School Trip Time / 1st Period

"As you know, next week is our two-night school trip to Kyoto. Not to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but you're still on duty." Karasuma-sensei spoke to us sternly.

"You mean we can assassinate him there?"

"Precisely. Kyoto is far larger and more complex than this school, and you'll be moving in groups that he'll be following. It's an ideal location for snipers. The government has already arranged for sharpshooters to join you. If they succeed, they'll share the ten billion yen based on the degree of their contribution. Be sure to pick assassination-friendly tour routes."

"Yes, sir."

We entered the building and I went to my desk. I looked up from my notes when footsteps had stopped in front of me. Shiota and Kayano were there.

"Do you want to join our group Yuuki-chan?"

They seemed hesitant to talk to me. That was my greatest skill; driving and keeping people away.

"Why not."

I walked over to their group which consisted of Shiota, Kayano, Kanzaki, Okuda, Sugino, and Akabane.

"Hey Yuuki-chan." Akabane had a mischievous aura around him. "Say if you were to get into a fight what would be the best course of action afterwards?"

"I would make them swear to silence them. For good measure I'd find something embarrassing to blackmail them."

"Auh wait don't tell me! Nagisa! It's another Karma!" Sugino pointed at me.

"What?" I understood what words he was saying but what they meant put together escaped my understanding.

Suddenly I remembered a place in Kyoto I needed to visit.

"Besides that..." I grabbed a map and pointed at an inn. "This is the inn we're staying at, right?"

Akabane looked over my shoulder at the map before confirming that I was correct.

"Okay... That's good." Things began to fall into place nicely. "There's a shop right next to that I've been meaning to go to."

"Do you think we please stop by?"

"That's up to Karasuma-sensei... And I don't see him agreeing."

"Okay."

"Aw! Kara-chan!" Kayano latched around my neck pulling me into a unexpected hug.

I tensed at the surprise attack and the sudden use of my first name.

"You're too stiff! You're just like Karasuma-sensei."

"S-sorry I'm not use to people besides my family hugging me."

"Okay, let's figure out where we're going to go!"

There was a sudden commotion that caused most of the class to freak.

"One for each of you!" Koro-sensei had came in with giant books. Five inch thick books.

"What are they?"

"School trip guidebooks."

"So heavy!"

"They're practically dictionaries!"

"Every sightseeing spot illustrated, the top 100 souvenirs, and travel self-defense how-to's from square one to practical use! I stayed up all last night making them! This first edition comes with a papercraft model of Kinkakuji!"

Why did he think it was necessary to add so much information...

Later

"So Class A through D ride in first class. While Class E rides coach. Whatever..." I boarded not caring what everyone really had to say. On the train Ms. Irina was all depressed because apparently she had to change outfits.

By the window was Sugino and Kayano. Next to Sugino was Kanzaki, and Shiota with Kayano. Next to the aisle was Akabane and I. Okuda had volunteered to set with the teachers. I tried to insist that I'd be with the teachers, but she was adamant about me sitting with my classmates.

"The train's left the station... but where's Koro-Sensei?" Shiota began looking around for our yellow teacher.

"There." I said matter-of-factly and pointed at the window.

"Woah!" Shiota and Sugino were shocked at seeing the octopus at the window. "Why are you stuck to the window, Koro-Sensei?!"

"Well, I was buying snacks at the station and was late boarding, so I'll tag along like this till the next station. Oh, and don't worry- this camouflage just makes it look like my clothes and luggage are stuck onto the train."

"That's not normal in the slightest!"

After Koro-Sensei Boarded

"Say Yuuki-chan, how come you're always so straight face?" Kayano scooted closer to me.

"Yea! You're so distant it makes it kinda hard to start a conversation with you... That and we know basically nothing about you."

My group members, or the ones that were sitting here, leaned in expecting some answer. I tilted my head and questioned the reason myself.

"I don't know... I just am."

"Yea right!" Kayano puffed up her cheeks and stared me down. "Is that you're secretly a super girly girl? And that you're too afraid to show it?"

"No. I don't know why I'm like this. I have nothing to hide. If I knew why I was like this I would tell you. "

Kayano and the others leaned back and sighed in disappointment. The mood felt uncomfortable. I I assumed to break the awkward air Kanzaki smiled and spoke up.

"Hey, I'm going on a drink run. Who wants what?"

"I'll join you."

"I'll come too!" Kayano joined us as well.

