Chapter 1
Few years later...
The war is over. Kane has ascended after entering a portal at the Scrin tower to activate it, saving Earth. Tiberium has begun to disappear globally, with remnants remaining in red or yellow zones. GDI government must collect these remnants for temporary use. The Brotherhood of Nod vanishes as they follow Kane into the Scrin tower. People believe Kane's ascension proves him to be a true messiah. Reconstruction begins in yellow and red zones, as the world enjoys peace. However, Gideon Nod remains a threat; rumors suggest he escaped Nod imprisonment and is in hiding. GDI takes action to hunt down Nod separatists and bring Gideon to justice.
In the sky, the GST Arc, equipped with cannons and AA guns, supports GDI in eradicating any remaining threats to humanity. The ship boasts a deflector shield, using Scrin technology to counter future threats.
Inside the GST Arc, Jaune, now 49 years old with a yellow beard, wears a military uniform and holds the rank of commander. He walks through the hallway and enters the bridge, where his crew salutes upon his arrival. Jaune opens a communication screen, connecting with Evelyn Rios, the general secretary of GDI.
Rios: Commander Arc, I see that everything is fine here.
Jaune: Well, of course. My men are prepared to fight against Gideon Nod separatists. It's a shame we had to trust Kane to activate a Scrin tower after what he has done.
Rios: I know, but we have no choice. Tiberium has spread rapidly, and we need a solution to eliminate it. We have to trust Kane; he's the only one with an idea to end the Tiberium crisis.
Jaune: Yep. Except for Col. James. She has been delusional since the war and disobeys every order from you. She even tried to send her strike team to capture you.
Rios: But I didn't.
Jaune: I wish I were there to convince her to stop this madness.
Rios: Commander, there's nothing we can do. James has been exposed to war for too long, causing her mind to break down. At least, she's at peace with her family.
Jaune: Yeah...
He prays silently for James's peace and then refocuses on the situation.
Jaune: Anyway, what is it?
Rios: We have intel that there are Nod separatists somewhere in Australia. They have established themselves in an abandoned Nod base, creating something that could change the tide of war. If you have any chance...
Jaune: Understood. I'll go there and deal with those Nod separatists.
Rios: giggle I hope you will, Commander. Evelyn Rios out.
The call ends, and Jaune approaches his friend Mark Havelyn, ordering the ship to set course for Australia. Before setting off, Jaune suggests going for a drink after the mission.
Mark: Ha! Now you're talking. It's been a good time since we had a drink on our day off.
Jaune: Indeed. At least, Tiberium has started to minimize its growth, and the Brotherhood of Nod has disappeared from this world.
Mark: Those guys were really crazy about Kane's religion. If I had joined them, I would have put a bullet in my own head.
Jaune: chuckle Don't think about that, Mark. I know you're too smart to join those guys. Just keep your fighting spirit.
Mark: Aye, aye, Captain.
Jaune then heads to his office to work on the mission paperwork. As he works, his AI, Sara, appears. Sara, a female AI with a casual appearance and long black hair, was created by GDI to assist Jaune. She playfully teases Jaune, who takes it in stride. Jaune finishes his paperwork and takes a sip of coffee before the ship heads to Australia.
Outside the GST Arc, the ship encounters a storm in the sky as they approach Australia. Suddenly, a portal opens within the storm, taking them by surprise. The ship is shaken as it gets pulled into the portal. Jaune rushes to the bridge, where Mark informs him that they cannot escape the portal's pull.
Mark: Sir! We can't move the ship!
Jaune: What!
Mark: The portal is sucking us in like a magnet.
Sara appears as a hologram, confirming their inability to escape.
Sara: Commander, I tried to boost the rocket to escape, but the portal is still pulling us in.
Jaune: Damn it. Everyone, brace for impact!
The crew grabs onto whatever they can as the GST Arc is pulled into the portal. Once fully swallowed, the portal closes, and the dark clouds vanish.
...
In the unknown space, a portal appeared, and the ship emerged from it before the portal disappeared without a trace. The crew stood up, checking for casualties. Jaune and Mark also stood up to ensure everyone was okay.
Jaune: Mark, you alright?
Mark: Yeah. I'm fi-
He didn't finish his sentence, shocked to see Jaune in a different state. Everyone, including Sara, was surprised to see Jaune looking much younger. Jaune, however, was confused about their shocked reactions.
Jaune: What?
GDI Male Crew: Uh...
Sara: Maybe you should look at yourself.
He approached a screen and saw his reflection showing a much younger version of himself. His eyes widened in surprise. He looked at Sara and asked,
Jaune: Sara, what is happening to me?
Sara: I-It's probably the portal that affected you, altering your age.
Mark: Okay... But why didn't the rest of us get our ages altered, only our commander?
Sara: That is unknown to me. I have no idea how he became so young.
Jaune: I don't know. For now, we must focus on what is going on and figure out where the hell we are.
