Ruby woke up in his dorm room as Hessonite was getting ready. "Hey Ruby, ready for today, Pink Diamond is teaching us about fusion, so amazing" Hessonite put on his glasses and headed for the cafeteria.
Sapphire got ready for school in her regular uniform of a long sleeved dark blue shirt, black skirt and blue slip ons. "Sapphire, you're awake, I got you an omelet" Sapphire's roommate Bismuth got back from the cafeteria carrying an omelet. "Hello Bismuth, I have your morning vision, you... will spill your mocha" Sapphire gave her friend a vision of bad fortune. "Thanks Sapphire, I'll see you in class" Bismuth left for Pink Diamond's classroom as Sapphire ate her omelet.
Later in class, Ruby and Sapphire sat in their desks next to each other. "Morning class, I have a coarse prepared for you, today we will be learning about fusion, fusion is when two gems who have a strong bond and soon become one" Pink Diamond explained. "First up, Ruby, Sapphire, you two can demonstrate since compared to every other student, you two have the strongest bond".
"How do you think this'll go Sapphire?" Ruby asked his girlfriend. "I don't wanna spoil it for you like I did when we went to the movies" Sapphire answered.
-Flashback-
"Oh Tektite, I'll never lie again" a character from Ruby's favorite movie franchise, Live in Shards, said to her boyfriend. "Not true, they break up in the end because she lied" Sapphire blurted out. "Boo!!!" Every other gem said. "Sorry" Ruby admitted.

"Uh huh, that's how it went down" Ruby explained. "C'mon Ruby, please do it, I want you two to take your relationship to the next level" Tourmaline looked excited for the couple. "Ok, ready baby" Ruby said. "Tee hee" Sapphire giggled.  The two had done a littke dance as their gems began to glow, they came together and made a fusion.
"Wow, I can't believe it" She said as she looked at herself. She was a fusion with blue and pink hair, an outfit with pink on the left side and blue on the right side with a black skirt and shorts, pink and blue slip ons, and had three eyes, a red one, a blue one and a purple one. 
"Hehehe, this is why I didn't spoil it Ruby, I didn't want to ruin the surprise" Sapphire's half of the fusion explained. "This is why you are my bae!!!" Ruby's half cheered. "Ruby, Sapphire, since you fused so perfectly, I'll assign you a report on what it's like to be a fusion, you half to stay a fusion, separate and you will fail" Pink Diamond told the two.
Later on, Ruby and Sapphire's fusion, now called Rubyphire, was headed to lunch as Jasper, a orang haired girl from Yellow Diamond's class, was bullying her classmate Moonstone. "Gimmw your lunch money!" She screamed. "O-ok Jasper, take it" Moonstone cried, dropping her money as she ran to the corner. "Jasper!!! Stop bullying that gem!!!" Ruby's half shouted. "Oh c'mon, her family is rich, I'll have enough money to fill my room with pudding cups, wait a minute, you're not Ruby" she explained. "I'm better than Ruby, I'm Rubyphire" the fusion power has if she was in an action movie. "Cheap! Just cheap, fusion is a thing gems do when they're defenseless, fight me one on one you chicken!" Jasper taunted Ruby, but she didn't want to fail.
"Ruby, you're letting this get to your head, stop before we get in trouble" Sapphire's half tried to calm Ruby down, but the fusion ended up punching Jasper into the wall, having them get caught by Headmistress White Diamond.
"Now this is bad, bullying a student, I'd expect that from Ruby, but Sapphire, you did absolutely nothing about it,  I thought you were better" the gem scolded the two, especially Sapphire who had never done anything bad before. "I expect to see you two after school, since you both have 3 hours of detention!!!!!!"
After Rubyphire left the Headmistress' Office, she kept quiet, eating her lunch in silence with the others. "Ruby, Sapphire, are you ok?" Spinel asked, concerned about the two. "You ruined my life Ruby!!! I told you to calm down and now I got my first detention because of your stupid temper!!!!!" Sapphire's half yelled. "Well I thought you cared about me!!! But I was wrong!! You should have known about my hate for Jasper or you should of used that vision of yours!!!!!!" Ruby's half yelled back. "Grrrr!!!" The fusion screamed, going on a rampage, with fire and ice everywhere as Blue Diamond entered the cafeteria.
"Don't hurt me Blue Diamond, it's just...." Rubyphire said as Blue Diamond covered the fusion's mouth. "I understand, I asked White if I could counsel you instead of a detention" Blue explained. "What?!?!?" Rubyphire screamed. "Meet me in the quad after school" Blue said as she left.
After school, Rubyphire headed to the Quad as Blue Diamond was waiting for them. "Time for some mindful education" Blue breathed.

"Thanks Blue Diamond" Rubyphire cheered as she ran off happily. "I'm so proud of those two" Blue said as she shed a tear. "My diamond, they remind me of us" Blue Diamond's Pearl whispered.
The next day, Ruby and Sapphire shared their report with the class. "Three things, according to Blue Diamond, are key in fusion,  flexibility, love and trust" Ruby explained. "And after a big moment, you have to calm yourself down, together" Sapphire finished. "Yaaay!!!" Everyone applauded the two as Pink Diamond gave them an A+. "Yes!!" The couple cheered in unison.
