16 - The Uniting of Two Destined Hearts

Bang stepped outside to confront Leo and his gang, the chaotic scene of fire and billowing smoke surrounded him. As the dust and smoke began to settle, the agonizing groans of the approaching zombies grew clearer, signaling the imminent flood of undead about to descend upon the area. However, Bang wasn't worried; everyone had managed to escape to safety, and he didn't intend to stay put in this perilous location either.

With a defiant and mocking smile, Bang directed a rude gesture at the direction from which the fire blast had originated. He knew all too well that such a gesture would infuriate Leo and his gang, adding fuel to their anger. With swift determination, Bang made his move, sprinting toward the Student Recreation Center, the next stage of their plan.

His action proved successful, as Leo, a young man with no distinctive features that would catch anyone's attention, seethed with rage at being taunted. The provocation brought back memories of his past, a time when he was a lowly thug wandering the streets, enduring the disgust and disdain from passersby.

In a fit of anger, Leo forcefully destroyed the nearby notice board that had once been a marker of the lecturer's lounge. He barked out an order to his followers, his pride and ego preventing him from heeding their concerns.

"I will deal with the betrayal myself. The rest of you, take care of the survivors inside the building."

But Build, the second in command of the group, couldn't help expressing his worry. "Khun Leo, I'm concerned this might be a trap. Bang could be leading you into a dangerous situation."

"A trap? Do you think I'm scared?" Leo retorted arrogantly, dismissing the warnings. "Let's see what he can do. He's just a futile mouse struggling before meeting his end."

As Leo's gang dispersed to carry out his orders, the tension in the air grew even thicker, but Bang remained focused on his mission. He sprinted as fast as he could, deftly avoiding the zombies that stumbled past him.

Leo seemed to relish playing with his prey, as evidenced by the fire blasts that came perilously close to Bang, causing explosions that quickened his heartbeat. However, Bang noticed that Leo wasn't aiming directly for him but rather at his surroundings, as if to prolong his torment.

Despite Bang's agility, he too made a few mistakes along the way. But miraculously, he managed to escape dangerous situations through unexpected turns of fate. One such instance occurred when he stumbled and fell, just as a zombie lunged at him. The sudden loss of its target threw the undead off balance, giving Bang a split-second advantage to evade the imminent threat.

Another time, a massive concrete debris from a fire blast explosion hurtled towards him, but it too missed its mark. He knew these were Fourth's actions. Fourth must have tried to protect him by using his power from hidden places nearby.

This act of protection bolstered Bang's confidence, knowing that his friend was watching his back. His eyes fixed on the Student Recreation Center, the destination of his run. He knew that every passing moment brought him closer to his final confrontation with Leo.

The Student Recreation Center was currently undergoing structural improvements, evident by the unpainted walls, exposed supporting metal rods, and scattered building materials on the ground floor. Bang was determined to enter, taking advantage of the open entrance with the large door removed.

However, just as he was about to step inside, another fire blast shook the area, sending out a cloud of dust that obstructed vision. In that moment of chaos, Fourth saw an opportunity to act. Utilizing his powers, he created a force that pulled Bang towards him, dragging him to safety in a nearby hiding spot. Initially taken aback by the unexpected pull, Bang soon recognized Fourth and questioned him with a hint of irritation.

"What are you doing, Ai' Fourth?"

Apologizing for his abrupt actions, Fourth knew time was of the essence and needed to act swiftly. He gently touched Bang's forehead, and a faint light emitted from his hand, causing Bang to fall into a deep sleep, despite his feeble resistance.

"I'm sorry but your part is done. Now it's my turn," Fourth explained as he carefully removed Bang's hoodie and put it on himself. "The remaining tasks are extremely dangerous."

Fourth knew that his success hinged on flawlessly imitating Bang's appearance. Luckily, they both wore the university's standard uniform: a white shirt and black pants. With Bang's hoodie pulled snugly over his head and a mask concealing any distinguishing features, he looked remarkably like Bang. Their height and body figures were nearly identical, further aiding his deception.

Meanwhile, Bang remained safely hidden inside a large metal garbage container nearby, out of sight from prying eyes and zombies.

