Volume 1, Ch 9: Back to Hà Nội

A/N: I don't own anything. Credits go to USTrooper.

Enjoy!

*continuing on from the previous episode

Kuribayashi: Somebody's crazy enough to marry the Captain?

Me (whispering): Yeah, and she's an otaku as well.

Risa: Who are you calling crazy?

Kuribayashi: You! That's who! But this is a pairing I can totally see happening!

Me (muttering): Cái đ*t con mẹ......

*insert opening theme

Risa then turns on the lights to her apartment while everyone gets situated to their surroundings. Rory is staring at some dolls and is freaked out.

Rory: H-Hardy is here too!

Lelei is amazed at the amount of books (ahem more like comics) there are while Pina and Bozes are already checking out 1 book from the drawer.

Lelei: Books...books everywhere.

Pina (looking at a book): These are books, too? I never seen ones this thin!

Bozes: Indeed.

Tomita looks out the window to spot for any intruders while Itami is getting her in the situation.

Itami: So that is the situation.

Risa: I understand what's going on, but why? Why would you drag me into something so dangerous?

Tomita: She's right. She may be your ex-wife, but she's still a civilian.

Me: And I'm having a bad feeling that the Chinese MSS are on our a*sses.

Tomita: Why sir?

Me: It's simple really. If you think about it, it shouldn't be too hard.

Tomita: Is it because you're Vietnamese?

Me: Exactly. We hate 'em, they hate us. And for I know, once we get to Hà Nội, be cautious of our surroundings. If you don't know the back alleys well, you might get ambushed.

Itami: Noted.

Tomita: Plus, should we have really dumped Komakado-san like that?

Itami: Well, after all that happened, isn't Komakado-san making himself more suspicious?

Tomita: You think he's leaking information?

Me: No, more like external sources. Like what I said earlier about the Chinese MSS.

Itami: I wouldn't go that far Tomita and Lê, but maybe the people around him were.

Tomita: Were we being tailed, maybe?

Me: That would make a whole lot of sense if something like that were to happen.

Itami: If something happens without him, then yeah, we were being tailed. If not, then he was the cause.

Risa rises her hand.

Risa: Um...I don't want anything to happen here. Tomorrow's my deadline!

Me: Anyways, you all should get some sleep. Big flight to catch tomorrow.

Everyone except Tomita, me, and Risa get going to sleep.

Tomita: You're not sleepy sir.

Me (pulls out my laptop): No, I have to get some work done for Bộ Tư Lệnh. Otherwise they will probably yell at me tomorrow.

Tomita: Okay sir. (to Risa) Risa-san?

Risa: Hm?

Tomita: You're Lieutenant Itami's wife, right?

Risa: Ex-wife. Now we're friends I guess.

Tomita: Can you really get back to being friends after a divorce?

Me: In the case of them, yeah.

Risa: I don't know how it works with others. But...we didn't split up because we were fighting. And we were different from your usual couple. As a pair of weirdos, our current relationship actually suits us better.

Tomita: I see..

Risa: So you acknowledge us as weirdos huh?

Tomita: That wasn't what I- (sighs) Anyways how does Lieutenant Lê know you?

Me (while working): Needed a place to drop by when I was on US Marine business here in Japan and since I knew Itami, he just guided my to Risa's place.

Risa: You were also drunk. Look like you couldn't handle sake as much as Itami. (she giggles)

Me: Well, I'm not Japanese, so that's my excuse.

Risa: Yeah...typical Vietnamese person. Plus, you were topless at that time.

Me: Vietnamese habit of mine whenever something is too hot. And you were feeling up my body and being crazy as well!

Risa: That didn't happen!

Me: Well it did, so don't even argue with me.

Risa: Fine...

Me: Okay that's enough for now. Tomita, get some sleep, or you'll get massive jet lag tomorrow.

Tomita: But sir-

Me: Just do it. I got work to do anyways.

Tomita: Yes sir.

When Tomita goes to sleep, I continuing working on my report for the 401st Battalion command. To see the least it was a pretty long one. Risa commented on that.

Risa (looking over): Wow...that's pretty long. And it's a language I don't understand.

Me: Yeah, it is pretty long. Guess that's what happens when you hear the words Bô Tư Lệnh all the time. (I sigh)

Risa: You look tired, you should get some sleep.

Me (yawning): Yeah I shoul-

My phone then rings and I see who the caller is. It's Ngô Xuân Lịch (the Vietnamese defense minister).

Me: Sorry, I got to take this call.

I walk out into the entry way to take the call. What I didn't notice that I will learn later is that Kuribayashi was still not asleep and eavesdropping. Not that I minded of course.

Me: Alo? Đại Tướng ạ? (Hello? General sir?)

Lịch: Ư, Đại Tướng đây. (Yes, the General is here.)

Me: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

Lịch: ....Cháu có khóe không? (Son, are you doing well?)

Me: Dạ cháu có ạ. (Yes, I am doing well, sir.)

Lịch: Có vấn để gì không cháu? (Do you have any problems so far?)

Me: Con chì nghĩ vể vấn để vể xê, thước ăn, với nhiếu thư khác ạ. (I was just thinking about the situation of vehicles, food, and lots of other stuff, sir.)

