Chapter 27
Evanee had explained to her aunt why she was going to Homecoming with someone who was not her boyfriend and as soon as she did, Gemma was making huge arrangements.
In her last three years of high school, Evanee had never attended a school dance and Gemma was ecstatic hearing about this.
"Okay. First we need to get the dress. This is just Homecoming so we're getting those cute dresses that flare out and go down to your knees and I want something white, which means David will have to wear a white tie. Actually, invite David over," Gemma rambled on. "I'm so excited."
Not wanting to spoil her aunt's mood, the green eyed girl called David over. It didn't exactly matter to her that her aunt wanted to plan this out and if it made her happy, she would go along with it.
She answered the door as soon as she heard the doorbell ring and was surprised to see all of her friends at the door. "You do know I only called David, right?"
"That's why we came. You know a good friend would invite everyone over," Tyler complained.
"Well, you should know that I only invited him here because Gemma wanted to talk about everything Homecoming and now that you guys are here, she'll probably want you to listen."
Looks of pure regret appeared on each of their faces. David couldn't exactly leave now since Gemma had wanted him to come over specifically, but the other three tried to run. Though, Evanee had already announced that all of them were here and they didn't want to seem rude in front of Evanee's aunt.
"Hey Mrs. Pierce. Having fun planning Evanee's homecoming?" Evan asked politely.
"Yes I am. So, are you three coming too?" Gemma asked, not looking up from her laptop.
"I'm taking my girlfriend, Kelly, so I have to go," Tyler answered.
Hearing that made Evanee smile. She hadn't really talked with her in a while so it'd be nice to see her again. Plus, there was a certain limit Evanee could reach before she lost her sanity spending all her time with the eggheads around her. A girl's company would be nice, well a girl that wasn't her aunt.
Jonathan spoke up, "My mom is forcing me to go since its my senior year. By the way, Evan you want to be my date to Homecoming?"
David, Tyler, Evan, Evanee, and even Gemma physically facepalmed. "You just had to say date, didn't you?"
"Is that a yes?"
"Sure, buddy. Sure," Evan deadpanned. "But since you asked, you're paying for my ticket."
The blue eyed boy groaned. He'd probably be shouting a string of curse words by this point, but there was no way in hell he'd purposely say anything inappropriate in front of Gemma.
"You boys are quite something," Gemma exclaimed, laughing. She could see why Evanee was happy to call them her friends. "Evanee, I'm buying your dress already, okay? And David's suit."
"It's fine, Mrs.Pierce. I can pay for it myself," David reassured her.
"Nonsense. My friend works at this place and gives me huge discounts so this is perfectly affordable. Since you're all here, I'll order some pizza and wings for dinner."
As much as Gemma refused, the four teenage boys split the bill and paid for the food. It was around five in the afternoon on a Monday, so Gemma said the latest they could stay was eight.
Instead of playing video games like they usually did, they had movie night enjoying pizza and wings while Gemma insisted that she go upstairs to keep looking for the perfect dress for Evanee.
They had all agreed on Elektra after ten minutes of arguing and each found the perfect spots. The only couple shared a blanket and took up the entire couch, so the other three sat on separate bean bags as they watched the movie.
"Okay!" Gemma clapped her hands together, walking down the stairs. "The movie is over and its time for you boys to go home."
She was met with groans. "Just one more movie. Please, Mrs.Pierce?" Jonathan asked.
"Nope, off your lazy butts and get back home. You have school tomorrow and you need your sleep," Gemma ordered. The boys got up from their spots and cleaned up the food they ate, thanked Gemma, said goodbye to Gemma and Evanee, and went out the door.
"One more movie?" Evanee asked, still in the same spot she was in when they had watched Elektra.
"Of course," Gemma replied, taking a seat on one of the bean bags.
They spent another hour and a half watching a scary movie before Gemma sent Evanee to her room for the night.

"Dude, you look like crap." Jonathan said, patting his friend's back.
"I feel like crap," Evanee groaned, letting her drop onto the recently cleaned lunch table. "I couldn't go to sleep last night since Gemma and I watched a scary movie before we went to sleep."
Evan let her rest her head on his shoulder and close her eyes. The guys laughed quietly as soon as they discovered that Evanee had actually fell asleep once her head touched Evan's shoulder.
According to Jonathan and Tyler, it was the perfect moment to take out a sharpie and draw on her face, but Evan had quickly stopped them.
He checked his phone and saw that they had thirty minutes before school would commence. "You guys want to walk to the 7/11 on the next street?"
They all agreed and left their belongings by the lunch table, politely asking the seniors at the table next to them to watch over it, which left them in surprise. There was no doubt that Evan and his friends were kinder after meeting Evanee.
Before they started walking, Evan woke his girlfriend up and squatted. Evanee, not wanting to walk, happily accepted Evan's piggy back ride. Luckily, she didn't weigh that much and Evan worked out regularly so he had no trouble carrying her there.
When they arrived at 7/11 after a short walk, they each bought what they wanted with their own money, while Evanee, who didn't bring her money, waited by outside. Evan had a risky idea to keep Evanee wake throughout the day since he knew that Evanee had some serious shit in her classes today, since they had talked about it the day before. Instead of getting her regular coffee, he bought coffee with cream and sugar and for a somewhat better result, he added a bit of Red bull to the drink after buying it.
"You're not actually going to give her that are you?" David asked.
"She has two tests and a presentation today. Gotta keep her up on her feet," Evan replied.
David knew he only had the best intentions, but he wasn't looking forward to Evanee's crash and burn after the caffeine wears off. There was no guarantee she'd get any sleep tonight either. Still, Evan gave her the drink and they continued their day.

Lunch quickly came and so did a bunch of news. The five friends gathered at their usual table with outrageous stories concerning a certain green eyed girl.
"What the hell was in my coffee, Evan?"
Her other three friends stared at Evan with knowing smiles. He didn't respond, causing Evanee to groan and flip him off.
"You should've seen her today for her presentation. She was jumping all over the place and actually made her presentation fun. Ms.Osborn thought that she was just passionate learning and then gave a five minute lecture on how we should be excited to do these presentations like Evanee," David laughed. "It was worth it, seeing Evanee talk like a mad man."
"That doesn't even compare to what she did to Mr.Onyx. We had this huge unit test in first period. It took people around thirty or forty minutes. She finished in the first five minutes and got into an an argument with him 'cause he said that dhe probably got all of it wrong since she rushed through it. Corrected it and she aced the fucking thing, " Tyler said, unbelievably.
Evan put his arm around her. "You're crazy."
"Can't deny it," Evanee laughed, kissing him quickly as they all shared more stories.

School is killing me.
