Volume 1 {Chapter 1: Emerald Forest}
Emerald Forest. Well known for its Grimm infestations and initiation for Beacon Academy students. It was a lush forest, born from the ruins of old and left forgotten.
The leaves on the ground that fell from the trees swayed left and right, creating a rupture among the peace in the forest. It kept swaying back and forth in disarray with winds picking up. A glyph appeared above the trees as its sheer appearance made branches shake violently.
Coming out of the glyph was a young male with a sword and shield on his back. Y/N was still knocked out from the travel so he could be seen sleeping as his figure slowly drop from the glyph and floated up there for a while.
...before letting him fall to the ground, hard.
"Ow. Couldn't let me sleep for a while... longer?" As he finished his sentence, Y/N looked at his surroundings to see a forest around him. "Where... am I?" Checking to see if his weapons were on his back and if his clothes had changed, which were not, Y/N assessed the location of where he was.
"Alright. So I'm lost in a random forest, which I assume is the Emerald Forest, and have nowhere to go other than forward. Maybe there's a compass?" In his field of vision, on the top lies a compass. A straight line with the symbol of each direction on where to go. "Sweet. Now I can't get lost so, where is Beacon?"
With a random direction picked, Y/N set off. It was probably mid-day of how high the sun is shining so Y/N should have enough time to find the academy before nightfall and if he ever encounters any Grimm, that's where his weapons come in play.
While walking, he wondered if he should tell Ozpin about his situation and mission, to kill both him and Salem to end the endless war. Surely Ozpin would want in since he really wants to end but a desperate man will do anything with nothing to lose, so maybe Ozpin will lie about it and will end it himself but fail. Thinking about Salem using the power of a god made shivers go down in Y/N's spine as the destruction would be imminent. Not to mention that this particular god is the messenger of the gods so interdimensional travel wouldn't be out of his league.
Y/N shook off the idea and focused on finding Beacon so that he would have an idea of where to go.
He just hopes his mission would be taken lightly.

Ozpin sighed at his desk atop of Beacon Tower, the gears ticking in rythem to soothe a headsche he has to deal with. Like last year, Ozpin combed through each students applicants to ensure that the best of the best Hunters and Huntresses attend. No room for the weak and spineless.
However, it seems the roster has increased up to 20%, especially for a certain rumor that a champion and heiress will attend Beacon Academy so now he has to find the people who are willing to attend to those who want to see the two duke it out.
"I swear, children need more control." Moments like these are what made him really grateful he hired Glynda. That woman can instantly stop a problem with just her stare only, combine that with her semblance and looks then you get Headmistress of Beacon.
A small laugh did wonders to ease his tension and so, he continued on. Glynda and the rest of the staff were currently enjoying their monthly break that happens every decade so Ozpin is left to sort out the applicants.
Fighting off the urge to sigh, he tended to his mug filled with coffee. "Ugh, instant brew." Ozpin immediately regretted his decision to drink the murk filled water. While there was nothing wrong with a cup of brewed beans, the taste is what separates the good and the worst. And Ozpin has had enough of the stupid contraption that is instant coffee. "At this point, I may as well open a cafe. Or hire a personal barista." Shaking his head, he persevered the taste and needed the extra energy needed for the final push.
That was when his personal scroll vibrated on the table. Ozpin stopped working on the paper and picked it up, opening the device by pulling the two ends pieces. A holographic screen came to life and showed Ozpin what it wanted him to see. It showed a video feed on one of the cameras in Emerald Forest, the kind used for keeping track of students for initiation. Ozpin was intrigued and confused as to why one of the cameras would suddenly show him this when there was-
"Hah!" A grunt made its way to his ears as the feed turned to see a Grimm launched to the side and with its head gone. "Come on, just let...me...through, damnit!" Another grunt was made and a crack was heard. "Get off!" Knowing that the voice is human, Ozpin moved the cameras there to see what has happened and saw him. A teen, likely aged 18 to how tall he is, wearing a black jacket and jeans along with a blue shirt. The teen in question was fighting a horde of Grimm using nothing but a steel sword and an iron shield and no armor. This made Ozpin's eyes bulge as a lone citizen, may be trained due to how well he's keeping himself alive, is stuck in Emerald Forest without reinforcements.
At first, Ozpin thought the teen mistakenly made a wrong turn and to make himself lost in the Emerald Forest but the skills the young man displayed were certainly eye-catching. His method was stunning the opponent first then move in the kill, a common method but the teen displayed it very thoroughly with how fast the teen dispatched the numerous Grimm.
As the teen cut through the Grimm, Ozpin saw that the young man was fighting without aura. A detail he forgot about citizens. That fear expressed itself when a Beowulf got a lucky shot and swiped at him. Normally, the wound of a normal Beowulf would be life-threatening but it seems the teen is tougher than he looks but is worn out by the attack. He continued on, but exhausting his energy.