Lịch: Không cân lo gì đâu ha cháu. (No need to worry, son.)

Me: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

Lịch: Thôi, bác chi nói thể thôi, con đi ngủ đi, ngày mai vể nhà rối. (Okay that's enough, tomorrow, you're going back home.)

Me: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

I hang the call after and try to go to sleep.

The next day 0700 hrs.

I wake up early in the morning to find Rory doing her usual prayers. Once everyone gets settled, Itami plans the 5 hours till our flight.

Itami: Okay! We're going to have fun today!

Kuribayashi: Huh? We've got bigger problems to deal with right now. Plus, we got a flight to catch later.

Itami: Listen! My motto is eat, sleep, and play. Life's the little things you do in between. Anyway, if the enemy knows where we are, anywhere is dangerous.

I check the outside of the apartment for any agents. Phew...no Chinese agents on our a*s.

Itami:..We'd be safer around a lot of people, right?

Me: What are you suggesting?

Risa: Yeah! Yeah! Let's go shopping! Shibuya! Harajuku!

She waves a pocket that is labeled "aid money". Great..

Itami: Why are you...

Risa (to Tuka and Lelei): You all need a lot of things, right?

Kuribayashi: Well we are in Tokyo....

Bozes: Um...

Bozes leans into Tomita's ear to whisper something.

Itami: And I'm going to Akihabara.

Me: Yeah sure...

Itami: Shut up! How about you Lê?

Me: I need to meet up with someone. Before you ask, yes, you can Kuribayashi. Just make it look like we're a couple, but hold off when I'm taking to him.

Kuribayashi (blushing): Yes sir.

Tomita: Bozes-san wants to go the library to research this world's literature.

Itami: Alright then. Risa's group is going shopping, Tomita's group is going to the library, and Lê and Kuribayashi are going on their "date". Sounds like a plan! Just make sure to meet back up here at 1050 hours alright?

Risa: Horray!

A few moments later, Yoyogi Park

Kuribayashi and I were almost to our destination, with us linking our hands together. Then I saw my contact. A man dressed in a trench coat reading a New York Times newspaper.

Me: Kuribayashi, I need you to hold back. I need to talk to him.

Kuribayashi: Yes sir.

I walk up to him.

Me: "The Iconosclast General" they call you sir.

A/N: That's H.R. McMaster by the way.

McMaster: Hey Lieutenant, how you doing?

Me: Good sir.

McMaster: Who's that over there? (points at Kuribayashi)

Me: Sir, that's one of the NCO's under my command.

McMaster: Seems to me that you and her are much more than just that.

Me: Sir, let's try to stay professional. What is it sir?

McMaster: Okay. The Army intel guys at the Pentagon and Fort Benning say that somewhere around 2200 hrs tonight, there will be a Chinese MSS attack on a major Hà Nội street.

Me: Which street?

McMaster: I don't know, but we narrowed it down to 4 streets. Trường Chinh, Nguyễn Trãi, Xã Đàn, and Lê Văn Lương.

Me: 3 streets that you just mentioned are in the same district.

McMaster: Yes, I am aware of that. And it seems that you will be around that district.

Me: Yes sir. But what do they want?

McMaster: Looks they want the "Special Region" residents. They want to use them to gain more evidence of the Special Region. Also, they want to cause as much damage in the enemy's capital when they get the residents.

Me: That would make a whole lot of sense. Will there be any reinforcements I should know about?

McMaster: CIA and the Russian FSB have already been notified of the situation. CIA SOG agents and FSB "Vympel" agents will be deployed near your location and you can lead them from there, but only when the fight has started. In the meantime, you should probably disguise yourself as a Vietnamese police officer.

A/N: I chose the ФСБ (FSB) instead of the СВР РФ (SVR RF) like in the anime because the ФСБ is much more well known than the CBP РФ, and also way more experienced and they're just cooler in general as well. For the ФСБ unit, I chose <Вымпел> (Vympel) because they are less well known and just as capable as their well-known brother unit, <Альфа> (Alpha).

Me: Does Vietnamese intelligence know about this?

McMaster: Yes, they have already been notified. Vietnamese police and local military forces are already on high alert, abide secretly, to not create chaos within the civilian population.

Me: That's good.

McMaster: And that's where you come in. Vietnamese intelligence has requested us that you and what you have of 3rd Recon right now to be embedded with the 2nd Battalion of the Vietnamese Mobile Police Command and to met them later this afternoon.

Me: Great, so we're going to be SWAT operatives for a night or two. (I sigh)

McMaster: Well, that's it for now. Oh and before you go, there's a package I need to give you.

He pointed at the giant package that was next to him.

McMaster (whispering so only I can hear): In there is wine and 4 AAC Honey Badgers. Use the Honey Badgers wisely. Vietnamese command already has ammo for you to restock.

Me: Yes sir. (I salute him)

McMaster: Good luck out there, son. (He salutes back) Dismissed.

I carry the package back to Kuribayashi as we head out the park into a back alley. Surprisingly, it was heavy for 4 PDWs, and I kind of needed some help.

Me: I think I need a bit of help here.

Kuribayashi: What do you need me to carry in the package sir?

Me: I need you to carry this bag (one bag containing the wine, the other with the 4 Honey Badgers and ammo). Here (I give it to her)

Kuribayashi: Wow, this wine is sure heavy.