As Fourth assumed Bang's identity, time was of the essence, and he had to act swiftly before Leo grew suspicious. Fourth entered the building and positioned himself at the center of the ground floor in the Student Recreation Center, ready to face Leo.

Leo, still seething with anger, arrived a couple of minutes later. His eyes narrowed as he spotted "Bang" standing defiantly before him. However, Fourth's commitment to the role and uncanny resemblance to Bang made it difficult for Leo to question the charade immediately.

With a cold and twisted smile, Leo addressed "Bang", "What are you planning to do, Bang? Why did you lead me here?" Despite his confident facade, Leo couldn't help but glance around, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any potential threats.

A glint of excitement flashed in Fourth's eyes as he raised something, pointing it at Leo, who was taken aback by the sight. "A gun? Where did you get that?" he inquired, genuinely surprised.

Fourth glanced down at the gun in his hand, its cold metal reflecting the dim light. It was indeed Bang who found the gun. There were police officials presenting at the campus before the zombie outbreak due to the mysterious student disappearances. Bang stumbled upon one of their bodies and found this gun. Fourth took it from his hoodie's pocket.

Leo's lack of suspicion when the fake "Bang" remained silent was evident as he burst into laughter upon seeing the gun, completely letting his guard down. Wiping tears from his face, he continued to chuckle arrogantly. "You think a gun can hurt me?" he scoffed.

Fourth nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders, his expression silently questioning the opposite's person why a gunshot could not hurt him.

Leo's anger flared up at the mere suggestion that he could be vulnerable. He showcased his prideful attitude, firmly stating, "I'm not a human anymore. I have transcended into a being, far too powerful to be considered a puny, weak human like yourself. I can.."

"BANG!!"

A deafening gunshot reverberated through the ground floor of the under-construction Student Recreation Center, followed by an eerie silence that enveloped the scene. Leo's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked down at the fresh, searing wound on his chest.

"Didn't I just explain that a bullet cannot harm me?" he seethed, the annoyance evident in his voice.

Fourth, though disappointed, once more nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders, a tinge of resignation in his demeanor. 'Well, it was worth a try,' he thought to himself.

Leo's anger surged, and he unleashed his true power, his body transforming as fiery tendrils enveloped him. The wound on his chest began to heal rapidly as his entire being became engulfed in flames. The temperature in the hall soared, causing Bang to step back instinctively.

With his fiery aura intensifying, Leo's rage-filled eyes locked onto "Bang" like a predator stalking its prey. The searing inferno surrounding him distorted his voice as he growled, "It's time for a betrayer like you to meet your doom. I promise you the most agonizing death imaginable."

Fourth's enhanced senses kicked in, he quickly dashed for cover, seeking refuge behind the massive metal rods that supported the building's ground floor during construction. Leo's newfound form seemed to cause him some difficulty, but he persisted, advancing slowly toward Fourth. With a burst of power, he unleashed a scorching fire blast, obliterating the metal rod Fourth had taken cover behind.

But Fourth had expected this to happen, he swiftly moved to hide behind another sturdy metal rod, seemingly heedless of Leo's taunts. Leo couldn't help but feel a spark of amusement in the midst of his fury. "Fine, I will play cat and mouse with you," he declared, his confidence apparent. "It will be more enjoyable this way than merely ending you outright."

The fire blasts had transformed the surroundings into a battlefield of elemental fury. Each explosion sent shockwaves rippling through the area, leaving behind trails of destruction. The walls of the building began to crack, and the ceiling above them seemed to buckle under the relentless assault, lacking the support it once had during construction.

As Leo's inferno blazed around him, he caught sight of the crumbling structure but paid it no heed. The falling debris held no threat for him in his current state. His relentless pursuit of Bang was driven by a thirst for revenge and a desire to make his betrayer suffer.

Fourth, however, saw the crumbling building as an opportunity. A small smile played across his lips as he darted behind yet another metal rod. He knew that if he could endure Leo's onslaught just a little longer, the environment would work in his favor according to what he and his friends had planned.

After fifteen minutes of relentless pursuit, Fourth realized he could no longer keep up the frantic run as he had run out of places to hide. He made a bold decision and raised his hands in front of him, showing a sign of surrender. To his relief, Leo halted his fiery assault, his face contorted with an evil grin that made him appear like a demon risen from the depths of hell.

