Today, I am going to move out to the streets of Wattpad. 🌴

For what you may ask, considering the fact that I have such a large studio😁 -yes, yes, it is large-😁

(you don't believe I have a large studio? Give me a call😂)

I told you guys this was going to be a different kind of Interview shop and I never lie *in Black Panther's voice🙅*

In that note, we are going to be having sessions like this, where we will be getting the general opinion about Wattpad issues, events and contests straight from users on the Wattpad Street!🌴

Today's focus is on the just concluded qualifying round of the Open Novella Contest or as it is popularly called ONC🌴

The contest started sometimes in February and a lot of books were entered in almost every language and yesterday, the results for The First '2000 words count milestone' Round were announced.

So, I took it upon myself to find out how the authors who qualified felt.

Below is the feedback!

How did you feel when you got the notification that your entry qualified?

I was elated😄

Mystic_Whisperer : Omg! My heart was beating when I was scrolling through the list of names and I found many of my friends qualified too which is amazing!!😆

Excitement bubbled through me when I found I was qualified! (Excuse my descriptions, I am a writer and sometimes I even talk like my words, XD😁) . . .and tbh, I didn't really think we would qualify because there are so many talented authors out there, so it was really a shock to me☺

Thank you for reaching out! I feel really honored to be included with all the amazing talent that entered the Open Novella Contest in 2021.
I am over the moon to be chosen as a Round One Qualifier.
As an author, you put so much of yourself and your dreams into your writing and when something comes along, like a contest, to validate all the time and hardwork- - - it's truly a special moment. I'm so very happy😊

slimmwrites: I actually woke up at 2am to finish the chapter I was working on on my project, only to see that the results were published. Scrolling down, I saw a lot of my friends qualifying and that made me real happy and proud! Seeing my name wasn't really a surprise but I was just as excited to see I had advanced to the second round.

Well, when I read my username in the list, I was super happy! I entered a fan fic and this is my first time participating in something as big as the ONC, so I had less hope of qualifying.
Well, you see I read a few books submitted by the participants in the ONC so I almost felt that my book had no chance to qualify because of the creativity and writing skills of the other books.
So seeing my name in the qualifiers list, shocked me, in a good way of course! I am still excited about it!😁

How did you feel when you got the notification that your entry qualified?

I felt hope.
Then through the hope came that little light (or white, if you will) that you find on the dark side of the yin and yang symbol.
Then finally settled to elation, thrill, a feeling of accomplishment.
It was largely the first thing my eyes graced this morning. When I saw it, I knew there was hope, a place for my stories in the Wattpad world (and by extension, the outside world).
It was then I knew that that piece of information was going to be the light I would be holding on to throughout the day, this week and months later. It would be something I can put my hands on and be proud about.
All these made me happy!

CreatorYah : To be Honest with you, I was surprised and excited, It felt like I was on top of the world, that was before reality dawned on me, I was yet to reach the next milestone for my story.

Lilly: Lol😂
CreatorYah is right, some of us haven't started on the next milestone but hey! We made it this far so let us enjoy this one achievement for as long as we can! Congratulations guys!

How did you feel when you got notified?

NykkyBee: Honestly Lilly, I was scared!

Lilly: Why?😆

NykkyBee: Because now I am really in it to win it. Before it was just everyone. Now it is people they picked to continue.

I am also so happy. Out of everyone who entered, I happened to get picked. I get a chance to keep going in a competition. Especially one as big as this one.

Lilly: 😂

NykkyBee: Finally, I was nervous. I am on the clock to make sure and finish my writing on time. I have kinda been in a writing slump lately. Waking up to this though had me up and writing at four in the morning. (That is when I woke up, LoL)😂😂

Lilly: Awww, well more grease to those mechanics in your brain!😁

Anyway, for Non-Nigerians reading this, Sophie didn't mean more ginger as in the cooking spice ginger.🌯

More ginger is a slang in pidgin English that means More confidence or something like that🤦🏽‍♀️ (interpreting pidgin is so hard😣)

Congratulations to all qualifiers! I wish each and every one of you (including me😜)  good luck in the next round!

As for those who didn't qualify, a very sweet baby girl of mine posted a message on her board yesterday and I think we all need to see it and emulate her spirits.

"So, I didn't qualify for the ONC. I'm sad. It kinda crushed my spirit. A kick in my ego but, it is what it is. . . .I guess.

I see many of you giving up on your stories. I know it hurts but once, you chose that prompt because you really liked it or because it spoke to you, consider this before you decide to discontinue your book.

I won't be giving up on mine though. I use this opportunity to learn how to write a novella under thirteen weeks.

To those that didn't qualify, I am so sorry, I know how much it hurts.

To those who qualified, congratulations!

To both parties, try to keep going."