Me: Probably because there's more than 1 in there.

Kuribayashi: Makes sense. Anyways, should we back before the flight?

Me: Yeah, we should.

Kuribayashi and I walk back to the meeting place, carrying the bags with us.

Back at Risa's apartment, 1045 hours

Once me and Kuribayashi get back, I hear Itami getting ready our plans for the flight.

Itami: Alright, everyone got their suitcases?

Tomita: Yes sir.

Itami: Alright then. Now where is the Lieutenant and Kuribayashi?

Me (carrying the PDW bag): Here.

We lay the bags down on the floor.

Itami: Uh....what's in the bag Lê?

Me (points to one bag): That is a bag of wine. A gift for you guys. (points to the other bag) That I can't tell you yet.

Itami: Okay, makes sense. Wait...what type of wine?

Me: Probably the usual American kind I get back in the States.

Itami: Ah...okay. So, are you ready?

Me (points to my suitcase): Yeah, I'm ready.

Itami: Kuribayashi?

Kuribayashi: Yes sir. I'm ready.

Itami: Alright. Now when is our vehicle going to arrive?

Me (checks my watch): In 6 minutes.

Itami: Okay, anyone need to go to the bathroom beforehand?

Everyone: No.

Itami: Okay th-

I see two 7 seat cars outside the window.

Itami: And that's our signal. Sorry Risa, you can't go on this. Military business.

Risa: I understand. (whispers close to my ear) Take care of Itami will you?

Me: I will.

We then group up outside and split ourselves into 2 groups.

Me: Okay, so here's the plan. Itami, Rory, Lelei, Tuka, and Tomita take the lead vehicle, while Kuribayashi, me, Pina and Bozes take the rear vehicle. Am I clear?

Everyone execpt Itami: Yes sir.

Itami: Very well then. Move to your vehicles.

We then move out and start putting our suitcases in the trunks of our vehicles, with the Chair Force (Air Force) guys driving helping us. Once we got settled, my team went in the rear vehicle. I took the shotgun up front, and Kuribayashi, Bozes, and Pina are in the back seats.

Air Force Sergeant: Sir? Are we ready to move?

I check that Itami's team was already in their vehicle.

Me: Let's go.

Air Force Sergeant: You're going to Yokota Air Base right sir?

Me: Yes, that's our destination, now let's get moving.

Air Force Sergeant: Yes sir.

The Sergeant gets on the radio of the first vehicle, and then we're off.

Yokota Air Base, 35 minutes later

We arrive at the air base 25 minutes before our flight. Phew. I then got out of the vehicle to talk to the Air Force Tech Sergeant about the plans and our flight path.

Air Force Tech Sergeant: Lieutenant sir?

Me: Yes?

Air Force Tech Sergeant: Is that your whole delegation there sir?

Me: Yes, it is.

Air Force Tech Sergeant: And just to be sure, where are you headed?

Me: Gia Lâm Airport. Long Biên District.

Air Force Tech Sergeant (checks his papers): Alright then sir. The paperwork is correct and has been done. You'll be flying in a C5 Galaxy today.

Me: Isn't that a bit too much?

Air Force Tech Sergeant: Well..we've done worse.

Me (chuckles): So....everything is cleared right?

Air Force Tech Sergeant: Everything is cleared and you are ready to takeoff. Just make sure of the pilot though, he can be a douchebag sometimes.

Me: Noted.

Air Force Tech Sergeant: You should go now sir. Wouldn't want to mess your flight. (he salutes me)

Me (I salute back): Thanks for everything.

Air Force Tech Sergeant: You welcome sir.

I walk back to where Itami and the group were standing and lead them to our C5 Galaxy, waiting at a runway.

Pina: Is this another one of their flying pegasuses?

Lelei: No. And it isn't owned by the JSDF, but by the United States Air Force.

Pina: No wonder it has strange markings and a language that I can't read.

Bozes: Your Highness. We are about to board now.

Pina: Yes, Bozes.

Once everyone is on board, Itami does roll call.

Itami: Rory?

Rory: Here.

Itami: Lelei?

Lelei: Here.

Itami: Tuka?

Tuka: Here.

Itami: Pina?

Pina: Here.

Itami: Bozes?

Bozes: Here.

Itami: Tomita?

Tomita: Here sir.

Itami: And Kuribayashi?

Kuribayashi: Here sir.

Itami: Alright, it looks like everyone is here.

Me: Okay then, I've got to go talk to the captain for a second.

I walk up to the pilot and make sure where we're flying and the flight path is in correct order for the 2nd time.

Captain: You going to Gia Lâm, Lieutenant?

Me: Yes sir.

Captain: Why not Nội Bài?

Me: It's a civilian airport sir. Can't really land there.

Captain: Anything else?

Me: No sir.

Captain: Okay then. You can head back to your seat now, I'll take it from here.

Me: Yes sir.

I head back to my seat next, which was next to Kuribayashi.

Kuribayashi: You got everything sorted sir?

Me: Yes, I did. Now let's worry about what's ahead now.

Kuribayashi: Yes sir.

The Captain then gets on the PA system.

