okay so my Mouth Problems (it automatically went caps oops) aren't like disease or anything??????? it's problems that........ can only be maintained and not really fixed????

first I have a VERY SEVERE tmj, which means that my jaw makes a loud pop (a click is what the orthodontist called it) when I open/close my mouth widely,, it's been like this since I was little but it doesn't normally happen until later in life for the large majority of the population?????

between the upper jaw and the lower jaw (where the hinge is), there's a little pocket of fluid (the meniscus) to protect the bones from scraping each other, and if u hear popping/clicking LOUDLY then that means your meniscus has worn away, which happens to most people later in life because their jaw moves like 100% of the time

I'm 14?????? but apparently I have no meniscus so my jaw bones are scraping on each other every time I open my mouth basically

so if it's a problem with me grinding my teeth while I sleep, I get to wear a "splint" in my mouth for my life while I sleep,,, I think it's smth like wrestlers or boxers wear?????? but idk

but my orthodontist was VERY ALARMED!!!!!! when I told her that sometimes my jaw locks up (not that much anymore tho,,,,) (like she says in her sweet li'l Indian accent "do you experience lockjaw?" and I'm like "ye sometimes" and she looks at me and goes "YOU DO????" like really surprised like pls calm down it's,,, okay)

also I apparently have a SEVERE OVERBITE but braces will fix those (I'll get rubber bands :))))))))))))) n they said they'd probably pull my two top pre-molars out to move the rest of my teeth back,,, it was either that or literally breaking my jaw and placing it differently in surgery n I prefer taking teeth out (but I won't have to make a decision till I'm older, like 18 or 19)

I also have wisdom teeth and both of my parents had Bad Wisdom Teeth Experiences so I can't wait (my dad literally pulled a shard of bone/tooth out of his face and my mom's got infected or smth and wasn't pleasant at all)

my sister was SO MUCH LUCKIER on the mouth front!!! she has no wisdom teeth and her smile doesn't need like any straightening

she was pissed bc she WASN'T getting braces?????????? like okay take mine lmaooooo