While walking we bumped into some high school kids. "Oh, excuse me."

Chills ran down my spine after passing the high schoolers. I wonder why...

After we got off Koro-Sensei revealed another weakness. "So he gets all sick and groggy on bullet trains and buses?"

"So he has motion sickness..."

I turned my attention to my fretful classmate who was looking through her bag.

"Kanzaki-chan? Did you find you're itinerary yet?"

"Nnno... I know I put it in my bag... Did I drop it somewhere?"

Next Day

"Wow, Gion is practically deserted this far inside." We turned down an ally. I couldn't see anyone besides us.

"Yeah, with all these places that turn away newcomers, no one much comes here just to wander around, and you don't need a nice unobstructed view. That's why I put it on my ideal course: it's perfect for an assassination."

"That's our Kanzaki! You've really done your homework! This is where we'll do the deed, then!"

"Perfect' is right. Why are ya walkin' around somewhere that's ripe for a kidnappin'?"

My eyes snapped towards the group of high schoolers who had appeared before us. Scuffling and snickering drew closer behind us. High school students blocked both of our escape routes.

Weren't these the high schoolers we bumped into on the train?

"Something tells me you fellows aren't here for sightseeing."

"Well, we ain't here for you. Hand over the girls and get lo-" Akabane lunged at the guy and threw him face first into the ground.

"See, Nagisa? Fighting's no problem at all when there's no witnesses."

"W-whoa!"

"I'm gonna stab ya!"

Another delinquent ran forward, knife in hand, heading for Akabane.

"Stab me? As if."

"No! What-" The guys behind us grabbed Kayano and Kanzaki. I couldn't see Okuda anymore. Had she been taken already?

"Hello there little Lady." A high schooler loomed over me. Everything felt like it stopped or slowed down incredibly.

I tried to run, but a hand grabbed a fistful of my hair. Yanking me back I stumbled into someone's grasp. I struggled to no avail.

"Yuuki-chan!" I heard Shiota shout my name. Akabane turned sharply towards my direction.

"Get it now?" A guy hit Akabane from behind and the others began kicking him.

"Stop!

Anger bubbled up inside me. I bit down on the guy's arm and broke free. Swooping up a metal pipe on the way I slammed it down on one of the guys' head. He fell but another turned their attention towards me and backhanded me.

I stumbled backwards and slipped on a can. The world tilted and I heard a loud thud before blinding pain.

What could I have done? Me, a small weak junior-high school student, going against a group of guys. What a joke...

The high schooler who had grabbed me before appeared. I tried to push him away but I was too weak. Then I slipped into unconsciousness.

A Few Hours Later

Gently I opened my eyes, the light was blinding, and everyone's talking seemed like shouting.

I was laying on my side besides Kanzaki and Kayano who were also tied up. Okuda wasn't there meaning she escaped. My eyes darted around trying to get a grasp on my surroundings.

We were in an abandoned building, us girls say in a dark corner in front of a couch. There were quite a few high schoolers standing around conversing with each other.

One of them stepped towards us and began talking.

"I called up our buddies. Got everything ready for a little commemorative photo shoot, too. Make as much noise as you want- no one'll hear you here."

It felt like he was talking to Kayano and Kanzaki instead of me... Could he have not realized I was awake yet?

The guy continued to spout more nonsense about have seeing Kanzaki before. Talking about how he saw her in an arcade, and how that she disappeared before they could kidnap her.

Kanzaki then filled the rest of the blanks. She use to dress differently and went to an arcade to play games and all. She had a really strict father and just wanted to get away from it.

"Whyncha hang out with us? We're totally anti-titles here! We trash those elitist bastards. Or maybe just put 'em back the way they were, like? Oh, yeah, we done puh-lenty of that kinda stuff."

"You're the worst." Kayano don't...

"You some kind of elitist lookin' down at us like that? Huh?" He picked Kayano by the neck. Her feet couldn't touch the ground.

Something inside me snapped. I had seen something like this before.

It felt like I was slapped with a flashback. Blood dripped from a boy who was being held the same as Kayano. A man dressed in all black was choking him.

I blinked and the image was gone. Something inside me felt like it was taking all my air. I didn't like it. I didn't understand what I had seen or why I was reacting this way. This was fear, wasn't it? No... Terror would be a better fit.

I was terrified of the memory and for Kayano's sake. I couldn't lay here silent, watching it happen again.

"Leave her alone!" My voice came out hoarse and much quieter than I expected. It didn't matter because the high schooler still heard me.