Captain (through PA): This is your Captain speaking. For the Japanese personnel, Special Region residents, and of course the Jarhead, we will be taking a non stop flight to Gia Lâm Airport, Hà Nội. Please fasten your seat belts for take off at this time. Thank you for flying with the United States Air Force.

I chuckle at his statement of "Jarhead". At least he didn't call me "crayon eater". When I look to my side, Kuribayashi had already fallen asleep on my shoulder.

Me (whispering): Kuribayashi, as much as I enjoy this, we can't do it in front of other people.

Kuribayashi (sleep talking): I don't care to be honest sir.

Me: Damn, already got me back on that one. (I sigh) Fine, you win.

By the time I'm done, Kuribayashi had already fallen asleep. At this time, I hear the afterburners and when we were in the air, I fell asleep as well, along with most of the group as well. Guess we were tired still after all.

3 hours later, Sản Bay Gia Lâm (Gia Lâm Airport), Quân Long Biên (Long Biên District), Hà Nội

When I woke up, I peeked through the window to see where we are. Since I saw rice fields and some buildings, I knew that we were getting close to Hà Nội. Some of the group were already starting to wake up as well.

Pina: So many fields.

Lelei: I believe they are called "rice fields" according to the Lieutenant.

Pina: And some buildings as well.

Me: That's means were fast approaching our destination.

Itami: So this is Vietnam huh?

Me: Yeah, not as modernized as Japan, but yes, this is what I would call my native home.

Captain (over PA): This is your Captain speaking. We are now about to land at Gia Lâm Airport. Please fasten your seat belts accordingly and we will arrive shortly. Once again, thank you for flying with the United States Air Force.

I then hear the gears coming out as we touched the runway. We then taxied over to a old terminal at the airport. Once we stopped, everyone got up and stretched their arms. The Captain then went out to open the plane door for us and we climbed down the stairs to the ground.

Itami: This place looks deserted.

Me: Yeah, it used to be a civilian airport. Now it's a place for Kamov Ka-28 helicopters to be stored.

It was then that we were greeted by a Vietnamese delegation sent to escort us.

Trung Sĩ (Sergeant) QĐNDVN: Dạ đồng chí là Thượng Úy Lê Văn Minh đúng không? (Sir, are you Lieutenant Lê Văn Minh?)

Me: Đúng rối. (Yes.)

Trung Sĩ: Dạ vâng. Kê hoạch hôm nay là đi trước sang doanh trại ở 152 Trường Chinh. Sâu khi đây là đi nhân phòng khách sạn ở Sky Hotel và đi sang Quốc Hỏi Việt Nam để trính bày hoản cảnh vể Khu Vực Đặc Biêt. À, quên, và đi gặp các đồng chí ở cảnh sát cơ đông. (Yes sir. Today's plan is to go first to the barracks at 152 Trường Chinh street. Then, you are to check into the Sky Hotel near there and then go to the National Assembly to present your findings on the Special Region. Oh, I almost forget. After that you are to go meet up with the comrades at the Mobile Police.)

Me: Được rối. Nhưng có xê đẻ cho đến không? (Okay. But is there vehicles we can take?)

Trung Sĩ: Dạ vâng, có một xê 4 chồ và một xê 7 chổ. Nhưng chi có một người lái xê. (Yes sir. There is a vehicle with 4 seats and a vehicle with 7 seats. But there's only one person to drive one of the vehicles)

Me (I sigh): Trung Sĩ là người một mình đên đây từ Bộ Tư Lệnh để đón mình đúng không? (Sergeant, so you're the only one command sent to pick us up?)

Trung Sĩ: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

Me (I continue to sigh): Thế được rồi. Đồng chí sẽ lại xê 7 chồ còn mình lại xê 4 chồ. (Okay then. Sergeant, you take the 7 seat vehicle while I'll take the 4 seat vehicle.)

Trung Sĩ: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

I turn back to Itami and our group.

Itami: Well? What did he say?

Me: He said that we are going to a lot of places today (I hand Itami a document detailing where we're going). And that there is a 4 seat vehicle and a 7 seat vehicle for our group. Since he is the only one who was told to pick us up, I have to drive the 4 seat vehicle while he drives the 7 seat vehicle.

Kuribayashi: Well that's a shame for you sir.

Me: Well...can't do much about that in this situation can I?

Tomita: You can't sir.

Me: Alright, let's split up into 2 teams again. Kuribayashi, Pina, Bozes and I will be in the 4 seat vehicle, while Tomita, Itami, Rory, Tuka, and Lelei get the 7 seat vehicle.

Itami: That sounds like a plan. Alright, let's do it.

Me: Right.

The Trung Sĩ then shows us our vehicles. The 7 seat vehicle is a Toyota Innova and the 4 seat vehicle is a Toyota Vios. Heh, guess command really likes to give us Toyotas.

Me: Itami, you set up where your team is sitting in the Innova. Kuribayashi?

Kuribayashi: Hm?

Me: You're getting shotgun. While Pina and Bozes, you get the back seats.

Kuribayashi: Yay! Thank you sir.

Me: You're welcome. Now let's get into our vehicle.

My group then heads out to our vehicle. As stated before, I take the driver's seat, Kuribayashi takes the forward passenger seat and Pina and Bozes get the back seats. Before I start the Vios, I take out my phone and pull up Google Maps.

