What is that Wattpad Concept you feel should be kicked out?

HawtHawtHeatGurl: BAD BOYS!

There are way too many bad boys stories.

And I've read enough to know the girl that doesn't like bad boys ends up falling in love with a bad boy.

Lilly: I want to shove my phone on a wall when I see one of those!
It is so tiring!

Okki what's your opinion?

There is not really enough lgbtq+ stories and I like those best.

Lilly: Waoh, I think since the community is generally just gaining grounds the books are gradually coming up❤️.

Honestly, it's the bad boy good girl trope. Don't get me wrong, I love that trope but when it gets used so many times with practically the same plot, it gets annoying!

So, what's gonna be your take on this matter?

ArielMLongee: Honestly, I would have to say the love triangle.

TC_Liyanage: I'd like to say, some teenfics, where the girls falls for the bad guy and how their chemistry builds. Its something I can see in many books. So yeah, it should be scrapped!
And in mafia stories, the hate first turning to love has been quite the same chemistry in everywhere now.

So, what's that concept you feel we should kick out of Wattpad?

Dee: I hate to say it but the concept that I always seem to come across is the good old 'moves to a new town' and 'school geek turns cool'.
However, this could just be put down to my age I suppose!
It's probably more a question of what appeals to the reader.

I also find that concept annoying.

Dee: Yep- it would be really nice to see this take a turn for the darker side now and again. Maybe something like the school 'cool' girl turning into the world's biggest train spotter.

If any of the concepts should be voted out, you savages should be banished from Wattpad realm forever!

Sorry for that, my cameraman isn't well versed with this side of Wattpad.

FC: well, a lot of souls fear to venture this deep into Wattpad.
How may I be of assistance Lilly?

Lilly: I need your opinion on something, what concept do you think is over used on Wattpad?

FC: Now, I haven't read much stories on Wattpad except Fanfictions. And in fanfictions, there's the usual cliche stuff and plot pacing problems.

Lilly: Can you be more specific, please🤔

FC: Like, I read a book in which a character meets the reader for the first time and after about an hour, says, "You are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen", (Y/n)

Then in these stories, the reader is VERY sassy and sarcastic 99% of the times.

That is not the question you asked though, right?

Lilly: Ermmm. . . I am not sure. . .🤔

FC: Hmmm. Now. . .There's the bad boy trope. I personally read only one such book, but as I said, I haven't read much stories anyway.

Lilly: Definitely! The concept should be kicked out!

FC: This concept is really overused. Like. . .??
The boy is always hot, handsome and a jerk.
And the girl is either very sassy or too timid.
It's really annoying!

And then there are werewolf and vampire books.

(Cameraman starts coughing again)

I haven't actually read any because that genre doesn't appeal to me, but I've read about them in a review shop.

They're either werewolf x vampire, or werewolves and vampires are total enemies or something about manipulative alphas.

So. . . That's all I know about overused concepts.

Lilly: right. . . thanks

FC: Have an awesome day!

Lilly: Sure. . .

*starts heading back to the studio with a foul mood. Suddenly a very large Dragon swerves down towards them in a dangerous speed! The cameraman tries to run but Lilly holds him back!*

Lilly: Where do you think you are going?

Cameraman: Boss, it-t-

Lilly: Calm down, I know this dragon. . . (glares at the creature). . .besides, I told you earlier, we are on the Fantasy side of Wattpad!

Zara, you can come out now!

*Dragon reappears and settles majestically on the tarred street. Zara steps down from it's huge scaly back with pink shoes*

(Crowd cheers)📢

Zara: Hey People!

(Crowd responds happily!)

Lilly: Entrances like that can only be pulled off by you!

(Gives her a hug!)

What are you doing here?

Zara: Oh I came to pet my dragons, I was missing them. . .

(looks lovingly at the dragon we could see and the ones we couldn't🤔)

Lilly: Ah I see.

Zara, do you hate Vampires?

I don't know why everyone seem to have an issue with Vampires!😠

Cameraman: Boss, it isn't everyone. Its-

Lilly: I do not need your opinion!🙄

Zara: Someone looks mad😁

Lilly: How can anyone think Vampire stories are overused?😩

Zara_Wilkinson: Everyone is entitled to their opinion Lilly. . .besides, there might be some truth in it. . .

Lilly: It's true that most of these vampire stories follow almost the exact same plot and it really annoying. .😩

but. . .you know when the doctor tells you not to take candy, yet you sneak in and take the candy through hurting tooth😩

I still love the cliché vampire stories of wattpad (even if I read more than half of everything Vampire!) And even if I can tell how the damn story would end from two chapters😩😩

Zara: I understand Lilly. . . (pats her back) everyone has that genre they can't get enough of. . .

Lilly: Thank you Zara.

Lilly: I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier🌚 please forgive me?

Cameraman: 😁. . .ermmm only if you give me a promotion

Lilly: Nice try. . .but no!

Zara, so what do you think about overused concepts, which do you think is old and worn?

Zara: Personally, I find that there's quite a few overused concepts. So from a fantasy writer's view, I find these storylines quite a lot:

- Descended from a ruler and need to over throw the current evil ruler. I like to call these 'True Heir' stories

- Then there's the general big evil villain that no one has ever beaten, but a teenager does.

There's quite a few and I don't have too much experiences with those of other genres.

Lilly: You are right.
These storylines are everywhere.

But you see, the key to successfully using an overused concept is to have unpredictable plot twists!

Look at my favourite book of all time, "Heir to the Empire" by the amazing RobClark5, it falls on the True Heir trope category but it was so wonderfully executed with such amazing twists, the fact that it's a worn trope won't even flash through your mind.
