bit then jumps off the chapel, throwing her cloak at me to almost making me fall off a hundred of feet. I quickly take the cloak off me and look down, seeing her falling and stabbing her sword inside the chapel and slowing her way down to the ground. She yanked the sword out of the chapel and made a run for it, seeing the assassins around her attacking her.

Running rooftop to rooftop, I slammed my sword against her as she blocked. She slid her sword at the edge and got into stance, smiling to me.

I smile back and swung her sword at her as she counter attack, clash after clash and pivoting I finally threw up her sword up in the air. She then pushed off my chest, getting me off guard as she pushed me to the ground.

I then see her grab the sword and run to the ending point, less time to get up and go after her. I panted as I got my sword as the council members congratulate her. She bowed to them and walked to me as I walked to her.

"Not bad, Blaine," I chuckled.

"Not bad yourself Grey," she smiled, "Thank you for letting me win,"

I chuckle at myself, "Excuse me?"

"You were holding back, I noticed when you were attacking me. There were some points you could have gotten me, but you didn't," she chuckles as she started to walk back before I responded back.

"Next time we both duel, don't hold back," She said to me as she walked.

I grinned, "I'll make sure I won't then.."
