Part Three

That evening...

Osomatsu and all of his brothers sat down at a table for six, simultaneously opening up their menus to see what there was to eat. The restaurant was picked by Todomatsu, and for some reason everyone thought it was a great idea to agree.

Karamatsu stood up from the table the moment a waitress passed by, giving all the brothers tall glass of water.

Osomatsu grabbed Karamatsu by the sleeve of his old, blue hoodie, whispering into his ear, "Where are you going?"

"Bathroom," Karamatsu replied as Osomatsu let go of him. "I'll be back in just a second. If not, order the tempura for me. Todomatsu said that's really good."

"Sure thing," Osomatsu whispered back, turning to focus on his menu.

"Say," Choromatsu began, swirling the plastic straw around in his glass of water, just for the pleasure of hearing the ice cubes crash against each other. "What did you have to ask Karamatsu?"

Ichimatsu looked down and sighed loudly. "Why does it matter to you?"

"We don't keep secrets here, remember?" Todomatsu lightly elbowed Ichimatsu.

"Tell us! Tell us!" Jyushimatsu pounded his fists on the table excitedly.

"I don't see what the big deal is," Osomatsu sighed, slamming his menu shut. "We're all adults. Who cares what Ichimatsu had to say?"

"You two are on bad terms today, aren't you?" Choromatsu laughed a little nervously. "Osomatsu, we still live together, so we're technically not real adults. Karamatsu should be the only one allowed to keep secrets. That being said, Ichimatsu, tell us."

"I asked him if he was really okay, you know. Stuff like that. He had some sort of dark aura that was starting to bother me..." Ichimatsu mumbled. "That's all."

"Like you care," Osomatsu thought, slouching down a little. "You're just a fragile, self-centered boy. You can't truly understand how Karamatsu might feel. I was close to him growing up! I should be the one asking him those kinds of questions!"

Several minutes later...

Seeing that Karamatsu hadn't come back, Osomatsu ordered two plays of tempura (one for him, and the other for Karamatsu), then got up to "use the toilet".

"Something really can't be right," Osomatsu thought anxiously. "It's been nearly twenty minutes an nobody even noticed that he's been gone that long. I guess we were enjoying ourselves...? Karamatsu isn't okay, is he? Surely he's just..."

Osomatsu pushed open the men's bathroom door, greeted by pools of blood and vomit, which thickly coated the tile floor.

Then, in the corner by a sink, lay Karamatsu, retching and gasping for breath. The water the the sink above him was still running, but there were specks of blood splattered all over the mirror.

"KARAMATSU!" Osomatsu yelled frantically. "What's wrong? Are you sick? What happened in here? Do I need to get everyone else?"

Karamatsu looked up at Osomatsu, his lips as white as snow, and his eyes appeared to be nearly sunken in.

Reaching out one of his hands, which was trembling, Karamatsu tried to grab ahold of the sink to pull himself back up.

"Stay still," Osomatsu ordered firmly. "I'm getting Todomatsu's phone. "Don't move anywhere. Everything is..."

"Everything is going to be okay," Osomatsu thought, though he couldn't manage to speak those words to his dear brother. "The last time I said those words to him, he nearly died...It's my fault that he's so traumatized over some things to this very day.."

Osomatsu literally threw himself out of the bathroom, dashing towards Todomatsu like a madman.

"Give me your phone," Osomatsu chokes. "Call the ambulance. Do something! I don't know what wrong with Karamatsu right now. There's blood. Blood and vomit. EVERYWHERE! I just- I can't...I'm not..."

Osomatsu fainted. Just like that. One seconds all was well, the next, he heard the sirens of an ambulance and found himself on a stretcher next to Karamatsu.

Karamatsu looked over weakly at Osomatsu, tears running down his cheeks.

"There's something I haven't been telling you," Karamatsu choked, then lost consciousness.
