It came without warning. A thick, colorless fog descended upon Gamindustri as a whole, consuming everything in its reach. Any living thing engulfed by the fog would rapidly start to age and decay, having their life and youth sucked dry from them, leaving naught but empty, hollow husks.
It came to the Goddesses' attention that said fog would only affect mortals, as they, after all, can age.

Convinced that only they could put an end to this, the Goddesses and Candidates braved the fog, bent on erradicating whatever malignant force would be behind this.

They failed.

They vanished without a trace, engulfed by the fog.

Gamindustri was left without its protectors, completely at the fog's mercy. Its denizens would seek refuge within those areas left untouched by the fog, within the borders of each nation. They were surrounded, trapped like mere rats in a cage.

...But this was only the beginning of the end.

Amidst the swarming fog, unspeakable horrors started to emerge. Egregious and abhorrent creatures, looking to seize the leftovers of Gamindustri in a sadistic feast. The remaining denizens of Gamindustri tried everything they could to fend off the beasts... Yet they stood no chance, and ended up becoming their food instead.

Gamindustri was naught but a ravaged wasteland, a mockery of its former glory.

But yonder... A glimmer of hope. Perhaps... Just perhaps, heroes from other dimensions could hearken to Gamindustri's plight, and attempt to brave the fog, to succeed where the Goddesses have failed.

Will they succeed?

Or will they be just more dust and ashes on the mud?
