Chapter 10
There was nothing better than waking up to My Life by Billy Joel. As Evanee opened her eyes and turned the alarm on her phone off, she saw that it was 6:45.
Usually, the bus would go to her bus stop pretty early which was around seven and by then there'd be around fifteen people crowding on the sidewalk so they'd be able to get to the bus also.
This particular morning was much different though. Evan had sent her a text last night saying that he'd pick her up and drive to school around 7:25, giving her forty minutes to get ready.
Gemma came home around ten the night before like always and was exhausted, so Evanee didn't want to wake her up as she got ready. The raven haired girl got up from the bed and into the kitchen for breakfast. She found some yogurt in the fridge along with a few cut up strawberries and some blueberries.
She wasn't that hungry so yogurt and fruits were completely fine. Evanee also made some coffee, leaving some over for her aunt when she woke up.
After her small breakfast, she did her usual morning routine; washed her face, brushed her teeth, hair, and then clothes.
It being the middle of August, Evanee had decided on black leggings, a beige knit sweater that reached down to the middle of her thigh, and black wedged heels. She left her hair down and grabbed her bag and binder, heading out the door.
Evan was already outside and didn't notice that Evanee was going towards him. His red jacket and black jeans hid the large muscles Evanee remembered.
"Sup bitch," Evanee said. The boy looked up from his phone and smiled back at her.
"Morning Ducky. You're fifteen minutes early." The green eyed girl checked the time and it was only 7:10, which meant that they still had fifty minutes to go to school. "Its better to be early anyways. Hop in."
The two got in the car and Evanee connected her phone to the speaker, earning a questioning glance from the driver. She merely shrugged and scrolled through songs list to find a song to enjoy with Evan.
As he started the car and drove away from their neighborhood, Evan smiled hearing Evanee's song choice. Come and Get Your Love by Redbone was one of Evanee's favorites since she first hears it from Guardians of the Galaxy.
They didn't sing this time, but they still enjoyed the music until Evanee turned it off to talk. "So how do the other chicken nuggets get to school?"
"You mean David and them?" Evanee nodded. "Well Jonathan walks since he lives across from the school, David has his own motorcycle, and Tyler rides his bike usually. But we're picking David up today."
On cue, Evan parked the car in front of a small house with a tall figure standing by the front. He honked catching the figure's attention.
"Shotgun!" David shouted running towards the car.
"I'm pretty sure that doesn't qualify since I'm already in here," Evanee laughed watching David frown when he got in the backseat.
Evan started the car once again and drove towards Tracker High. It was 7:20 so there'd probably be a few people at school, which was great now that Evan thought about it.
Since he had come to the decision that he would stop making Evanee's life a 'living hell', he didn't want to bring much attention to her since she didn't like being in the spotlight. If a lot people saw that he had driven her to school, she'd be talked about a bit.
David interrupted Evan's train of thought. "Can you play some music? Preferably Ed Sheeran."
Fortunately, Evanee was also a huge fan of the british, ginger haired singer so David had many different songs to choose from. He had picked Homeless, which included a lot of fast paced singing.
David and Evan went eerily silent as Evanee began rapping the entire fast paced part of the song.
"Teach me your ways,"David pleaded as the chorus began. "Not even Tyler can talk as fast as you sang that."
"Pure talent can't be taught," Evanee teased, turning around sticking her tongue out. David scrunched his face. "Just kidding Mr.Tall Potato. One day I'll show you everything you need to know."
Evan laughed at the nickname Evanee gave to David. The three of them had arrived at school, but to Evan's dismay, there were more people than usual near the parking lot.
Before he could say anything, his two friends got out of Evan's car which caught people's attention especially since she had gotten into a fight with him a few days before.
Evan then got out of the driver's seat and walked through the school gates with Evanee and David. As they headed towards Vanoss' usual spot, they could hear the whispers.
Wasn't she the one who got into a fight with Evan?
What's her name?
Her name's Evanee. She's in my third period, nothing special.
What makes her good enough to hang around with David and them?
Is she dating Evan?
"I'm sorry, Evanee. I didn't think they'd talk about you like this," Evan apologized, knowing she could hear them too.
Jonathan was already sitting down at their usual spot, which was the middle table on the school circle. The school circle was basically just the huge space in the middle of the entire where most of the students hung out.
