Adeline Santiago's POV

I come back from the warehouse more stressed than usual.

I have been looking for more leads on the person responsible for the near death of my brother and let's just say that the amount of people, I have beaten up and killed is...

Unorthodox.

I want answers and I want them now.

It turns out that Eleanor really is pregnant.

The DNA tests will be taken when the baby is more developed.

I wonder if she has told Elijah...

It has been a few weeks since I found out about Alfonzo.

I have been intentionally distant from Matéo, since his birthday is tomorrow.

I have a massive surprise set up for him and me being near him makes it hard to keep it away from him.

I walk into the house and go straight to the kitchen, to prepare dinner.

I start to play J hus: Dark Vadar

The beat booms through the kitchen, as I wash my hands and grab the stuff out of the fridge.

I cut up vegetables and I put them in a pan.

I end up making a stir fry and I leave it on the pan, to cook for a while.

Now to make up an excuse for getting Matéo out of the house...

The thought is distracted, when the man himself walks into the kitchen.

He walks up to me and hugs me from behind, planting a kiss on my cheek.

"Baby" He greets.

"How was work?" I ask.

"Good thank you" he responds, letting go of me.

The timer I set, pings signalling the food being cooked.

I turn to check on it and see that Matéo is already at it, scooping the food out onto two plates and I have to stop myself from giggling at the sheer concentration he is using at the simple task to make it perfect.

He sets the plates down and I grab some cutlery and hand him a pair, before sitting down.

I say a quick prayer, and then we start to eat.

When we are done we sit on the couch and cuddle, while watching Empire with Lucius having a moment with his sons.

We just talk about how our day went until the dreaded topic comes up.

"So what's our plan for my birthday tomorrow?" He asks.

Not a big deal, huh?

I shrug in response as I form a lie in my head.

"I was thinking of us just spending the day together, maybe let Joshua, Ricardo and Elijah take you out for a while" I tell him.

It's not a complete lie, but it will have to do.

"Hm, and what will you be doing all day?" He asks.

"I got some work to be doing tomorrow at the warehouse, so I'll meet you here, when you guys are done" I lie and bite the side of my lip.

He nods.

"Ok, baby thanks for not making this too much of a big deal" he says and he kisses my forehead.

I nod and smile to myself.

Aw, he won't even know what hit him.