Me (thinking): Guess I still got a lot of streets to learn.

I then wait for Itami's group to get situated while I get the signal to move.

Trung Sĩ: Dạ, mình có thể bát đầu đi được rồi ạ. (Sir, we can begin to go now.)

Me: Ừ, đi trước đi. (Okay, you go first.)

Trung Sĩ: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

The Innova starts to move and go out of the airport while my vehicle leads it from behind.

Me: This is going to be a long day.

30 minutes later, somewhere on Minh Khai street

We were going smoothly just now when there was a huge traffic jam up ahead for no reason.

Pina: So many vehicles.

Kuribayashi: Why is there is much traffic?

Me: It's Hà Nội, what do you expect? For all we know, we could get stuck here for at least another 30 minutes.

Kuribayashi: That's the same time it took from that airport to here!

Me: Yeah, and you just kind of have to accept it.

Pina: I noticed that your country has more of those (points to a motercycle) than Japan. Why is that?

Me: That's because buying a car in Vietnam is expensive. The government tries to make the prices of cars higher so that less people buy cars and left with no choice, have to buy a motorcycle. Though, in recent years, more people have begun buying cars more than motorcycles, so it's pretty much useless now.

Bozes: And it's so hot outside.

Me: That's because we're close to the Equator, meaning that it's still hot here while it's cold in Japan.

We begin to move slowly, as in 100 yards slowly.

Me: Why is there so much traffic at this hour? It's not even time for the students to be picked up.

Then I turn on 91.0 Mhz (Đài Tiếng nói Việt Nam) to hear what's going on.

91.0 (over radio): -ở đường Minh Khai là có một xê tại bị lật độ sang bên phài, và tro các phương tiện có giao thông rất là dại. Hãy chú ý khi di truyền trong đường nay. (Right now on Minh Khai street, there has been a truck that flipped over to its right side and the vehicles passing here are having a long traffic jam. Be careful when passing through this street.)

Me: Oh...so that's why.

Kuribayashi: What sir?

Me: There's been a truck that's flipped over its side and has been creating this traffic jam before we even got here.

Kuribayashi: That would make a lot of sense sir.

Me: Right.

A few moments later, 152 Trường Chinh

After some very long traffic jams, we finally arrive at my Vietnamese base on 152 Trường Chinh.

Me: God damn...

Along the way Kuribayashi had fallen fast asleep, along with Pina and Bozes. I then gently touch her shoulder.

Me (whispering): Kuribayashi, we're here now.

Kuribayashi (yawning): Huh? What took so long?

Me: The traffic. It's always the number 1 reason why we're late.

Kuribayashi: Right sir.

Me: Pina, Bozes, you too.

Pina (yawning): Are we there yet?

Me: We're already here.

As my group gets out of our car, Itami's group stretches their arms when we met them just outside the gate.

Me: Itami, looks like your group had a nice nap. (i chuckle)

Itami (Yawning and stretching): Yeah, they sure did. Now what do we do?

Me: I suppose meet up with the commander and then we head for the hotel.

Itami: Okay then...

I then show my Vietnamese Army ID to the guards and say that the 8 people behind me are with me. The guards then allow us into the compound. We then have our long walk to the commander's building, where we meet up with the commander of the base, a Colonel (Đại tá) greeted us.

Colonel: Chào các đồng chí. (Hello comrades.)

Me: Dạ vâng, chào Đại tá ạ. (Yes sir, hello Colonel sir.) (I salute)

Colonel: Lâu lắm là Thượng úy vể nhà huh? (It's been a long time since you went home huh?)

Me: Chì khoảng 3 tháng thôi Đại tá. (It's only been 3 months Colonel sir.)

Colonel (points to the rest of us): Các đồng chí nay biết nói tiếng việt không? (Do any of these comrades speak Vietnamese?)

Me: Chi có các đồng chí nay (pulls Lelei and Kuribayashi out), biết nói thôi ạ. (Only these comrades, now how to speak Vietnamese sir.)

Kuribayashi (whispering): I don't know how to speak-

Me: Well, if you didn't know, then why did you know he was talking about if any of you spoke Vietnamese? Plus, I taught you some of the basics already. Now, you have to put it to good use.

Kuribayashi (sighs and salutes him): Chào Đại tá ạ. (Hello Colonel sir.)

Lelei: Chào Đại tá ạ. (Hello Colonel sir.)

Colonel: Chào Trung Sĩ và con. Tên của Trung Sĩ và con là gì? (Hello Segenant and (A/N: Can't translate the con part)___. What are your names?

Kuribayashi: Dạ, tên là Shino Kuribayashi. (Sir, my name is Shino Kuribayashi)

Colonel: À. Tên tiếng Nhật. (Ah. Japanese name)

Lelei: Và tên của con là Lelei La Lelena. (And my name is Lelei La Lelena.)

Colonel: Con là tử Khu Vực Đặc Biêt đúng không?

Lelei: Dạ vâng.

Colonel: Được rồi. Bây giờ giới thiêu xung quanh doanh trại này tro các đồng chí còn lại. Dịch được không Minh? (Okay then. Right now we're going to have a tour around the base. Minh, can you help me with the translations?)

Me: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

The Colonel then shows around the base. As we do our tour, we see a group of soldiers firing.

