Getting Political

Let's talk about my birth country. My home country. The "land of the free, and the home of the brave." You guessed it. The USA.

"Spork," you may be asking, "what does this have to do with gay?"

A lot, my nonexistent reader. A lot.

You see, in the year of our Lord, 2016, on the eighth of November, Donald Trump was elected president. Now, I'm not going to talk very much about Trump. No, I'd prefer to express my feelings on his Vice President. Mike Pence. Oh, Michael. The former governor of my state, and now the Vice President of my country. I met Michael once. He visited my elementary school.

Michael Richard Pence is vocally homophobic. Michael Richard Pence signed and helped pass multiple "religious protection" and anti gay laws while he was in Congress. Michael Richard Pence is sexist, just like Donald James Trump.

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell," barred openly gay people from serving in the military; his opposition to hate crime protections for transgender individuals; and a statement on his 2000 campaign website that appeared to endorse federal funding for the controversial practice of "conversion therapy."

What the actual fuck?? I guess my expectations were high after Barack Obama's presidency, but I didn't think my country would elect a pair of sexist, homophobic, racist, xenophobic shitbags into the highest two spots in office.
