Panting, Artemis flew behind a pillar. Placing her feet on the marble floor, she closed her large, strong reptilian wings against her back. Sweat dampened her forehead. She was a hybrid. The most valuable property that anyone would ever want.

Sliding to the floor, she buried her eyes in her knees. The last few days have been a living nightmare. Her parents were wanting to sell her. She was nothing to them any longer. Nothing expect property they owned. They kept her chained up in the basement. She was a dragon hybrid. They feared her more than loved her.

Footsteps echoed somewhere within the darkened corridors. It was night time. She figured now was as good a time as ever to escape. As the footsteps grew louder, her heart quickened. She couldn't go back to the dungeon. She was meant to have a life not to be tried as an animal of burden.

As if the person knew where to find her, the footsteps quickened. Artemis held her breath. "Artemis?" A young voice called out. Letting out a sigh of relief, Artemis stood up and looked around the pillar. Her strawberry red hair fell in front of her violet colored elongated pupils. She loved that voice more than anything.

A human appeared in the moonlight. She looked down the darkened corridor. Opening her wings, Artemis made the red scales pulse red, summing her twin sister. A smile appeared on her face as she ran towards her. Once her sister reacher her, Artemis through her arms around her in a hug, "I love you, Lily" She sobbed, "I'm sorry, but I have to leave you."

"I'm not going to let you leave by yourself. We need to stay together."

"If Mom and Dad have anything to say about, we will never see each other again."

Lily's sapphire eyes shone in the darkness. She didn't have the wings nor covered in scales like she was, but she still could use dragon magic. Not to mention her eyes were reptilian with elongated pupils that were pointed on both ends.

The wind began to blow. Lily pulled away from her sister. She grabbed her hand as her falling tears cascaded down her porcelain cheeks. "We need to hurry." Artemis nodded and stretched her wings to size. With one mighty swoop of her wings, she wrapped her arms around her sister and soared into the air.