Sergeant: Sẵn sàng! Bắn!

The soldiers then fire their standard issue AK-74M's in điểm xả (two round burst).

Itami and Tomita: Wow! That fast?

Me: Yeah.

Tomita: Sir, that's faster than us in 3 round burst.

Me: It dosen't matter about suppressive fire in this case. It matters that we can be both accurate and still be able to fire a hail of lead at the enemy positions. Itami already knows this from Alnus.

Itami: Yeah, you were lightning fast at eliminating those archers.

Pina and Bozes: Are those "AK-74Ms"?

Me: Yep, they sure are.

We continue on through the base, for example through the cafeteria, the sleeping quarters, etc. Once we were done, the Colonel bid us on our way. We then went acrossed the street to get checked into the hotel and business like that before our 2nd testimonies. Before that, I quickly changed into my Vietnamese dress green uniform while Kuribayashi, Tomita, and Itami went back to wearing their dress greens.

A/N: Something like this.

Kuribayashi (blushes again): Still looking handsome, even if you're in another uniform.

Me: Thanks. We should get ready to move out though. (I check my watch) We only have 2 more hours before our testimony.

Itami: So we split up again? Or will there be a escort?

Me: For now, there will be a convoy of vehicles coming.....now.

I see 2 vehicles approach us in black, bearing the "80A" beginning, which I knew was a diplomatic or governmental plate.

Me: Same plan. Kuribayashi, Pina, Bozes, with me.

Kuribayashi, Pina, and Bozes: Right!

I then get shotgun up front while the 3 ladies sit in the back.

Me (looking back): Uncomfortable at all?

Kuribayashi: No sir.

Me: Alright then. (looks at driver) Mình có thể đi dược rồi. (We can go now.)

Driver: Dạ vâng. (Yes sir.)

Then our convoy of vehicles, surrounded by police cars, begins to head to the National Assembly.

A few moments later, Tóa nhà Quốc hội Việt Nam (National Assembly of Vietnam)

We make it to the National Assembly without the press spotting us first, due to using a back gate. We were then escorted by one of the Prime Minister's advisors.

Advisor: Chào các đồng chí, mời đi lổi này đây. (Hello Comrades. This way please.)

The advisor then leads us to the assembly room, about a few yards up ahead.

Assembly room

Once we entered the room, we were greeted again with flashes of cameras. Along with the Vietnamese VTV and VTC, there were also foreign press as well, including the ones from the Diet testimonies. We then were lead to our seats and we all sat down. The General Secretary of the Communist Party Nguyễn Phú Trọng started the speech.

(Hello Comrades from both the National Assembly and from the Special Region who traveled here. I am proud to have the Comrades from the Special Region answer the questions that will be put out. Now let us begin.)

Pina (whispering): Who was that?

Me: The General Secretary of the the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Pina: General Secretary? Communist Party?

Me (I sigh): There will be books for you to read later on that. I can't explain right now.

I see that some of the Directors of the People's Commitees around the country stand up for their questions.

Chủ Tịch Ủy Ban Nhân Dân Tỉnh Thái Bình (Director of the People's Commitee of Thái Bình province) Đặng Trọng Thăng: Dạ tổng bí thử. Mình có thể hỏi một câu hổi được không ạ? (General Secretary sir. May I ask my question?)

General Secretary Trọng: Mời đồng chí đật ra câu hổi. (You can ask your question.)

Director Thăng: Dạ vâng. (turn to us) Thưa các đồng chí từ Khu Đặc Biêt, địa hình và chính trì trong như thể nào? (Yes. Comrades in the Special Region, can you please tell us about the geography and politics of the Special Region?)

General Secretary Trọng: Mời một đồng chí trá lời câu hổi của đồng chí Thăng. (Please 1 comrade answer director Thăng's question.)

I stand up.

Me (stands up): Dạ vâng. Mình sẽ giới thiều trước. Mình là Thượng Úy Lê Văn Minh, của Thủy quân lục chiến Hoa Kỳ và Sư Đoàn 301 của Bộ Tư Lệnh Thủ Đô.  Đên câu hởi của đồng chí, đên địa hình, nói chung là có đồng cỏ với một số nơi có đồi và có một số nơi có rừng. Đên chính trì, là mình cho đồng chí nay tra lới (waves to Lelei). (Yes. First I would like to introduce myself. I am First Lieutenant Lê Văn Minh of the United States Marine Corps and the 301st Infantry Division of the Capital City Command. To answer Director Thăng's question, the Special Region is mainly dominated by grasslands, but there are some areas of forest and hills. And to politics, I would like to have this comrade answer that question.)

Lelei then stands up.

Lelei: Dạ vâng. Con là Lelei La Lelana, mốt người dân ở trong Khu Vực Đặc Biêt. Đên chính trì, là có 1 hoàng đế và 1 thương nghị viên làm công việc của chính phủ. (I am Lelei La Lalena, a resident of the Special Region. To continue, with politcs, we have an Emperor and a Senate doing the work of government.)

Lelei sits back down. To sum it all up, the testmonies went smoothly, unlike the Diet politicians, the National Assembly politicians were more understanding and sick of the bullsh*t of other countries.

