Chapter 15

It was after school and Evanee was patiently waiting in the parking for David so that she could go home before she saw Evan.

The tall Irishman walked out the school gates, greeting the raven haired girl with a smile. Like they did the other night, the two got on David's motorcycle with their helemets on.

Instead of worrying about Evan, Evanee focused on the sudden rush she got as David drove. She loved the feeling of moving faster than everyone else, but still being able to enjoy viewing the little shops and neighbourhoods of their small town.
She leaned against his back, smiling, but before she knew it, they were parked in front of her house.

"You want to come in?" Evanee asked as she unlocked the door. David nodded and followed her inside. It was the exact same as he last saw it, beautiful and tidy. "Thanks for giving me a ride."

David took a seat on the couch, quickly running his hand through his hair. "About that," he started, "why are you ignoring Evan?"

"Guess I can't really deny it," Evanee sighed, dropping her backpack on the floor. "I learned in my history class once that the past was the best indicator to the future and Evan's past with girls is something I don't want to repeat. Plus, Sydney's a hoe and I want nothing to do with her."

"You do know that Evan won't leave you alone," David told her. A knock at the door proved David's statement.

Evanee frowned. "That's why I need you to do me a favor. I'll do anything you want in return," her words were rushed, not knowing if it was Evan at the door. David waited for her to continue. "I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend. It's the quickest way for him to back off."

"Oh, hell no. Its the quickest way for him to beat my ass."

Evanee could hear the door open and her first instinct was to run, but a risky idea popped into her head. Taking a seat next to David, she kissed him. David was going to break away, but something pulled him in and he didn't restrict himself.

The two heard a loud thud as Evan's fist hit the door, creating a minor dent. "You fucking asshole," Evan shouted, coming closer to them. By then, David was cowering against the kitchen wall while Evanee was sitting on the couch, mentally punishing herself for giving away her first kiss so easily.

"Evan, stop." Evanee stood up and outstretched her palm so that it was flat against Evan's chest, potentially stopping him from hurting David. "This was a stupid idea, okay? Calm down-"

"You want me to calm down! I'll fucking beat his ass before I get even close to calming down!"

The next few words said scared the absolute shit out of David as he watched everything play out. "Do your fucking best and hit me then, asshole! If not, I suggest you sit your goddamn ass down and shut the hell up!"

There was severe ferocity in Evanee's voice that actually intimidated both of the teenage boys. Evan sat down, but he was still fuming.

"I kissed him right before you came in because I'm trying to push you away. It was a stupid, unplanned idea and I don't want it to affect your relationship with David," Evanee spoke confidently.

She could see Evan physically relax and calm down for a few seconds, but he began to tense up again. "Why would you want to push me away?"

"Because of the same reason why you freaked out when you walked in here. I like you Evan but as much as I hate to say it, I regret it so much because there's nothing else that I can think of other than us being together." Evanee absolutely hated how cliché she sounded. "But that can't happen."

David took this chance to run up the stairs and away from the confusion downstairs.

The other two disregarded his absence and continued talking.

"Why can't that happen?"

"Because of people like Sydney. Before all of this," Evanee pointed at him and herself, "you were enjoying dating and dumping so many girls. If we were together, I'd doubt that you actually like me every second of the day."

Evan couldn't deny his past relationships and he could understand why Evanee didn't want him around, but that wouldn't stop him.

"Be my girlfriend for two weeks," Evan proposed. He earned a bewildered stare from the raven haired girl as she waited for him to explain his proposition. "I'll show you that I would never hurt you."

Evanee contemplated the idea for a few seconds. "I'll think about, but until I give you an answer, I need you to stay away from me."

"Agreed."
