🌸Interview(6): The Promise

🌷Sab khubsurat logon ko salam!🌷

I am your host Lilly, and I welcome you all to another blissful moment in my garden💐💐💐

Before I introduce my guest for today, I would like to appreciate everyone taking a minute or two to check out my interviews, it means a million dollars to me😁!

Now that I have that off my fragile and innocent chest🙃, allow me to introduce my baby girl, my friend, all the way from Pakistan, Elifhoorainstories the talented author behind "The Promise"

Li: Hi Eli! Welcome to the show.

Without further delay, tell us what 'The Promise' is actually about?

El: Hey Li! Thanks for having me on the show.

Hmm, my story revolves around the promise of becoming a wonderful writer. A dream Arzu had with her father.
Certain characters will make and keep their promises while some will actually break some promises which will end up affecting the story strongly.

Li: I see there are lots of promises in this story.

What's your opinion on promises in general, do you think they are all supposed to be kept?

El: In my point of view, I think some promises are made to be broken.
Also, there are some promises that even if we make them, it's almost never in our hands to keep or break them, rather fate plays its role in it.

Li: Hmmm. . . that reminds me of a song🤔 but let me skip that for now.

Why did you decide to call your book 'The Promise'?

El: I came up with the title, 'The Promise', having in mind that most of the story is focused on the theme of keeping and breaking certain promises.

Li: So how did you come up with the whole concept, was it a movie or a personal experience?

El: No, the idea didn't come up in my mind because of any movie or series or experience. It is all the product of my imagination.

Li: I just feel like the story was a personal experience.

Sophie: She said it isn't. Let it go!🙄

No, you don't understand Sophie. The opening scene could even bare me witness.

Sophie: How can a scene bare you witness?🙄

The thing is- you- what I'm saying-

Okay.

Maybe I'm over thinking it but that coffee shop scene, felt like it was Eli's own memories, from thoughts down to the reactions!

Sophie: Lilian just stop it!

El: Sophie let me handle this😆
Li you felt like the coffee scene was like my memory because, when I was writing that scene, I felt myself present there.
You know, like sometimes writers enter into the world of their characters.

Li: Okay, I'll buy that. You can't escape this question though😒

Since the scene wasn't your own memory on paper, you should atleast have some cute guys in your life, that inspired that scene, right?

El: Hahaha. No way, girl! I keep a huge distance from guys whether cute or not. Lol.

Li: Lol. Okay fine, I'll let you breathe for a while.

In the meantime, tell me about Arzu. How is her character?

El: Arzu's character is determined, bold and strong that is why no boy's charm works on her. She is goal oriented with lots of objectives. She is kind and believes in the power of true love. For her, love is a promise that if made, must never be broken.

Li: If she believes so much in love, why does she have a problem with every male character in the book? Does she like women?

El: Lol. No she doesn't hate all the male characters. She is just a reserved kind of girl when it comes to boys.

Li: Really? I don't believe you! How do you explain her relationship with Junaid, Sameer and even the coffee scene guy? Someone who believes in love would show some kind of, you know😁, love signs or something. But she hates all of them!

El: okay, I admit. She has a problem with Junaid and she hates him because he is a flirt and wants to gain her love by force.

She doesn't hate Sameer Ahmad. She just doesn't get frank with boys, especially when she meets them at first glance.

The coffee scene guy is someone who is different from all others and he is going to affect Arzu's life a lot.

Li: Huhuhu! I smell hate at first sight!😁

But wait, if he affects her life, which I am hoping is positively, why did she fight with him at the mall?

El: Arzu fights with him because she doesn't like it when people are rude to others for their own mistakes.

Li: I think Arzu is just stuck up jarey*. Who meets a gun-metal eyed man and doesn't fall for him? I know I won't be the one😍 I have to love him, it's a must I love him! besides, he apologised nau*

Anyway let me go on before I become emotional.

Sophie: (coughs) you emotional?😱 Lilly stop lying to these folks!

(Glares at Sophie)

Eli, have you met my assistant Sophie?

El: Well I have seen her on the show
And I-

Li: Yeah, she is just that! A pain!

El: Bu-but I didn't say that, Li!