A few hours after the testmonies end, Sky Hotel

Me: Alright, me, Kuribayashi, Tomita, and Itami have to go out to meet some police forces. Just stay in the hotel and don't be crazy, got it?

Pina, Bozes, Tuka, Rory, and Lelei: Yes sir.

Me: And Lelei, keep an eye on them will you?

Lelei: I will.

Me: Itami, its time to go.

Itami: Right, let's get going then.

A few moments later, 23 Nguyễn Khang, Cành Sát Cơ Động (Mobile Police) HQ

We arrive at the CSCĐ and once at the gate, we are greeted by a policeman who was sent to escort us.

Policeman: Dạ đồng chí là Thượng Úy Lê Văn Minh đúng không? (Are you First Lieutenant Lê Văn Minh sir?)

Me: Đúng rối. (Yes.)

Policeman: Dạ vâng, tư lệnh của Tiêu đoàn muôn gặp các đồng chí. (Yes sir, this way. The battlation commander wants to see you.)

The policeman then leads us to the main buliding and onto the 4th floor, where the battalion commander is waiting for us.

Battlation Commander: Chào đồng chí Lê Văn Minh. (Hello comrade Minh)

Me: Dạ vâng, chào Trung Tá. (Hello Lieutenant Colonel sir.)

Police Battalion Commander (waves his hand to the seats): Mời các đồng chí ngồi xuống. (Please comrades, sit down.)

Me: Guys, you can sit down now.

Me, Tomita, Itami, and Kuribayashi sit down. What surprised me next was the fact he could speak perfect English.

Police Battalion Commander (in a normal American accent): Alright, I sure that the 4 of you have already been briefed on the situation happening later tonight. For a brief recap though to make sure we're on the same page. At 2200 hours tonight, Chinese MSS agents will strike a major road.

Tomita: Yes, that's correct, uhh-

Police Battalion Commander: Lieutenant Colonel.

Tomita: Yes Lieutenant Colonel sir. But how many agents will there be?

Police Battalion Commander: We are not entirely sure how many Chinese MSS agents there will be. That's why in addition to us, the Mobile Police, there will be CIA SOG and FSB "Vympel" agents as well defending that road, wherever it may be.

Kuribayashi: So we come in dressed as normal police officers?

Police Battalion Commander: That is correct Sergeant. You will be the special police officers within our unit as you will have flexiblility to chose which gear you want to bring. But before that, I need to show your uniforms.

The Police Battalion Commander then leads us to a changing room, where our uniforms are hanged up on a rack.

Police Battalion Commander (waves hand): Those will be your uniforms for tonight. Other than that, I'm afraid I can't give much as. Take these uniforms with care, they're yours now.

Me: Thanks.

I scan my uniform and the 3 others.

A/N: The uniform looks something like this (disregard the MP5s and the military gear).

A/N: Ranks will be in this order:

Itami: Đại Úy (Captain)

Minh: Thượng Úy (First Lieutenant)

Tomita: Thượng Sĩ (First Sergeant)

Kuribayashi: Trung Sĩ (Sergeant)

Also their nametags will be on their right side, as usual of these types of uniforms.

Police Battalion Commander: So, I assume that everything's in good order?

Me: Yes sir.

Police Battalion Commander: Alright then. Tonight you'll have to patrol the streets at 2130 hours. Be there on time.

Me: Yes sir.

Police Battalion Commander: Alright, chào các đồng chí. (Bye comrades.) (He salutes us)

Me: Dạ vâng (I salute back)

By the time we reach the gate and back into our vehicle, Itami sighs at the amount of work we probably will have to deal.

Itami: Even in Vietnam, we still can't escape battles huh?

Me: Yeah, even here.

Kuribayashi: Tough times men.

Me: Yeah you're right. Anyways once we get back, gather everyone and we'll go to a Phở restaurant to eat. By the way, Tomita, you're driving this time.

Tomita: Yes sir.

We all get into our seats (Tomita and Itami sit at front, Kuribayashi and I sit at the back) and get moving back to the hotel.

A few moments later, back at the hotel

Me: Well alright. I have already told Itami, Kuribayashi, and Tomita this, but tonight, we will be going to a Phở restaurant. And before you question me, of course not on the street.

Lelei, Pina, Bozes, Tuka, and Rory: Huh?

Me (thinking): Oh yeah, they don't know what Phở is.

Me: You all will know once we get there. Anyways, is everybody ready?

Everyone: Yes!

Me: Let's get movin' then, shall we?

At the Phở restaurant, a few minutes later

Once we get to the restaurant, I give out our orders and give the money in beforehand. We all go sit down at a table, and before we knew it, the bowls were already delivered to us. As everyone gets their bowl delivered, I give out everyone's chopsticks and spoons.

Me (gives everyone chopsticks and spoons): Well, since we're settled, dig in!

Everyone execpt me, Pina, and Bozes: Itadakimasu!

Me: Mời các người ăn. (Everyone, please eat.)

We all start to eat our bowls, and quickly, since all of us our hungry. By the time we are done, everyone is full and we start to head back to the hotel for some....planning you can say.

A few moments later, back at the hotel

Meanwhile Pina, Bozes, Tuka and Lelei look at some books that I bought for them on the way home. Pina and Bozes wanted some Vietnamese political books and Lelei wanted Vietnamese language books, so I bought it all for them to read in the meantime. Meanwhile, me, Kuribayashi, Tomita, and Itami discuss about patrol.