Sara: Well, according to my programming, I think we're in space.
They were surprised that the portal had led them to space. She continued,
Sara: I also detected a planet and a shattered moon for some reason.
Jaune: Wait. Did you say a shattered moon?
Sara: Yes. Why?
Hearing her words, he remembered that the shattered moon was part of the Remnant world, where he belonged. He went to the computer and patched it onto the screen, revealing a planet similar to Earth and a shattered moon above.
Jaune: Oh my god...
Mark and the entire crew saw on the screen, surprised at their reactions. Jaune, however, seemed angry, remembering how he was neglected by the people of Beacon Academy, except for his friends who understood why he attended with the fake transcript. Well, except for Weiss, who wasn't happy about it. Anyway, Mark said to his best friend,
Mark: Jaune, do you know where we are?
Jaune: Yes...
Mark and the crew listened closely as Jaune spoke in a serious tone,
Jaune: That world... is called Remnant... My home planet.
There was a moment of silence in the room until everyone spoke out loudly.
All GDI Crew: . . . . . . . . WHAT!?
Mark & Sara: What!?
Jaune: Yes. I live on that planet. But anyway, check everyone on this ship. I want to hear if everyone is okay.
Sara: Y-Yes sir...
She disappeared to check if the crew was alright. When she came back, she said,
Sara: Everyone on this ship is okay, sir. No casualties.
Jaune: Good...
The relief washed over them that the portal hadn't caused any harm to his crew. Mark said to him,
Mark: So... Can you explain to us how you know about this world?
Jaune sighed and was ready to explain to him and the crew. He began telling them about the world known as Remnant, controlled by four kingdoms: Vale, Vacuo, Atlas, and Mistral. He explained about the monsters known as Grimms lurking around, the use of aura as a shield, and semblance, which grants individuals superpowers akin to huntsmen. He spoke about the huntsmen academies teaching children to become huntsmen and huntresses. He also explained the discrimination against Faunus, who had animal traits, leading some to join the White Fang, a group that started peacefully but turned violent later. Jaune also detailed the Schnee Dust Company's exploitation of Faunus as slave labor and the broken moon over Remnant.
GDI Male Crew 1: Those bastards!
GDI Male Crew 2: They treat Faunus like animals, and Atlas didn't do anything!
GDI Female Crew 1: The White Fang is like the Brotherhood of Nod.
Sara: I agree with you, girl. This is unacceptable. They don't deserve this cruelty.
Mark: That Jacque guy will be sent to court for his crimes, plus for being racist.
GDI Male Crew 3: Let's not forget about Grimms. They're like the Scrin but without knowledge and technology.
Jaune: Yes. But there are some humans who really care for Faunus, so calm down.
They calmed down before the situation escalated. Mark said to him,
Mark: Sir, will you tell us how you ended up in our world?
He explained his lifetime in Remnant, becoming a hero, creating a fake transcript to prove himself, attending Beacon Academy, being neglected and disowned, saving villagers from Grimm invasion, fleeing to the forest, getting sucked into a portal, and appearing on Earth. After telling his story, everyone was shocked and felt sorry for him. Mark clenched his fists, expressing anger toward Jaune's father for disowning him, while Sara covered her mouth, shocked by Jaune's experiences. The crew showed pity and anger toward those who neglected him, especially his own father.
Sara: I feel sorry for you, sir.
Jaune: It's okay, Sara.
Sara: No! It's not okay! You've been through hell because of those people, especially your own father.
Mark: I agree with her; you don't deserve to be neglected, sir. You have good potential and good strategy. You led us to battle against Nod, the Scrin, and Nod separatists. You led us to victory, Jaune. Not just because you're a commander, but as a friend, I will fight with you until the end.
Sara: Me too.
GDI Male Crew 1: Me too.
GDI Female Crew 1: Me too.
Everyone showed him that they were willing to fight for him until the end. Jaune was surprised to see his crew ready to fight for him, seeing them as his own family. He smiled and said,
Jaune: Thank you. All of you.
Sara: It's what GDI does, do you not?
Jaune: Hehehe... You got me there.
Sara was happy to see him smiling. He then turned to a serious expression and said,
Jaune: Alright, enough about that. We have work to do. We are stranded here with no communication to reach them. But we will survive as long as we live. Our first priority is getting back to Earth. Our second priority is to survive in Remnant. We will colonize an island that hasn't been claimed by other kingdoms, and I know where it is. Sara, show me a map.
She turned on the computer and displayed an image of the map. It targeted an uncolonized island shaped like a dragon, located between Atlas and Vacuo. He pointed at that uncolonized island.
Jaune: That one. That's where we're headed. A place with a low profile from other kingdoms. Now, my first order is to set up the base there, clear out the Grimms, and establish our own home. Let's get to work. Oorah?
All GDI crews: Oorah!!!
He left the bridge room to suit up and lead his troops to Remnant.