Li: Well you didn't have to, I said it for you😁

Anyway, I have about 77 husbands on Wattpad and about 25 boyfriends. I think gun-metal eyes guy is fast joining that list😁

Eli, do you think, fictional boyfriends are cute?

El: LOL, yes I think they are cute. Fictional cute guys on Wattpad are the reason, I can say,'mama I'm in love!'
But this kind of love isn't rational it's fictional.

Li: I still love my lovers😍 okay that came out weird!
Enough love talks! Let's go back to Arzu. Now there is this trend on Wattpad about lead characters (especially the females) bring late for everything, be it class, work or even their own wedding.

My question is, Arzu is also a late comer (or should I say late goer🤔?) Anyway, my point is were you following this trend/pattern or was it just a coincidence?

El: No. Absolutely not. I wasn't following the trend. I haven't read more than two books complete on Wattpad yet, so such a trend hasn't gone through my eyes.

Li: So you are saying, it's just a coincidence?

El: No, because I came up with it. You see, Arzu is a good student and in her final year studying for her Masters in Literature, I didn't want her to be perfect. I want her to be human, so that's why I added the getting late to class thing.

Li: Eli, I don't believe you. You are sure, you are not always late for your classes?

Sophie: (scoffs) look who is talking😂

(Sophie quit interrupting me!)

El: I'll confess, I have been late for my first period quite often in my life. LOL.

Li: See! That didn't hurt😂 I'm also a born late comer😂
Okay now let's talk about Maheen. I love her name and her personality. I have feeling Arzu likes her though. As in like like and not like like like . . . you get what I mean..😜

El: Arzu doesn't 'like like' Maheen in that way at all. They are just best friends. LOL

Li: okay, Arzu isn't dating Maheen. I won't argue.
Tell me about Maheen's character though. Do you have a Maheen in your life🙃?

El: Maheen is a lovely character. She is the kind of best friend who can lighten up your world. She is funny and wise.
And yes, Maheen is totally fictional. I don't have a real life Maheen.

Li: I don't know why, I just love the name. I think I should name my daughter, Maheen 'Mahi' (so cute❤)

How did you make her character?

El: Thank you so much. Maheen is lucky that you like her.
I made her character through my imaginations and she is a source of humor, comfort and moral support for Arzu.

Li: You sure Arzu doesn't romantically like Maheen?😒

El: You see, Arzu is a single child and Maheen is like a sister to her.
I came up with her idea, keeping in my mind that any character who is the main character and shows herself as strong always needs moral support. Someone she could open up her heart to.
That's why I created Maheen. Through out the story she represents one of the best besties of the world.

Li: Hmm that's cute❤
Who is your favourite character?

Mine is the gun metal eyes guy😁
(yes I like 'man')

El: Oh he is also my favourite. LOL.
I am in love with my own character.
Shshsh! *drops voice* that's a secret *winks*

Li: Secret kept! *winks back*

Sophie: Hello! People can literally read everything you are both doing!😒

But they can't see us😁

Eli, where did you get him from?

El: He is a product of only my imagination. LoL.
By the way, I am spoiling something fo-

(❌❌❌)

Li: Let her talk na😤

(❌❌❌)

Sophie: She is about to drop a spoiler!

She wants to do it consciously! Technically that's no longer under 'buzzer alert' category!😤

El: Hahaha. Sophie please understand. I just have to spill this. My stomach hurts from keeping it inside for too long😜

(❌❌❌)

Sophie: really! Who gets tommy aches by keeping a secret?

Li: This isn't a secret!
(Kidnaps the buzzer from Sophie!)

Spill the beans Eli!

El: The gun metal eyes guy's name is Vural Sha!
(Runs and hides behind Lilly)

Sophie I'm sorry, I really had to say it. You see i'm going to reveal his name in the coming chapters.

Sophie: You just spoilt your Mega Reveal!😤 (saves the buzzer from Lilly's slimy clutches)

Look at the bright side! You are the first one to know! *winks*

(❌❌❌)

Sophie: Get back to the interview!

Li: Eli, don't mind Sophie, she is always like this.

(❌❌❌)
Sophie: The interview!