"No need to apologize dweeb. I don't really care if they make any stupid rumors."
"But you didn't like when your aunt thought we were a couple," Evan said, sitting down next to Jonathan.
"Cause she's my aunt, that's embarrassing. If its other unimportant people, I don't give a single fuck," Evanee reasoned and saluted them in good bye.
She began walking away to her usual spot under a large tree on the school field. Though, she was stopped as a larger person ran towards her at full speed.
Her eyes closed, waiting for the impact, but nothing came. Instead she was lifted up and carried back to the table by Tyler.
Tyler laughed seeing Evanee's angry face when he put her down. Even more people saw that, causing even more whispers to spread.
"That was highly unnecessary," Evanee flipped Tyler off, which only made him laugh more.
She couldn't help but smile afterwards though. In a short matter of time, Evanee was able to say that she was friends with an obnoxious group of boys who brightened up her day.
"We still have thirty minutes till class starts. Just sit with us, please?" Jonathan asked, patting the seat next to him.
Evanee sighed and sat down next to Jonathan, which resulted in cheering and more judging looks from other people.
Since school had just started a week before, David asked for Evanee's schedule. He knew he had her in his second period since they sat next to each other, but other than that he had no other classes with her.
Jonathan had checked it afterwards since he knew all of the classes, including his friends'.
"Well, we know you have second period with David. I have sixth and third period with you and Tyler has you in first. Evan doesn't have any classes with you," Jonathan said.
It would be a lie to say that Evan wasn't disappointed that his friends had her in their classes but he didn't. Still, he didn't want that to show so he shrugged.
Tyler did a weird dance which Evanee had joined in on. "This means I get to walk the hottie to first period."
Evanee stopped and punched him I'm the arm. "I'd like to be called by my actual name. I'm Castiel, angel of the lord. I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition."
Three pairs of eyes stared at her in confusion, while David began clapping. "Supernatural is love. Supernatural is life."
Jonathan, Evan, and Tyler knew of the show since David was a huge fan of it but they haven't actually watched it. Now Evan wished he did.
"True." Evanee laughed. "Class starts in like five minutes, so Tyler you want to go now?"
"Sure. See you guys after third period back here," Tyler and Evanee waved good bye and started walking towards their class. The three of them daid their goodbyes and went their separate ways.
--
Lunch seemed a bit more louder than usual. There were whispers or just full on conversations about the random girl who found a spot in Evan's group. Some people didn't care, others were happy for them, more were jealous, but a lot of them were angry.
Evanee ignored the pointing and stares, continuing her day like it was just another. She was walking with Jonathan since they just gout out of third period and went to the famous table in the middle of the school campus.
"Took you guys long enough," Tyler said, seeing his friends walking to the table.
David, Evan, and Tyler were already sitting down with food on the table. Evanee sat down, while Jonathan left to get food from the cafeteria.
It was in the middle of their conversation about Thor when Jonathan came back and David had pointed something out. "Aren't you going to eat?"
"I usually skip lunch and eat a big dinner on weekdays. School lunch is just plain horrible," Evanee said.
The four of them agreed so they all brought food from home usually. Before she could say anything, Evan scooted closer to her so his tray was closer to her too. One by one, the boys gave her a piece of foofood from their own lunch. In the end, she had a banana, an Apple juice box, half of a turkey sandwich, and some yogurt coverered raisins.
"Lunch is important. I'll bring you something everyday," Jonathan patted her head and the others also wanted to contribute. "Then I guess we'll all bring something extra for you for lunch."
Evanee thanked them and she smiled widely. She wasn't exactly used to being with friends, especially ones who were so kind to her.
"Back to the conversation, Loki should've been King of Asgard in the beginning," Tyler stated.
"He's right. He'd be able to rule Asgard perfectly unlike Thor who would've just started wars." Evanee agreed and reasoned.
As lunch went on, they argued about who the rightful king of a fictional kingdom should've been. Their conversation was stopped though as the bell rang, signaling their next class.
Before everyone went to class Jonathan asked if they wanted to hang out at his house after school since it was only five minutes away if they walked. Everyone agreed since none of them had any plans, so they headed off to class and agreed to meet by the front gate after school.