A mischievous smile played on Fourth's lips as he pulled down the hoodie, revealing a face that could only be described as majestic and captivating. Every feature seemed to be sculpted with perfection, from his perfect jawline to his mesmerizing, expressive eyes that held a hint of mystery. His dark hair was neatly styled in a short, chic fashion, adding a touch of sophistication to his overall appearance.

"My name is Fourth," he said with a melodious voice that seemed to resonate through the very air around them. "Bang's friend, for your reference."

Leo couldn't help but be completely in awe of the angelic figure before him. It was the first time he had encountered someone who possessed not just unparalleled handsomeness, but a unique blend of cuteness and grace that was truly captivating. The space around them seemed to fade away as Leo's attention became fixated solely on Fourth, his desire to capture this ethereal being from heaven becoming evident on his face.

Fourth noticed Leo's intense stare, and the way he seemed to crave him like a forbidden desire. This realization sent a shiver down Fourth's spine, and he couldn't help but recall Bang's warning about Leo's peculiar fascination with pretty boys.

"BANG!"

A loud gunshot echoed in the room. Fourth shot another bullet right at Leo's forehead. He hoped that would deter that creep from imagining lewd things about him.

"Hey, idiot. I'm talking to you. Snap out of it."

Leo surely snapped out it with a gunshot right into his forehead like that. However, he was not angry, even for a little bit. With a smile, he asked Fourth as the flames imbuing his body started to heal the wound.

"Your name is Fourth. How come I have never seen you before?" Leo inquired curiously, seemingly undisturbed by the previous confrontation.

"Does that even matter?" Fourth responded, showing a hint of annoyance as he struggled to comprehend the other person's stupid behaviors. "Do you realize that the fact I disguised myself as Bang means I've tricked you and lured you into a trap?"

"A trap?" Leo chuckled, seemingly unperturbed. "To meet a beautiful angel like yourself, being lured here is a price I'm willing to pay."

Fourth couldn't help but roll his eyes at Leo's response, attempting to resist the temptation to give the creepy man another gunshot. The situation now reminded him of a conversation he had earlier with Bang, discussing Gemini's possessiveness. In that moment, he found himself wondering how his boyfriend would have reacted if he were present right now.

"Let's get back to the main point," He steered the topic back to the main issue and asked. "Are you not scared at all?"

"Why should I be scared?" Bang replied with unwavering confidence. "Nothing can hurt me."

"Is it because of the flame surrounding your body? It constantly heals you, doesn't it?" Fourth recalled Bang mentioning this when they were making plans to deal with Leo.

"Oh, so Bang told you that," Leo smirked as his secret was revealed. "Tell me, how do you plan to hurt me now that you know?"

"Bang also told me that you're extremely cautious and avoid going near bodies of water during your trips outside the camp," Fourth continued. He noticed Leo's smile fading for the first time. "You're afraid of water, aren't you? It can extinguish your flame."

Leo paused briefly, his composure wavering for just a moment. "Well, in theory, water could be a threat," he acknowledged, his mind racing with hidden, sinister ideas. "But let's be realistic; we're inside a building, far from any significant bodies of water." His lips curved into a sly smile, revealing his unsettling thoughts. "Now, enough with the struggling. Follow me and be my toy. I can offer you a position of great authority in my camp, second only to me."

"Stop talking nonsense!" Fourth's annoyance with Leo reached its boiling point. He could feel his patience wearing thin as Leo continued to pester him. "There is truly a large body of water here."

"What?" Leo asked, his arrogance faltering for the first time.

"You may not be familiar with this place, but every student know about it," Fourth stated with a confident tone. "The second floor of the Student Recreation Center is home to an indoor swimming pool. My friends, Mark and Prom, have been working diligently. They've weakened the bottom of the pool, just for this special occasion."

Leo's face turned from confusion to a mixture of uncertainty and fear. "You're bluffing,"

But Fourth wasn't bluffing. With a smirk, he raised the gun once more, firing a shot directly at the ceiling right above Leo. The impact of the bullet, combined with the previous destruction caused by Leo's fire blasts, proved to be too much for the weakened structure to bear.