I'm getting to it!🙄

So who is your least favourite character?

El: Sameer Ahmad is the least favourite character while Junaid is just a character I hate. His development is done this way.

Li: Ah! So there is more to this Sameer guy?

El: Exactly! There is a lot more to Sameer Ahmad and it will be revealed to readers in the story.

Li: I see you are refraining from dropping spoilers, 😂 , don't worry Sophie doesn't bite, that's my department.

So which scene was your favourite?

El: That should definitely be the first scene in the story.

Li: Why is that? There were so many lovely scenes, why is coffee shop scene your favourite?

El: Well, because I felt like I was enjoying the rain outside the windows of that coffee shop. I enjoyed it even more than Arzu.

Li: That's really weird. First time an author is loving a random scene more than a deeper section of their work.
Do you like rains a lot, Eli?

El: I am a nature loving person and that's why I do poetry too. And yes, I love rain, autumn and winter. I like spring too but I'm not a big fan of the summer time.

Li: Ah! That explains why you love that coffee shop scene.

So which was your least favourite moment or scene?

El: My least favourite scenes are wakeup scenes.

Li: Lol. You could have made your characters 'not wake up' but live. . . that would have been awkward🤔

El: Yup, that's very awkward.

Li: We are officially done with the boring questions😜. Now the fun begins!

What does Dupatta mean in English?

By the way guys what I said at the beginning of the show is 'Urdu language' (opppoor!🙃 I can speak different languages now oh!)

El: Dupatta is an Urdu word used to refer to a scarf like cloth. It's usually longer than the usual scarf and has enough width to cover your head and chest.
It is actually a part of Pakistani cultural dress, specially in Punjab Province.
Lahore, the city where Arzu lives, is in Punjab Province.

Li: Wow! That's some history folks! Learn something!❤

Was there any funny moment or moments, when you were writing this story?

El: Oh yes, many moments actually. I was once working on a new chapter of my story but was going through a writer's block. I and my family were having dinner together and I suddenly yelled that I have gotten a ideas for a new scene. LoL.
My mum scolded me and dinner became an entire lecture on table manners.

Li: LOL. Hope you didn't have any visitors that day?

El: Oh thank God there weren't any visitors. If there were, writing would have been banned for me for weeks. 😂

Li: If you were to pick one between, Coffee and Ice cream, what would you pick?

El: Hard question. LOL.
But I'll pick Coffee.

Li: So who do you want to give a shout out to here on Wattpad?

El: I would love to give a shout out to Lilly for being an awesome host.

Li: Awwww, I am blushing so much. No one as thought to give me a shout out!😭😭 I do so much hard work and no body notices😭😭 thank you Eli, I love you❤

Sophie: puff! Drama queen!🙄

El: Haha. She deserves it Sophie. Lilly is such a sweet person.

Li: Awwwww Eli, stop it! I'm gonna cry out of joy overload.

Who else are you sending a shout out to? *Sniffs softly*

El: There is askaban, writer of Jumanji fan fiction. An awesome writer and a great reader to me.

Li: *sniffs* what book do you think I should torm- sorry interview next?
I don't know why I keep saying torment instead of interview🙆

El: I would highly recommend 'FEARLESS' by ofcreations
This book is new and relates to serious issues like child abuse. It's a good book that gives rise to questions and makes people think.

If this will make you feel better, I also always end up writing 'slipped' instead of 'spilled'. LOL

Li: Eli, that isn't related at all.😂 I am evil, that's why I keep trying to write 'torment'.

El: Haha. Oh no you are not evil, you are a naughty sweet girl.❤

Li: *turns pink with joy* you have fingered my brains😍

I hate to say this but we have come to the end of the show. I wish you all the best with your story and Shukriya
(That's sounds so sexy) Shukriya Eli!

El: Thank you so much Lilly for all your wonderful questions. I had an amazing time with you and Sophie too❤.

Quick Info🌹
For those that recommended books, don't hate me please😩)) Scheduling a proper date and time for an interview with the writers is so hard. One of the major factors killing me is the time differences we all share, but I promise to get the interviews done as soon as the festivities are over.

Until next time, stay safe!