"Awake now are we?" He dropped Kayano and came over to me. He squatted next to me. Suddenly he pulled my hair upright. I yelped in pain. "Don't tell me you're little elitist bitch too."

I glared at him. "Elitist? I wouldn't call myself that. I'm not lowlife scum like you either." He scoffed and tossed me back down.

He stood up and began walking away.

"Eh? Not gonna deny it?"

I mocked the thugs just as Akabane mocked others. It must of gotten under their skin cause the guy sharply turned and placed one of his feet into my gut. I coughed and curled against my will. I looked up and gritted my teeth, and then smiled again throwing another insult.

"Resorting to violence against an unarmed junior-high schooler? Wow your so~ strong."

Another strong quick kick was placed before he backed off again. Kayano and Kanzaki squirmed in fear watching my stupid plan to keep the delinquent's attention of them.

Somewhere else, nearby, in the building a door opened and scuffling drew closer.

"Oh, that's them. Our photographers have arr-"

"School Trip Guidebook, page 1243:
'What to Do When a Group Member Has Been Abducted.' "If you have no leads on the perpetrator, first use the content of your conversation and any verbal quirks to determine if he/she is from the local area. If not, and if he/she was wearing a school uniform, see page 1334." "You may be up against another student in a school trip, stirring up trouble."

Shiota and the others waltz through the door. Who ever the guard was probably beaten.

"You're here!"

"I-it's you! How'd you know we were here?!"

"Being unfamiliar with the area, the perp can't go to far after the abduction, but will choose a secluded spot nearby. If this is the case, see page 134. My Mach 20 bird's-eye-view map of abductor hideouts may help."

Shiota was holding the guide read out Koro-Sensei's very carefully written directions.

"That guidebook's amazing! That's the perfect way to foil an abduction!"

"I guess we should take it with us after all!"

"That's no guidebook I ever heard of!" The delinquents chimed.

Stepping forward a familiar redhead glared. His normal, mischievous, disposition had been discarded for something else.

None of my classmates scared me, and neither did Akabane. But... The person in front of me wasn't the one I knew. His eyes only knew bloodlust.

"So? What's it going to be, fellows? You've already done so much! You'll be spending the rest of your trip... In the hospital."

"Hmph! You junior-high brats, actin' all tough... Those'll be the buddies I called. They're the worst badasses you Goody Two-Shoes have ever- The w-worst-- whaaat?!"

Behind my classmates appeared the friends of the delinquents sorely beaten up.

"No badasses here. I took care of them all."

"Koro-Sensei!"

"Sorry I'm late. I was letting you handle this while I searched elsewhere with a fine-tooth comb."

Koro-Sensei was wearing some sort of black vale trying to hide his face...

"And, uh, why are you hiding your face like some stagehand?"

"This is an act of violence, and I'm afraid you'll associate this face with me being violent." So he worries about keeping up appearances. "Nagisa, you had the guidebook, so I could be alerted right away."

"Th-this is your teacher? Bullshit! Who's he think he is, lookin' like that?! "

"Bullshit," you say? That's my line." Koro-sensei face turned pitch-black... I'm guessing that means he's pissed. "Don't be touching my students with your filthy hands, slow enough for a fly to land on them."

"So even teachers are special at elite schools... You're lookin' down on us 'cause of your rank, aren't you? Makin' fun of me for bein' a stupid high-schooler!"

"We're not elite. They're students at a famous school, that's true. But they're considered the school outcasts. Their class name is the object of discrimination. And yet, they take on so many things with a positive attitude. They wouldn't drag others down with them-- not like you. It has nothing to do with our school or my title. Be they in a clear stream or muddy river, the fish who swim forward turn out the finest.

Now then, students, let's take care of them. We'll teach them a physical lesson on the fundamentals of school trips."

Every one appeared behind them and took the dictionary of a guide and slammed it down on their heads. I watched as they fell and I could feel the smile creeping on my face.

I felt the ropes around my wrist loosen. Koro-Sensei must have done it...

Gently I forced myself to sit up. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a hand coming towards me. Involuntarily I flinched and turned my head away. The hand rested on my shoulder.

"Hey..." A familiar voice spoke up.

I looked up and locked my eyes with mercury-gold ones. Akabane's face was soft with worry.

"Come on..." Gently he helped me up. "Let's go back to the hotel."

"Okay." I mumbled quietly under my breath.