Memories came flooding in from Ozpins head, about how 1st-year students would venture deep into Emerald Forest all because they want to become better. Huntsmen sent by Ozpin to find Salem only to die and leave behind grieving families and sending those kids to kill Grimm because they want revenge. Now, a young trained teen is by himself, killing Grimm because he has nothing to lean on. Old as he is, Ozpin held a soft spot to those who would willingly sacrifice themselves to save others and now, he can save them.
"Don't worry, help is coming." Turning off the feed and calling a pilot at the hanger, Ozpin walked quickly to the elavator while keeping an eye on the teen. Hoping he would get there before the Grimm devour another lost soul. An experienced one at that.

'That will definetly get his attention.' Y/N thought as he slashed another Ursa on its knees before stabbing its throat. 'The cameras will let him know of my situation then he will help. I just wish he would get here sooner.'
Y/N jumped back when a Beowulf felt lucky and decided to take a strike at him when he hit nothing. With a distance set, Y/N jumped back with surprising effort and bashed the Grimm with his shield, stunning it for an upward strike to the head. Another Grimm growled from behind and Y/N dodged at the last second to the right to see what attacked him.
'A Boarbatusk. Heh, funny. I was expecting a King Taijutu or a Deathstalker.' The Grimm ran straight first to a tree, stunning it as Y/N dashed for the kill.
But a tail reached out to him and smacked away Y/N before he could have the chance. Y/N slowly stood from his position to see the tail of a Deathstalker slowly approaching him. "Me and my big mouth." Standing up, barely, Y/N put his shield forward and his sword behind. He still had some stamina left so he will have to end this, now.
'{Charge}' Feeling his muscles bulging with the power-up, Y/N got ready for a chance to strike. With {Charge} cast, his attack power will double but will only last one strike so he hopes to finish it with the Deathstalker.
As the scorpion Grimm walked closer, Y/N stepped back with a tree behind. Knowing the Grimm can feel fear, Y/N made some of his show. Making the Deathstalker crawl towards him faster and other Grimm as well. 'That's right you dumb creatures, come a bit more.' Y/N has one shot to finish this so he has to make this count.
As each Grimm inched closer, Y/N breathed in...
...
...
...
... and breathed out, glaring at the very close Grimm.
"{Heat Wave}!" Y/N spun around towards the Grimm, his blade burning in red flames. In quick succession, the blade made its way to the Deathstalker, as it didn't react fast enough to the strike, and got its eyes blinded. The flame went right through it, as well as the other Grimm around the stronger Grimm.
The flames cut through all of them, leaving them still as statues. Y/N fell to his side as he saw the Deathstalker and the other Grimm fall to the ground with a sounding thud. Their bellies, or in the Deathstalker's case, head, were cut vertically as the top halves fell to the ground.
"Phew, that... was.... great." Y/N huffed from his shaky breath as he calmed his raging heart. "Now, I better...stay awake..... unless the damn.... cliche happens.....again." Dropping his shield and sword, he put his back on a tree and looked to the sky.
Hearing an engine roar, Y/N can see what is making the noise and smiled internally.
A Bullhead landed near him as Y/N sat up from his position, grabbing his sword and shield and sheathing them.
When it did, Y/N smiled when he saw the doors open and see Headmaster Ozpin himself
As Y/N smiled, he can feel his energy leaving him and was fading to be knocked out. His legs gave out but before Y/N touched the ground, he felt he was carried by Ozpin when he saw the man holding his chest.
Y/N wanted to say his thanks but his energy was already gone so he went sleeping before Ozpin can question him.

When the Bullhead finally reached the teens location, its guns were ready to spray bullets at the Grimm cornering the young man. Ozpin had his face glued to the screen to know the teens situation. 'Not good.' Were his thoughts when a sudden Deathstalker joined in the fray. Its stinger bashed the teen to a tree and was surrounded with Grimm. The teen did recover but he's losing ground, and fast so he put his shield up first and his sword by his side.
Ozpin grew anxious as he was already grieving for another death of a potential student. "Hurry, I can't lose him."
"Copy, Headmaster." The pilot's voice echoed on his earpiece as the Bullhead rapidly approached the location.
Ozpin looked at the screen once more to see that status and saw the young man went into a stance. He closed his eyes and breathed a good intake of air. Ozpin thought he was giving up to see how calm he was, to fight to the last breath. 'No... Damnit.' The Grimm inched closer as one of the Deathstalker's claws raised it up high, ready to squash the teen before-
"Coming up on the LZ, spraying in 3...2...-"
"{Heat Wave}!" A sudden shout made Ozpin's eyes wide. The teen used his sword and probably a Fire Dust to cut a wave of fire upon the Grimm. That singular strike made its way to all the Grimm around him, thus all dead. Ozpin sighed a breath of relief knowing that the teen is safe. But what was that move he did? The camera didn't pick up any Aura so it definitely wasn't his semblance. So It must've been Dust but there wasn't any fire on the bodies, just a clean cut. He will question the teen later. However, it seems that the attack took a toll on the teen as he fell to his sides, still alive but very exhausted.
