8. Burn

[A/N] If you die from the GIF, it's fine I did too :)

Blinking felt like the easiest thing. Moving my mouth and creating words  felt like the opposite, especially when seven boys were staring at you.

Seven beautiful boys.

Their hair was like a rainbow, all shades crowded together on two couches. I recognized two of them, from his light purple hair and foxy eyes, and the other with his ethereal beauty and hair like blood.

Jimin sent me a small smile before his face fell, replaced with fear and worry upon glancing at the boy beside him. I gulped as I turned to look at the other Gem, instantly noticing Taehyung's eyes darken and narrow in hatred.

I looked away, my gaze falling back on the faces that still watched me.

"Who's this?" One of them piped up, his hair a golden yellow.

The whole room was silent for a moment, not having any clue what to say.

"This is Taehyung's slave, Hoseok." Jimin explained for him, eyebrows furrowed.

A blue Gem in the back gave a small smile. "You must be the human everyone's talking about," he said with satisfying realization his tone, resembling the voice of when you solved a difficult problem.

I nodded, my mouth still sewn shut. After what happened yesterday, when I spoke without thinking, I could've risked my job. This time, I would stay true to the list of rules and follow them to the best of my ability. Even when I didn't want to.

What made it harder was that the seven Gems kept watching me— scanning me carefully. That was one thing that none of them could cover up when around humans. The fear was clear in their eyes; they were observing, and acting accordingly. It was like watching an uncaged lion, it was unpredictable what it would do next.

I shifted uncomfortably.

That's when Taehyung spoke up, making me jerk my head in his direction. "She's not worth it, guys." The boy said impatiently, standing up and walking toward me. "She just got the wrong room."

"Hold up, Taehyung. She doesn't know who we are. Shouldn't she should know our names first?" Another Gem spoke up, and I recognized Jimin speaking.

"She's human." Taehyung seethed, black eyes narrowing even more.

"That doesn't matter. She should know our names and who we are."

Taehyung huffed in irritation, backing away from the scene.

"We're the seven replacements of the Order," he explained. "This is Jung Hoseok, Topaz sect," he gestured to a golden-haired-Gem who bit his lip in fear. "Kim Seokjin, Emerald sect," he pointed to a green haired Gem, who's eyes looked at me in discomfort. "Min Yoongi, Onyx sect," the Gem glanced over at me for a mere second before turning away, his plum hair glittering under the sunlight beaming through the window. "Kim Namjoon, Sapphire sect," the familiar Gem smiled at me slightly, providing me with a slight ounce of serenity. "And Jeon Jungkook, Pearl sect." A white headed Gem looked over, his doe eyes wide and confused. He saw me and they opened even wider before he looked away.

"I'm Park Jimin, Amethyst sect." He gestured to himself.

I raised an eyebrow. "What does that mean? Sect?" I asked quietly, eyes gazing back and forth between the seven of them. Their sharp jaws tensed, and their eyes met one another—gazes laced with concern. I pursed my lips, hoping not to start another fight, especially right now.

I've had enough drama for the last couple days.

The blue haired Gem in the back—I'm assuming Namjoon—commented. "There's seven different sects. Sapphire, Emerald, Onyx, Topaz, Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl." He explained patiently. "We're all under each."

I nodded in understanding, having no clue that there were different classifications. Initially, I assumed that it was just a matter of possessing the coloured hair gene, but clearly there was much more to this world. It was pleasurable feeling to understand something so foreign to you, even if you dislike the people.

I was so hidden from all of it my whole life, and it appeared they were too.

Our conversation came to an abrupt stop when I overheard a harsh command coming from Taehyung. I turned to him with a frown, my gaze directly meeting his. I could've sworn his eyes burned into mine from how furious he seemed.

"Follow me. Now." He commanded, as he began to stride into another room, not even sparing a second to wait for me. I fumbled with my tools, and placed them on the ground before running to catch up to him.

"What do you want?" I asked, but he ignored me, his pace not slowing down.

"Could you answer me please?" I asked, reaching for his arm to grab his attention.

I gasped, feeling a harsh sting pierce through my skin. It felt like a rug burn, and a textured wood scraping against my skin all at once, intensifying by the second. We both cried out in pain, and we ripped our arms away from each other, the harsh feeling tearing us apart.

I backed away from him, breathless.

"What the fuck was that?" I questioned, not holding back my anger any longer. My hand was red, as smoke emitted from it—a sight I'd never thought I could witness on someone.

"Gems can't touch humans, dumbass. I expected you to know that." Taehyung replied with the same anger as he touched the burn mark on his arm. Unlucky for me, he was wearing a baggy white T-shirt, exposing the skin on his arm. But the wound didn't appear burnt enough to be harmful, although it left a staining red colour on his skin.