Itami: -I think it may be best if we split into two man teams. That way, we won't be hit as easily than if we move in a group.

Me: Okay then. Me and Kuribayashi will be one 2-man team, and you, Itami and Tomita, will be another. Just like in Italica, me and Kuribayashi will take the front, while you 2 can cover our 6.

Itami: Got it.

Me: But be on high alert. We don't what street they can attack first, or even if they're wearing visible clothing, so use the sensor grenades I gave all of you to distingush between civilians and the enemy. Got it?

Tomita and Kuribayashi: Yes sir!

Itami: Yep.

Me (sighs): This is going to be a long night.

Kuribayashi then puts her left hand on my right shoulder.

Kuribayashi (smiling): Don't worry about it sir. If we stick with you, we'll make it out.

Me (chuckles): Right. Anyways, I going to go set my gear. You guys go do the same. Oh, and I almost forget something.

I haul the package of Honey Badgers out.

Tomita: Uh...sir? What are these?

Me (checks the PDW): AAC Honey Badgers. They're modified to fire normal 5.56 rounds that we have, so we should be fine.

I then give each of them a Honey Badger.

Me: If you guys need to restock on ammo, just come back to the hotel. Got a load of them in my room. (I laugh) Anyways, yeah, I think that should be it when it comes to weapons. Now get your gear going, and meet at 2220 hours down at the lobby.

Itami: Right.

Tomita and Kuribayashi: Yes sir!

I head back to my room, which no one else is using right now, since they are all gathered in Itami's room.I first check my plate carrier to see if its in working order

Me (to myself): It's good.

I then check my ammo. I think I have enough.

Me (to myself): Yeah, I have enough. Check.

I then go on to my Ops Core FAST helmet. Yep got the radio bulit in, the flashlight on the side, and the ENVG-Bs (even though I don't need the ENVG-Bs cuz...I'm a Ghost, and we have the Ghost glasses, which are personally for me, better in every way).

Me (to myself): Check.

I check my Honey Badger to see if it works first hand, and I get an empty mag out and fire blanks. It works, as I expected of a new gun. I also put on the attachments (an ACOG, Green Laser, and an angled foregrip). And I also checked my suppressed M18.

Me (to myself): Check.

Lastly, i iron out my uniform and check my Ghost glasses, all of which are in working order.

Me (to myself): And that should do it.

I then put all my gear out on the other bed in my room and I fell onto my bed.

Me (sighs): I should probably get some sleep beforehand.

I then check my clock to see I got 2 hours of sleep before out patrol and eventual battle tonight. I then close my eyes and fall asleep.

1 hour and 30 minutes later

I slowly awake from my slumber sleep and I checked my watch. Still got 30 minutes till we meet up again. Great...

Me: Back at home, and still have to worry about a battle. Thanks you Chinese agents.

I start to suit up, starting with the uniform. Then I put on my plate carrier, triple checking the ammo again. The holster for my pistol would come next, and I put my pistol in there. Then came the Ops-Core FAST helmet with my ENVG-Bs and lastly, I picked up the Honey Badger and exited my room back to Itami's room. When I enter the room, I find that our group was sitting and talking with each other.

Me: Uh guys?

Itami: Already suited up?

Me: Yeah. You guys should probably do the same.

Itami: Yeah, we will in a sec.

Me: Are you planning to use your SDF gear (points to the SDF gear they have) over your uniform?

Itami: Yeah. What's wrong?

Me: I may fear that these agents will be in plain clothes...oh wait, never mind.

Itami: Uh-huh. (to Kuribayashi and Tomita) Guys!

Kuribayashi and Tomita: Yes sir?

Itami: Time to gear up, change of plans, we're moving out early.

Kuribayashi and Tomita: Yes sir!

Itami, Kuribayashi, and Tomita went to put their gear on in my room while I waited in Itami's room for them to come back.

Lelei: What's going on?

Me: We have a job to do tonight. For now, just tell Pina, Bozes, Tuka, and Rory to stay here.

Lelei: Yes. I will.

Itami then comes rushing in.

Itami: Actually....Rory may have to come with us.

Me: Why?

Itami: Remember Italica?

Me (sighs): Alright then...Rory, you're coming with us.

Rory: Yay! I love the smell of blood!

Me: Don't get your hopes up yet. Anyways, Itami, that fast?

Itami: Yep.

Me: How about Kuribayashi and Tomita?

Itami: They should be coming....now.

When Itami said that, almost on queue, Kuribayashi and Tomita arrive back.

Kuribayashi: We are done sir.

Itami: Alright, stick to the plan. Lê and Kuribayashi are a team....and me, Tomita and Rory will be a team.

Me (to Kuribayashi): Looks like you're coming with me. Stick close and don't try to get injured.

Kuribayashi (blushing slightly): Yes sir.

The 5 of us exit the hotel and begin our patrol for the night...and the battle that lies ahead.

*insert ending theme

A/N: And that's Chapter 9 for you folks. Sorry if the ending felt a bit rushed. I hope you still enjoyed it though. Review on how you liked it.

Have a nice day!
