Another Sun Girl

It was nice and bright out. Pleasantly bright. You can get lost just looking at the pale blue sky and handful of puffs known as cumulus clouds of that day.

Aaron quickly made his way out of his room, down the stairs, out of his house to meet with a nautical genius of his caliber.

"What are you doing here?" Aaron asked as he shut the front door behind him.

"Don't be stupid, Aaron." Carmen said.

"I do it every school day." Aaron answered. Carmen remained quiet, with absolutely no comeback whatsoever.

"Anyway, now that your here, I need to ask you something." Carmen said. Aaron stood pensive, tapping his foot while putting his hands in his pockets. He leaned his back on the juniper tree in his front yard, retreating to the shade.

"Go ahead. Ask." Aaron said.

"Do you like me at all?" Carmen asked. Aaron was truly taken aback, but he was a genius. He had to show little to no weakness.

"Of course I do." Aaron answered, seeing if she would take the bait. But, surprisingly, she laughs in reaction. But, it's not the same way you'd laugh at a sitcom on TV or a bad pun. It's the laugh of actual humor. She didn't fall for the obvious trap.

"Aaron, let me explain something. Even in your language, so you'll understand easier." Carmen said smugly.

"Do your worst." Aaron said, accepting the inevitable challenge. He hoped that the rest was downhill from here.

"Even for fate, the equation for love is incalculable. Love doesn't need a reason because the answer is in the heart. Worrying, hesitating, just stop thinking. Keep writing and erasing. Have a simulation of you in my mind. You're unable to be predicted. How's this? Like this? If you would only act like my calculations! You pretend to be normal, but it's unfair. You have a beautiful future. And, if you acted smart, heightened expectations. What shall I use for the coefficient? Your feelings are the unknown variable. And, I want the formula to solve for u." Carmen explained. Aaron sighed at the math references, then looked at Carmen.

"Seriously?" he asked her.

"That's right, Aaron. And you can't do anything about it. Because I really am in love with you." Carmen said. Aaron kept leaning on the juniper tree as Carmen stood in front of him. His red-brown hair blew with the wind as he kept his eyes closed. He was thinking. Trying to solve a problem with a complex solution required little imagination.

"Sorry, Carmen." Aaron started.

"I knew this would happen. Hurry up, reject me." she snapped.

"Well, if you insist..." Aaron said, trying to take he offer.

"You know what I mean, Aaron! You're an idiot. We've known each other for well over ten years! I just waited in he shadow of my genius and your dumbed down attitude. I'm done! Finished! Do you like me or not?!" she shouted.

"....." Aaron said, still thinking.

"Aaron, answer! This is a critical point of the metaphorical story! If you're smart, you can see the ending!" Carmen shouted.

"Logically, I have two choices." Aaron said.

"Idiot! Love has no logic!" Carmen shouted.

"As I was saying, there are two options. The truth or a believable lie." Aaron said.

"Isn't it supposed to be 'the unbelievable truth or a believable lie'?" Carmen interrupted.

"That's correct." Aaron said.

"Then, why don't you use it?!" Carmen shouted.

"You know, you've got a sharp tongue, Carmen. I applaud your apparent wits." Aaron said smugly.

"Aaron, you're changing the subject." Carmen saod. Aaron sighed as he accidentally tried to do that.

"Yes, that was an accident." Aaron said. Carmen impulsively punched him in the arm. As Aaron winced, he looked at Carmen, who was fuming.

"Aaron, I would like an answer. Do you know how torturous this is?!" Carmen shouted.

"Not especially, no." Aaron said. He looked up into the sky, losing his peace of mind with the sunny day. He made his mind up, and the answer was simple.

"Carmen. There are two choices. The first choice hurts me and you. The second hurts you and me. So, there is but one solution," Aaron started, "I will choose the path that's clear. I will choose freewill."

"Freewill?" Carmen asked.

"For you, Carmen, I choose not to choose." Aaron says.

"Which in turn, is still making a choice." Carmen sighed. Aaron stood up, and did the most rash thing he had ever done.

"I'm not really sorry." he said. He then grabbed Carmen's chest area.

"Aaron, what, what are you doing?!" she shouted.

"I was hoping to get laid." he said. Carmen wasn't sure of Aaron's sincerity, but she punched him anyway.

"Then I hope this will be enough then." he said, hugging Carmen. She blushed in embarrassment while in Aaron's embrace. He released her, then went back inside to finish his project.

And, in his mind, he knew that trying to grope her would most likely creep her out enough to keep her at bay.

"Next time you get to suck them!" Carmen shouted. Aaron, hearing the statement, quickly locked his room, closed the windows, and resumed his project due next next Monday.