"Landing on the LZ. Your up, Headmaster." The pilot instructed and Ozpin complied. When the Bullhead landed, his first sight was the still evaporating Grimm.
'A clean cut.' He inspected the bodies before he made his way to the young man. But the young man decided to take initiative and walked up to him but collapsed when he made his way to him. Ozpin caught the exhausted teen before he can fall and saw him smile before passing out.
'That smile... It almost looks...' Shaking his head of any negative thoughts, Ozpin carried the teen in his arms and walked back to the Bullhead. 'I can already imagine Glynda's scolding.'
Smiling at the dark joke, he closed the door on the Bullhead as it flew off to Beacon.

When Y/N woke up, he first felt tired. Tired and exhausted, probably from the numerous effort he had to make from the constant fight and hits he had to tank to finish the fight. That and probably he used a move that took too much strain on his body. His first sight was a bright light up top. When he moved to the side, he saw an IV machine there. Following the wires to his arms, he looked at his waist to see a blanket.
'OK, so I must have passed out when Ozpin came and picked me up. Then took me to a Medical Bay in Beacon, which is where I am.' The exhaustion was probably his body tanking hits that normally should have killed him. 'That's what I get for not noticing that attack. Hopefully, I can unlock my Aura before continuing on.'
The door to the room opened and in came Ozpin himself, holding a mug on one hand and his cane on the other. When his eyes came in contact with his, he smiled and made his way towards him.
"I didn't expect to see you up so soon." The Headmaster said as he took a nearby seat to his bed. "How are you feeling, young man?"
Glancing at his arms and position in bed, Y/N turned to Ozpin. "Well, to be honest. Exhausted."
Laughing lightly, Ozpin continued. "That's to be expected when Grimm decided to attack a civilian."
'Time to set this in motion.' "Grimm? Is that what they are called?" Scrunching his face, Y/N acted, tried to remember what they look like.
The plan is simple; Y/N will act like a lost victim, a soldier lost in another world, to be his cover and alibi. If all goes well, Y/N can use his cover to try and help Ozpin in dealing with Salem. Not to mention that he intended to use his that attack to attract Ozpin's attention for a potential student. What better way to enroll in an academy is to flex on your skills a bit.
Ozpin took on a face of surprise as he leaned forward a bit while drinking his coffee. "You... don't know the Grimm?"
'Got'em' Y/N internally smirked as he continued on. "Y-Yeah. Wh-Who are you?"
Ozpin coughed a bit before presenting himself. "Well, my name is Headmaster Ozpin of Beacon. You know Beacon, right?"
"Well, the way you pronounced it, it kinda sounds like a place but no. I have never heard of this 'Beacon'."
"I see..." Ozpin leaned back on his chair as he sipped on his coffee. Breathing out, he brought out his scroll and connected it to a nearby holo-screen near Y/N to play a video. "Tell me, who trained a citizen like you to fight?"
Looking at his screen, Y/N widened his eyes as the whole fight took place on it. Deciding to not feign ignorance, he gave an answer that was technically true. "I... don't know. I guess I was working with instinct." Not bad but not true. Yes, he did see many moves and trained mentally, especially back in his 'child' phase but he wasn't trained properly so that entire fight was pure instinct.
"Instinct?" Ozpin can already guess what the child's story was. Trained at a young age, then lost his memory in the Emerald Forest. "Then how did you materialized dust to such conventional means?" Ozpin played the video further to where he used {Heat Wave} to kill all the Grimm. "We didn't find any scorch marks in the bodies but the color is there. Is that your semblance?"
"Semblance? Dust? I don't understand." Gripping his head in faked pain, Y/N shook it off. "What's going on? Am I in trouble?"
Ozpin sighed and shook his head. "No, you're not." 'Where's Glynda when you need her?' He could just call Glynda back but he knew better than to interrupt her needed break. "What's your name, young man?" With nothing to go on, Ozpin may as well get this over with.
"Its... Y/N. Y/N L/N."
Nodding with his answer, Ozpin stood up from his seat and walked to the door. "The doctor said it will take another day for you to recover. Rest well."
Y/N nodded and was left alone once more.
A few moments later, Y/N sighed in relief. "Damn, I didn't think it would work." Muttering to himself, he laid his head on the pillow behind him. 'May as well check what loot I got. {Inventory}.'
5,000$
{[Charge]}, {[Focus]}
5 Skill Point
(Blueprint)
...
Destiny Spear, Grimoire {[UNDERLEVELED]} (Minimum: Learn Megidola)
...
