Chapter 5: Day 3 of Training

For this lesson, my father is teaching me how to blend in not only with my surroundings, but with the shadows.

For now, I'm blending in with crowds and whenever I'm alone. I have on a brown cape, which covers my face, and my lesson is to blend in with the monks in town. Right now, I am sitting on a bench in the alley way, looking down. I look up and see a group of monks, putting their head down with their hands together, praying.

"Focus on your surroundings to get to the group," my father said, sitting next to me. I nodded and made my way to the group.

I looked around and made my way to the group of monks. I followed behind them and made sure they didn't see me. I put my head down, put my hands together and blended. I was now acting like a monk and the people did not notice.

My destination was in an alley way around the back of the house. I blended out carefully and made my way through the dark alley. "Very good," someone said. I stopped and looked around, making sure that my face wasn't showing.

"Don't worry, I'm no going to hurt you," someone jumped off the roof and stayed in the shadows.

"Show yourself," I said in a low voice, the person chuckled and came out of the shadows. My heart skipped a beat. What is wrong with me? His eyes were blue as ice, his hair was raven black, he covered half of his face with mask.

"Enough talk," the minute he said that, he attempted to punched me. I blocked his punched and hit him on the side. He stumbled back, then regained his composure and fought again. I had blocked his kicks and punches, replacing them with hits on the arm and chest.

He got a hold of a wooden stick and used it as a sword. As I'm looking for something to defend my self with, he swings the sword at me. I back-flipped, knocking the sword out of his hand. I landed and the stick was in the air. I wall-climbed and jumped from it, getting the stick, then barrel rolling on the ground. I then stand and put the stick under the stranger's chin.

"Wow, I'm impressed," the stranger said. "I was thinking you were an amateur assassin, but I was wrong,"

"Take off your mask and show yourself," I commanded him.

He laughs, "If you get pass the test from the Secret Counsel, then I will show you my identity," He goes away to the shadows.

"Wait," I shouted. "If you cannot show me your identity, tell me, what's your name?" He turns around and says. "My name is Grey," he turns and walks towards the shadows, never to be seen again.

"Blania, are you alright?" My father said, jumping from the roof top. "I lost sight of you in the crowd, I guess that shows you're good with blending in the middle of daylight."

"Yes father, I'm fine," I said looking back. "What is our next lesson?"

"Well, since you have mastered hiding in broad daylight, its time to practice at night," I smiled.

We went back to the house and saw mother. "Oh my, Blania, you're as skinny as a stick," I jumped when she said stick. "Here eat up," she gave me a bowl with beans, chicken and some bread. "Is your lesson done?"

"Not yet, tonight we are going to be training how to hide in the shadows," I said simply, my mother cringed.

"Then, you better get some rest, I don't want you to be falling asleep while hiding or we'll never find you,"

Father laughed, "Your mother is right,"

My mother glared at father, "And you mister," she pointed a finger at him, "If you lose my daughter, out in the streets, I swear, I will yell at you so loud, your head will spin!" My mother warned my father, I laughed.

"Meredith," my father kissed her forehead. "Don't worry, I'm not leaving her out of my sight." I nodded in agreement.

"You better not or I'll-" my father interrupts her, kissing her and of coarse she kisses back.

"Bleh, get yourselves a room," I said disgustingly. "Now I lost my appetite." Mother and father laughed.

"You will experience romance in time," my mother said hugging father.

"When the time comes," I warned. "I'm taking a nap," I wave off, and head to my room. I see my straw bed with my mothers quilt on top. I jump into the soft straw bed and slept.

.

.

I have already woke up and now I'm preparing for the second part of the lesson. Father said I cannot wear my cape, because it tracks to much attention and its hard to hide in the darkness with. I got ready and put on my mask over my face.

I met up with father, he said we are going to take it easy and hide in the alley ways. We get around the back and I figure out where to hide. "Now I'm going to close my eyes and when I open them, I will try to find you," My father explained. "You are going to be hiding in the shadows as quietly and best as you can."

I nodded in agreement. My father closed his eyes and I quietly hid in an alley way behind him. He opens his eyes and tries to find me. 'This is going to be easy'  I thought to myself. 'It's like playing hide and seek,'   My father goes into another alley way, but then i feel someone behind me.

"Hey newb," I turn around and throw my fist at him. Unfortunately, he blocks it with his hand.

"Chill, I'm not going to hurt you anymore, remember?" I nod in agreement and put my fist down, It was Grey 'What is he doing here?'

"Can I give you my opinion?" I shrugged focusing where my dad is. "First of all, nice job on hiding from your pops, but lean in more in the shadow if he was real spectacle."

I lean into my shadow, "By the way, good punch," he complimented, I nodded in reply.

I hear my name in the distance, "Blaine, come out!" I sigh as I got out of the shadows.

"Well, this is my time to leave." He looks at me and smirks, "Let's get to know each other some time, Blaine," He jumps and goes away.

'Why did my heart flutter when he said that?'  I had so many questions, I could not bare it.

I saw my dad going to the alley way I was at. "Where were you?" I pointed at the shadow next to the house. "Good choice, all in all, you have passed. The next lesson is weaponry."

I smiled and put down my mask. "May we please go inside, I'm tired." My father nods in agreement and we both went inside.

Grey POV

There's something about this guy that's, different. As I was about to leave, I hear his father. I recognized him, he is one of my dad's friends and partner.

'I didn't know they had a son, I thought they only had a daughter.'  I thought as I saw them both talking. Then I see him take off his mask. 'It's not their son, it's their daughter!'   I was surprised by this, 'a girl who's going to be an assassin? She is hiding her identity in order to be an assassin?'

I have only met her when I was little, then time and time again I would see her less or none at all. I looked at her, she has finally grown up. I see her smile, how I miss it like it was lighting in the night sky. (Excuse the cheesy line XD)

I smirked, 'Alright "Blaine" I'll play your game,' I see her walk in the house. 'I just hope you can keep it a secret when it's over,'