My curiosity peaked and I bravely looked back up at him.

"Why can't Gems touch humans and vice-versa?" I asked.

"It burns your skin if you couldn't tell," he replied with an irritated tone. "It shows the hatred between the sides. The more intense it is, the worser the burn."

I nodded in understanding, thinking back to the times the Gems avoided touching me at all costs. It wasn't because they were grossed out—like I imagined—they hated us so much to the point that it harmed them, and us.

Taehyung stood tall again, his gaze falling on me. "Why the fuck are you here, anyway?" He said arrogantly, before brushing back his red, fluffy hair. The fluffiness made him appear adorable, yet his attitude displayed the far opposite. "You shouldn't be in this part of headquarters,"

"I was covering for someone." I replied, lifting my chin to not let his arrogance affect me. Kindness instantly fell down my list of priorities, almost landing in last place. I couldn't stand him, and I don't think he favoured me either, as his black eyes sent me a menacing glare.

"Whatever, just stay away from us." He said coldly, walking away from me. "You understand?"

I scoffed in surprise, watching as Taehyung left the room. In all honesty, I thought he was mad because I bothered him, or was an inconvenience for his perfect life. What I least expected was for him to act any differently, especially worried and protective of his friends.

Asshole, but not a selfish prick.

I scoffed with a purse on my lips, before making my way back toward the other room to gather my tools. My gaze flickered back up immediately as I reached the hallway, noticing a purple haired Gem standing there.

Their short form stood strong, chest heaving, eyes blazing, gloved hands in fists, and purple hair messy. Their steps were terrifying as they stalked over to me in an intimidating manner.

I gulped upon recognizing them.

Ms. Jung.

She came even closer, and my eyes widened when she grabbed my arm harshly and dragged me away. I clenched my teeth to withstand the pain, tears threatening to form in my eyes.

My God, she has a firm ass grip.

"You stupid girl!" She exclaimed as we walked down the hallway at record speed, "you don't follow rules at all!" The purple haired Gem went on, growling at me. "I tried to be understanding at first, but I can't believe you would disrespect Mr. Kim a second time." She huffed, dragging me through the halls like a rag doll, despite my efforts to maintain the same pace as her.

I let out small whines, the pain unbearable. I could've sworn my arm was bleeding, and my skin tearing from how tightly she held me. I gasped when she brought me to small black room, and shoved me in there.

I yelped as my body slammed against the cold, concrete floor. My head spun in circles, my body shaking from the fall and the tingling feeling left from her gloved hands.

"I told you there'll be punishment for your disobedience," she said, her voice raspy, and deep. My head jerked upon hearing a loud thud, gulping as I realized she had closed the door. The silence and darkness left me catching my breath, searching for any sign of movement or sound.

I grew up in darkness, but this felt utterly terrifying. I had no idea what to do. Not to mention this woman seemed to have the blood of iron, and left me awaiting the unexpected.

That's when the lights flicked on, a blinding white that only worsened my headache. The room was stained white, windows and doors vacant along with any sense of comfort. My eyes struggled to focus, wandering until they fell upon the moving form who grew nearer to me. Before I knew it, it was right in front of me, with a horrific grin on its face.

It was Ms. Jung. Her face was that of a sadistic monster, unlike anything I had ever seen. I looked into her eyes, relishing the human aspects it contained for just moments before the rims began to turn a plum purple, same as her hair.

I tried to look away, but she grabbed my chin to keep my gaze on her own.

I felt powerless, weak, all the things I hated. I wanted to cry, I wanted to scream for freedom but there was none given.

I was alone, and trapped.

That's when black dust began to swirl behind her, forming a dead body of my mother, father and Seulgi on the floor—dead. My eyes widened, tears threatening to spill down my face. I felt empty, death and pain taking over my being and mind. I screamed, as I felt a pair of chains wrap around my legs and arms, caging me in cold metal. I twisted to set myself free, but it was no use, there was no escape.

Then I saw Ms. Jung in front of me, laughing manically, as she watched me whither into nothing.

Powerless, weak and trapped.

Death, pain.

I screamed again, my throat raw as if it was about to bleed. It was all I could manage as the dark, and terrifying thoughts rushed through me, my mind begging for the woman to end this. My breathing quickened and my heart pounded, watching the walls of the cage close in further, and I kicked to free myself.

Before the wall could crush me, everything stopped and went black, drowning me in silence.

Unedited.

Sorry for the weird chapter, and cliffhanger.

Fun fact my friends, I was actually planning on making Taehyung a Sapphire. Imagine that...he still would've been damn beautiful either way lmao😂

To bless your eyes...

AHHHH I swear he actually can't look bad in anything :/

But to go with the story, you'll soon understand why I chose Garnet. If you wanna find out, vote and comment. Or, even better tune in for next week 😚