With a deafening crash, the ceiling above them ruptured, and water started pouring down like a massive waterfall. Leo's eyes widened in shock as he realized what was happening. Panic and fear surged through him as he saw the water descending towards him, extinguishing the flames that had given him his power and protection.

"No! This can't be happening!" Leo shouted, his confidence now replaced with desperation.

Meanwhile, Fourth stood at a safe distance, his unique power forming an impenetrable shield that kept him completely insulated from the falling water. Observing Leo's desperate struggle, a smile showed up on his face, knowing that his enemy's downfall was imminent. With each passing second, Leo's flames diminished further until they were extinguished entirely.

Seizing the opportune moment, Fourth raised his gun with steady hands and began firing with calculated precision.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"

The sharp echoes of the gunshots reverberated through the room, and each bullet found its mark in vital parts of Leo's body. With a slow and agonizing descent, Leo collapsed to the ground, his eyes reflecting disbelief that his once-powerful life could come to such an abrupt and humbling end.

Seeing Leo's body falling down, Fourth started his plan to get away from the crumbling building. As he made his way to the second floor, the sense of relief washed over him. Finally, he could bring an end to this perilous situation and reunite with everyone.

He wished to see Gemini, whom he had been separated from for far too long. He hadn't dared to try to go and see his boyfriend as he couldn't bear the thought of endangering Gemini's well-being by attracting Leo's men to his location, especially since the last time they were together, Gemini still lay unconscious.

However, his moment of triumph was short-lived as an eerie feeling crept up his spine. His instincts kicked in, and without hesitation, he activated his enhanced senses, narrowly avoiding a sudden blast of scorching fire that erupted from behind him.

The force of the explosion sent him tumbling across the room, crashing into a wall. His body ached from the impact, but his powers had protected him from any severe injuries. As he slowly regained his footing, he turned to see the source of the attack. To his shock, Leo was still alive, but something had drastically changed.

Leo's body seemed to be consumed by flames, but it was not the same controlled and tamed fire he had wielded before. It was an unstable, grotesque blaze that engulfed him like a burning, chaotic aura. His features were now twisted and charred, transforming him into something akin to a fiery zombie. He appeared to prolong his demise, utilizing both his body and soul as the blazing fuel for the wildfire.

Fourth knew immediately that this was an alarming escalation. The fire blast he had just experienced was far more potent than any of Leo's previous ones. Recognizing the futility of confronting a person who seemed destined to die and fought with a ferocity out of desperation, Fourth made the wise decision to escape instead.

Yet, Leo was relentless, his corrupted and buring soul propelling him forward like a crazed beast with only one objective. "You come with me," he growled, his voice laced with madness and sorrow. "We can die together."

Fourth huffed, his brows furrowing as he created a barrier to fend off Leo's relentless assault. "What's wrong with you?" he retorted, his voice tinged with irritation. "Just let go and accept your fate."

"You come with me," Leo persisted, relentlessly attacking the barrier until it began to crack. "So we can be together."

"For your information, I've already had a boyfriend!" Fourth mustered all his strength and focused his power, sending a powerful blast against Leo's relentless onslaught. The impact resulted in a massive explosion, sending both of them flying backward.

As Fourth was thrown back, annoyance flickered within him. He closed his eyes, tempted to unleash his true power to defeat Leo, even though he knew it could come at a great cost. But just as he prepared himself, he felt a warm and familiar sensation enveloping his back, stopping his collision.

Fourth quickly opened his eyes, and his heart skipped a beat when he looked up. His voice caught in his throat as overwhelming emotions washed over him. "Gemini?"

"I'm here now. Sorry for taking so long," Gemini, his beloved boyfriend, spoke with heartfelt concern. His hand tenderly brushed against Fourth's cheek, sending a comforting shiver down his spine. A warm smile adorned Gemini's face as he placed a soft, reassuring kiss on Fourth's forehead, making him feel cherished and safe. "Rest now. I'll take care of the rest."

----Whew! That was a long chapter, but I hope everyone likes it. Importantly, Gemini and Fourth are finally together again! 🥳🥳----