...
Z-Target
...
Y/N looked at it with a satisfying smile. The {Z-Target} will definitely be useful for fighting numerous enemies. But was confused about the {Grimoire} and it said Y/N has to learn {Megidola} so he will have to wait a bit. But one thing did grab his attention.
Materializing the {Blueprint}, a thick blue paper scrolled up appeared in front of him. Opening the paper, Y/N was surprised to see nothing written on it. "What the-" Y/N was suddenly cut off when the {Blueprint} turned to dust.
The dust then went to his head as Y/N had a sudden migraine. Grasping his head in pain, it felt like he knew how to construct a weapon. Like a glove.
But as soon as it happened, it disappeared. Shaking off the after-effects, Y/N saw a familiar pop-up.
USER CAN NOW CREATE {Gauntlet} REQUIRED: 3 Skill Points
Tilting his head in confusion, Y/N left the alert alone and rested for a bit. Deciding he has had enough for today, he let sleep consume him.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Whoa." Y/N has felt that he has said the word enough times right now but he couldn't help it upon the sight.
"Yes, Beacon Academy is the pride of Vale and one of the most prestigious combat school in Remnant." Ozpin huffed his chest in pride as, once again, his school made newcomers jaw drop.
"R-Right. And Remnant is the name of this world we're standing on?" Y/N asked as Ozpin walked to the tower with him trailing behind.
"Correct. Come with me so that I can enroll you in."
Today was the day Y/N was released from the Medical Ofiice in Beacon and Ozpin was there at the exit. Ozpin told Y/N to follow him to the front gate of Beacon to get aa proper introduction of the land. Along the way, Ozpin told Y/N that in 1 month's time will be the start of the new school year so that leaves plenty of time to teach Y/N all of the necessities he needs to start living in Beacon.
When they made it in, Ozpin and Y/N went inside an elevator to the top floor. Along the way, Y/N asked the Headmaster. "Oh, where's Anubis and Icaros?"
Ozpin looked at Y/N for a moment before he remembered. "Ah, you mean your weapons. I put them in a Weapon Locker. Don't worry, I'll give you the codes for them later."
Y/N nodded at that when a pop-up appeared in front of him.
USER HAS USED UPGRADE ON 'Anubis' & 'Icaros'
When the pop-up appeared, Y/N glanced at Ozpin for a reaction but didn't see anything. So to Y/N, it means that anything related to his {Gamer} ability was only made for him to see only. Which made him sigh in relief, internally.
'I guess I didn't name them yet so that's why they made that announcement.' Y/N thought as the door to the elevator in-front opened. Dismissing the pop-up, Y/N allowed Ozpin to go first then followed closely.
The office of the Headmaster was spacious with a green and dark interior, a feeling he can guess is the favorite color of Ozpin. Gears around it ticked in succession with time and gave the room some sort of ominous feeling to it.
"Y/N." Ozpin's vice snapped Y/N out of his staring and walked to him. Ozpin was sitting behind a very hi-tech desk, even Y/N can admit that he wanted this desk. "You like it?" Stopping himself from staring, Y/N blushed at that as he scratched behind his head.
"It's not every day you see a cool desk like yours, Headmaster Ozpin."
"Hehehe, I suppose that is true. I had it custom made from a friend in Atlas." Nodding along, Y/N stood in front of the desk as Ozpin grabbed something from it. "Here you are. Come here, Y/N."
Y/N walked to the desk as Ozpin gave him a closed Scroll. Confused, Y/N took it to get a good feel from it. It felt like what a smartphone would feel like along with its weight so there's no qualm with it. "What is it?"
"That is your Scroll. You can think of it as a personal device. We'll get to the functions later but I need you to sign these papers to ensure your enrollment."
"Like, right now?" Y/N asked because he thought he has to do something of significance to get into a prestigious academy. "No test, or-or combat something?"
Ozpin smiled and shook his head in denial. "There is no need. You have already proven your worth when you took on those Grimm singlehandedly and with only minor injuries. It would be foolish of me to not enroll you in Beacon. Your academics will come later but for now, paperwork."
Nodding, Y/N put the Scroll in his pocket and went along. But he was smiling along.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Congratulations, Mr. L/N. Welcome to Beacon." Ozpin organized the stack of papers and put them away. "I'll send your student ID to your scroll so you should have no problem goiong to your dorm. Your scroll should also contain your weapon locker number."
Feeling his scroll to vibrate, he checked his dorm number. '512.' Swiping the screen another number appeared which is his weapon locker. '870.' "Thank you, sir. I won't let you down."
"I know you won't, Y/N." Ozpin smiled warmly as a clock ticked in time. "Look at the time fly. I think we have done enough. You are free for the afternoon."
Y/N said his thanks and made his way to the elevator. 'Mission Accomplished.' And punched to the lower floors.
