💮Interview(45): Intersecting Parallels

Interviewer: The mother of Dragons, Zara_Wilkinson

Hello, it’s been a while.🐝

A lot of things have changed, but I’m fine, as long as nobody tries to kill me.😽

I would like to make it clear that kidnapping, and forcing people to choose a side, is not okay.❌❌

*looks back at the comments sections*

((Lilly: I hope Sophie_songs is listening😡))

You know who you are…

Anyway! Today we have 9Worlds in the studio with their story ‘Intersecting Parallels

--------------------------------------
Note: we both have been quite busy, so the interview was done differently than usual
-------------------------------------

Zara: So for those who haven’t read Intersecting Parallels, what is your story about?

9W: Currently my story’s taken down. The project stays abandoned until I find inspiration to write again, which is depressing since I was really enthusiastic about it.

The story’s about how meritocracy made people ravenous for education.

A group of teens, from the moment they were born were registered to take part in a project to accelerate people’s mechanical and cognitive skills hosted by an elite Society.

These are some of their stories as they navigate friendships and teamwork in hostile environments.

Zara: I hope you find inspiration and finish it once you find inspiration; I’m looking forward to reading the ending.

What inspired you to write your story?

9W: I’d say I’ve always found the concept of “man vs. machines” really interesting. That helped me plan out a few concepts.

Zara: Did you have everything planned out, or did you just make it up as you go alone?

9W: Planning is important since I had to do some background research to get the facts right. There are some plans that I undertook on a whim and some that were offsprings of calculative decisions.

Either way, creativity is huge and there are no rules. You can still have a great story either way.

The problem I faced that caused me to give up on the project was the execution.

I’m not an experienced writer to recommend this, but I’d like to take a moment to say that execution is important.

I recommend people to think before they act, which can save a lot of time and heartbreak (sob, sob) in the future.😩😩😩

Zara: Execution is most definitely important, *pats on the back*

Would you say that you are a perfectionist?

9W: Oh no! I try my best.🙃

I’m completely a novice. I just learn as I go and thanks to a few friends of mine, I was able to understand storytelling as a subject.

It helped me learn a lot of things that helped me understand what went wrong with IP and how, maybe in the near future, I can somehow rectify it.

Zara: I know the feeling of having a story where I just learned as I went… Actually, I think that’s true for every story. At least, for me anyway.😔

Were there any scenes that you just could not wait to get to and write?

9W: Oh yess😀😁.
There were plenty of scenes like that.

Only some stay back in memory.

I’m sure a lot of people can relate to this; the moment you have this really cool idea that you want to see it on paper.

That happens too many times and even though I tell myself, “No, it’s three in the morning. You’d better get to sleep.”

Lilly: This is me right now, trying to get this interview published😂

9W: I can’t resist the temptation to see how the finished product would look like. 😂😂

IP’s general idea was born thanks to such brainstorming sessions.

Zara: Otherwise, what was the hardest scene/chapter to write?

9W: There were lots of psychological horror in the book, where the teens would get decimated by their thought processes (they were machines, anyway) and the prospect of failure would absolutely wreck them. It hit a lot close to home since a
few bits were from personal experiences.

They were the hardest to write. I
wouldn’t call them “psychological horror” since they’re just stone-cold thoughts from an external point of view, but it was really hard to write it down; subject my brain to pressure to write horrible stuff.

Partly the reason why I took it down.😔

Zara: So, why did you choose to have all four of the kids as viewpoint characters?

9W: Ah😀 this is a classic Heroes of Olympus trick.

I’m a fan of all things that Rick
Riordan put out; some more than others and I found it interesting how he narrated a story from Hazel, Percy and Frank’s POV’s (in Son of Neptune, that is) or Jason,
Piper and Leo. There is a lot of room to explore each character’s struggle and it just clicked, y’know?😏

Zara: Heroes of Olympus was good, I need to reread that soon…

Who would you grab through into your book and kill?😈

9W: This is such a tough question! I love my characters, no matter how stupid they are. So I’d either kill them all or kill none of them. All or nothing, lol.😂😂😂😂

Sophie: She'll rather have a massacre! I love blood!

Zara: Interesting.🤔

And who would you save if your characters were trapped in a burning building?

9W: Definitely Elias.

Luis, Murthy and Liz are too snobbish.

Elias’s just a pure soul trying to get through another day. And he’d do something with his aristocratic
power.

He’s capable of a good heart <3😀

-----------------------
Fun Question
-----------------------

Zara: What flavour of ice cream would you be?

9W: Not my words, but I genuinely took an ice-cream quiz for this question and I
got vanilla. I enjoy the simpler things in life, but I also appreciate a delightful party.
Like a balanced mess of a human for a “poetic” effect.

Zara: Any recommendations for our readers? Shout outs?

9W: Ooh! I have so many recommendations!😃

I highly insist you guys check out the SanctuaryCommunity on Wattpad.

Their members have amazing stories and have inspired me to take my writing to a higher level.

I implore you to check out their works if you’re looking for a mix of everything - action, sci-fi, adventure, romance, fantasy, high fantasy, contemporary, his-fic and mystery.

They’re exceptional, creative people and I wish them all the very best in their writing endeavours!❤

Zara: Thank you for appearing, and good luck with IP!

9W: Thank you for this opportunity even though I totally blew it lmao😂😃

I don’t know when IP’ll be back but hopefully I'd feel better about it to nurse it back to health.
