Chapter 18

A/N: Hey Guys! There'll be some antagonists coming soon! Plus more drama!

Don't be sad, you guys should've known that all stories need a bad guy and at least some drama. So Beware, It's about to get real and this is only the beginning!

*Marinette's P.O.V*

Marinette walked towards the school, breathing in and out. It was her first time going to school since the reveal and she hoped nothing bad would happen today.

She walked inside and looked around, Coast clear, she thought, walking into the classroom. Marinette sat down in her usual seat next to Alya, staring at where Adrien was supposed to be.

Just as Marinette stood up to find him, the bell rang and she sat back down.

"Where is he?" Marinette muttered under her breath. "Where is who?" Alya asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

Ms. Bustier shushed Alya, who looked at Marinette curiously.

Where are you Adrien? Marinette thought, staring  into the air.

*Adrien's P.O.V*

Adrien ran into the classroom, "I'm here!"

Ms. Bustier looked at him curiously, "And where were you, Adrien?"

"I-I was..." Adrien looked around the room frantically searching for an answer. "I was heading to school and was halfway there until..."

"Until... I found a stray black kitten and took it home. By the time I came home, I realized I was late for school and ran as fast as I could to get here." Adrien said quickly.

"Alright," Ms. Bustier said. "Please bring this kitten of yours to school, tomorrow."

But I don't even have a black kitten! Adrien wanted to yell. It's Karma, isn't it?  He thought, For being late to school and lying.

Adrien sat down in the seat next to Nino who looked at him with pity. How was he going to bring his kitten to school when he didn't even own one?

Well, Adrien thought, That's what I get for lying. Now he had to think of how to bring a black kitten to class.

It was lunch time and Marinette went out of the classroom last, heading towards Adrien. He turned a corner, and Marinette followed, accidently bumping into Chloe.

"Oh, look, It's Maritrash," Chloe said. "Hi to you too, Chloe," Marinette mumbled.

"Oh, look, she just talked," Chloe said with a laugh. Marinette stared out to where Adrien was only moments before, longing to get away from Chloe. She stepped away from Chloe about to leave until Chloe grabbed her arm.

"Adrikins will never love someone like you," Chloe said. "Besides, he doesn't love you anyways. You're a pathetic Ladybug and person. You think you're so amazing, but you're actually not. You are just a piece of trash that everyone throws their pity at. Everyone including Adrien."

Marinette ripped Chloe's hand off of her arm and ran away, her eyes brimming with tears.

She ran down the hallway, running outside. She suddenly hit something hard. "Are you alright, Marinette?" Adrien asked, worried.

"I-I'm fine," Marinette said, running away from him. She heard his voice yell out her name, but wasn't sure if it was the wind or not.

Panting, Marinette found herself a small abandoned corner, sitting down with her head in between her knees, tears coming out of her eyes.

Chloe said harsh things, none of which bothered Marinette. But only one thing that Chloe said hurt her. Did Adrien actually love her back?

He had never noticed her, never really seen her, Marinette, until after the big reveal. Was it all a trick? Was their friendship a trick?

More tears came falling from Marinette eyes, maybe Adrien didn't love her back after all. It was only after he knew she was Ladybug that he started to hang around her.

An unbroken stream of tears came down Marinette's face, one thing was for sure, she felt broken. Truly, truly, broken.

*Adrien's P.O.V*

"Marinette!" Adrien called out at the running girl. What was wrong? Was she mad at him? Did she hate him?

He felt a hand on his shoulder. "Go after her, dude," Nino said reassuringly. Adrien nodded running into the direction Marinette went into.

"Good luck, dude," said Nino's voice. Thanks, Nino. Adrien thought. I need it.

*Nino's P.O.V*

Nino turned around to see Alya who was watching it all. "I better go after her," Alya said, about to go into the direction both Adrien and Marinette ran off into.

He grabbed Alya's arm, "Don't Alya. Sometimes you just have to stay put and let others deal with the rest."

Alya nodded. "You're right, Nino. I'm just worried about her."

"Me too, Alya. But Adrien will deal with it, he deals with a lot of things." Nino said, trying to reassure her.

Alya raised an eyebrow at the last part but said nothing. Even she knew that some things were not meant to be told in anyone's voice but the owner's.

Alya's spoke, interrupting Nino from his thoughts. "Do you ship Adrinette?" She asked curiously.

"Adrinette and Ladynoir all the way," Nino said with a laugh, fist-bumping Alya.

"She's so clueless," Alya muttered, loud enough for him to hear. "Then they'll be a perfect pair," Nino replied, staring off into the spot Adrien was earlier.

"Yup," Alya replied. "A perfect pair."

*Adrien's P.O.V*

Adrien turned a corner, spotting Marinette. Her head was in between her knees, and she was crying. His hand balled into a fist, His lady was crying and he wasn't there to stop it from happening.

"Marinette?" He said in a soothing voice, walking towards her. He was going to ask, Are you alright? but he could clearly see that she wasn't.

He went down to his knees, so his eyes could meet Marinette's.

"What happened?" Adrien asked, worried. "Do you hate me?" Marinette mumbled her head still in between her knees.

"Do you hate me?" What kind of question was that?

"Of course, not," He said. "Are you sure?" Marinette mumbled.

"Of course I am," Adrien replied. "How could I ever hate you?"

"You're kind, helpful, smart, brave, loyal, beautiful, courageous, generous, and sincere. In fact, the real question is, do you hate me?"

Marinette lifted her head up, her face red and wet with tears. "O-of c-course I d-don't hate you. You're smart, brave, kind, loyal, helpful, truthful, h-handsome, and funny."

He stood up, holding out his hand and Marinette took it, standing up. "Let's go to school then, Princess."

"W-wait," Marinette said. "What?" He asked, worried. "I-I can't go to school with my face like this," Marinette said, motioning towards her face.

Adrien chuckled. "Don't worry Purr-incess, you look paw-sitivly purr-fect." Marinette groaned.

"I'm still going to wash my face, though," Marinette said and looked around.

"Princess," Adrien said, stopping to look through his backpack. He pulled out an unused water bottle. "Just wash your face with this."

"With a water bottle?" Marinette said. "Every time I try that, I always end up with all that water spilling on me."

"Just put your hands into a bowl-like shape," Adrien said, carefully getting Marinette's hands into a bowl shape.

"When I pour the water down into your hands, you have to quickly splash that water onto your face."

"Ready?" Adrien asked. Marinette nodded. Adrien poured down the water into her hands and Marinette did exactly as he said, splashing the water onto her face.

"See?" Adrien said with a slight laugh. "All better."

He frowned. "What?" Marinette asked nervously. "Your face is all wet, you can't go into class like that." He replied. He took off his white jacket and handed it to Marinette.

"Here, dry your face off with this," He said.

"B-But I'll ruin it," Marinette replied.

"No you won't," Adrien said. "It's just water."

Reluctantly, Marinette dried her face off with his jacket and handed it back to him. Adrien put his white jacket back on with a grin.

"We both forgot to eat lunch." He stated. "Let's go into the bakery then," Marinette said.

"Shall we Milady?" Adrien asked, holding out his hand. "You bet, Kitty," Marinette replied, taking it.

And off the pair went, walking to the bakery hand in hand.
