Chapter 4:
>Later that night<
~Alex's P.O.V~
"Take care you your sister."
"Don't let your sister get into trouble."
"Protect her always."
These words sped through and repeated in my mind almost 24/7. Ever since Mom and Dad died in that fire, I've been the only one able to take care of Cassie. I know she's probably capable of watching herself, but I can't help it. She's the only real family I've got left.
Which of course brings us to our current situation. There were a million freaking monsters out there, and Cassie wanted to go out there to kill some "for fun."
"C'mon, Alex. Pweaaaaseeeee?" she asked, putting on those puppy dog eyes that got me almost every time.
"No. I don't want you to get hurt," I said. She kept asking, and I kept denying. When she finally realized that it wasn't gonna happen, she just sat on the couch and stared at me with her big brown eyes. Minutes passed, and I finally gave in. "Okay."
She smiled, hugged me, and ran into her room to grab the iron sword she had found in her drawer. I don't even know how that got there, but to be honest, it's pretty freaking cool.
As Cassie went outside, I grabbed a sword myself and followed her out.

~Cassie's P.O.V~
Finally! Some fresh air! Well, it was sorta fresh, if you took away the smell of zombies smacking us in the face. But not even that ruined this. Right when I stepped out of our house, I ran up to the first zombie and sliced its head off with my new iron sword. No wonder no one could beat these things. They had the wrong weapons! I wonder if other people randomly got weapons in their houses too.
Alex and I had fun murdering mobs until the sun came up. We walked back inside, and I plopped down on the couch. "Omg that was awesome! Do you think anyone else got swords and stuff like we did?"
"I don't know. Maybe," Alex replied, taking a seat beside me.
As if someone somewhere heard me, my cell phone rang. I picked it up and answered, "Hello?"
"Dude. You and Alex get on Skype now. We gots to talk." It was Haley, and she sounded both serious and excited at the same time.
---
~No one's P.O.V~
They were all on Skype once again, but not to play a Minecraft mini game. This time it was just to talk, face-to-face. Or should I say, face-to-face-to-face-to-face-to-face-to-face-to-face-face.
"Let me start off this conversation by saying, WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!" Haley yelled. "Okay, you guys can talk now."
"I GOTS A DIAMOND SWORDDDDD!" Rosie exclaimed, waving it around and almost hitting her brother, who sat quietly behind her.
"Put that away!" her brother said.
"Shut up, Finn." (I just freaking love that name :3)
"Guys, lets be serious for once," said Eva, laughing a bit.
So, trying as hard as they could to be calm, they all assessed the situation. Video games had come to life and were killing the world's entire population. From what they had seen, it seemed like only certain people found mysterious weapons from different games in their homes. After discussing that further, they realized that only gamers were the ones with those weapons. At least something made sense. Kinda. Then they went on attempting to figure out how to stop this whole thing. The one idea that kept coming up was an army of gamers. But even that felt impossible.
But what they all could agree on was that they needed to do something. They couldn't just sit back and wait for the monsters to leave. Besides, how hard can defeating evil be?
---
Days passed without any answers to how to save the world from this apocalypse. And nothing was getting better.
Creatures began to evolve. They got stronger and smarter. Nothing died in the daylight anymore. They were able to find ways to get into people's houses and other buildings. The entire human population was shrinking rapidly by the millisecond, and no one could do anything about it. People began to predict when the human race would become extinct. What were most people's estimates? One month.
